Several graduations set for this week The Monroe News Several area schools will hold graduation ceremonies this week. Jefferson High School will hold its graduation at 6 tonight on the Marc L. Cisco Alumni Football Field. The rain dates are Thursday and Friday. Families will sit in pods and masks are required. Each senior received seven tickets; the maximum audience is 1,000. Graduating are 124 students. Speaking will be the school’s eight valedictorians, one salutatorian, Superintendent S. Michael Petty and principals Dave Vensel (retired) and Millie J. Grow (interim). The valedictorians are Thomas Boggs, Madison Dennis, Nicholas Jablonski, Sarah Johnson, Brooke Lavoie, Kline Peare, Shea Peare and William Robinson.

The biggest new outbreaks involves 15 students and staff at Portage Central Elementary in Kalamazoo County and 12 students and staff at Grand Ledge High School near Lansing. The two colleges with outbreaks involved eight students at Spring Arbor College near Jackson and two students at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. New K-12 school outbreaks also were identified in 15 counties. Below are those outbreaks listed by county: Bay County: Faith Lutheran Elementary in Bay City, four staff and students.

St. Clair High's Marching Saints capture third title at America's Thanksgiving Parade

The St. Clair High School Marching Saints won WDIV s 2020 Battle of Bands contest among the six high school bands participating in America s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White. The Marching Saints attracted the most votes in the television station s online contest, which opened at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning and continued through 11 p.m. Nov. 29. St. Clair High School outpointed the Carlson High School Marching Marauder Band, the Chippewa Valley High School Big Reds Marching Band, the Dakota High School Marching Band and the Monroe High School Trojan Marching Band. - Advertisement - Southeastern Michigan Ford Dealers sponsored the contest.
