It figured to be a bit of a mismatch. It was. Gia Pardalos scored five goals Monday, the last coming with 25:26 remaining in the second half to end it, as the Capital City Lady Cavaliers defeated the Owensville Dutchgirls 8-0 at Capital City High School.
There were a lot of crooked numbers on the Capital City scoreboard Monday night. Most of the numbers, however, belonged on the Lebanon Yellowjackets’ scoreline. “They did what they needed to do, they played good baseball in all phases,” Capital City coach Brett Skinner said after his team’s 13-4 loss to the Yellowjackets at Capital City High School. “They put pressure on our pitching staff and our defense.”
One inning got away from the Blair Oaks Falcons. The Eureka Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the third inning Saturday, which proved to be enough in a 6-4 victory against Blair Oaks in the third-place game of the Jays Baseball Classic at Capital City High School.
The Capital City Cavaliers entered the Jays Baseball Classic with two wins. They left with three more and a second-place trophy. “If you had told me coming in that we’d place second, I’d be pretty happy,” Capital City coach Brett Skinner said.
