While you were sleeping, multiple fire crews tried to save a burning home on ely street in cedar rapids just after midnight. Our crew on the scene says firefighters worked to tame the flames for more than two hours. The Linn County Sheriffs Office tells cbs 2 news no one was home at the time. Initial reports say the home may have been undergoing renovations. Officials are now working to figure out what started the fire. Well continue to monitor this developing story all morning long. An update this morning authorities have now released the names of two People Killed just outside of decorah. Decorah. It all happened in a Mobile Home Park in freeport. 55yearold craig freilinger and 41yearold sarah szabo were both found dead on sunday evening from gunshot wounds. On monday, the linn county courthouse on mays island a place that was devastated in 08, will reopen after being closed only a week. More Recovery Efforts will continue throughout the weekend and you now have a place to drop your sandbags. Today, the city accepted both wet and dry sandbags at noelridge park. Tomorrow, starting at 7 am, you can bring your sandbags to ellis park. The city is discussing when they could open tomorrow, bring your sandbags when they might open another dropoff site. Commercial properties can drop them off at the former 6th street plant.
