Clemson, SC Jordan Byrd’s Clemson men’s golf team was selected to the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament on Wednesday, the 42nd consecutive regional tournament for the program.The streak is the longest in terms of consecutive NCAA Tournaments in Clemson sports history.Clemson was selected for the Chapel Hill Regional at the Finley course on the University of North Carolina campus. The tournament will be held May 13-15 with 18 holes being played each day. The 13-team field in Chapel Hill includes #1 seed North Carolina, the #4 ranked team in the nation, second-seeded Alabama, ranked ninth overall, and third-seed Georgia Tech, ranked 17th in the nation. CLEMSON, S.C. - After her impressive and historic performances this past weekend at Penn Relays, junior thrower Marie Forbes was named the ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Forbes has had an impressive 2023-2024 campaign as she shined in the indoor season and is continuing her success in the outdoor portion of the schedule as well. While competing at Penn Relays this past weekend, Forbes recorded two, first-place finishes to be crowned the champion in both the women's hammer throw and the women's discus. The Tiger became the first woman since at least 2000 to win both the hammer throw and discus in the same year. In the rankings, Forbes is currently ranked third in the ACC and No. 14 in the nation in the discus. In the hammer throw, Forbes is second in the ACC and is ranked No. 23 in the nation. CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball program and head coach Shawn Poppie announced the signing of graduate transfer student-athlete Anya Poole on Monday morning. Poole, a 6’2” forward from Raleigh, N.C. who has one year of eligibility remaining, joins the Tigers after spending the previous four seasons with the North Carolina Tar Heels. During her time in Chapel Hill, Poole started 74 games and saw action in 116. In the 2021-22 season, Poole started every game for the Heels, averaged 7.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 57% from the floor, and UNC advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. The talented post player joins the Tigers with an abundance of postseason experience. In her four years with North Carolina, Poole was a starter and contributor on three different teams that made the NCAA tournament and won a combined four games. CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore outfielder Cam Cannarella (Hartsville, S.C.) was named ACC Player-of-the-Week, announced Monday by the league office. He joined North Carolina's Jason DeCaro, who was named ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week, in receiving conference accolades. ACC baseball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel and are announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.Cannarella was 9-for-20 (.450) with two homers, two doubles, six RBIs, four runs, an .850 slugging percentage, two walks and a .500 on-base percentage in four games on the road, including a series win at Louisville over the weekend.He had at least two hits in each of the four games, including a homer at No. 17 Georgia on Tuesday. He went 7-for-14 with a homer, two doubles and five RBIs in the three-game series at Louisville.
