Im dan ashley. Tonights harveys wrath is expanding. Unrelenting rain forcing thousands to evacuate. The water continues to rise, leaving people scrambling to get to dry land. Under pouring rain, dozens jumped on dump trucks to get to safety. A reporter from our sister station talked to one of the youngest evacuees. A dump truck took him to a site where he was reunited with his mom. What was it like when he left . Flooded. Reporter what do you mean . Up to my neck flooded. Reporter serious . How scary was that. I started crying. As anybody would do. The storm is blamed for at least six deaths. Abc News Reporter lana zak has the latest from houston. Reporter good evening, dan and ama. Theres been so much generosity here but the need is so great here in houston and elsewhere. Officials and the red cross are calling for additional assistance. They ask for volunteers, particularly anybody with medical training. Houstons george r. Brown Convention Center is beyond capacity. Originally planned to host 5,000 evacuees, that number was quickly exceeded but the red cross doesnt want to turn anyone away. Honestly, this is what katrina was like.
