The Capital City Lady Cavaliers don’t have far to carry their first team plaque.
The Lady Cavaliers took third Friday in the Capital City Girls Tournament, earning the team’s first tournament plaque.
“That’s our first plaque as a team, I told them ‘We’re on the up, just keep working and good things will happen,’” Capital City coach Mitch Werdehausen said. “Just proud of how hard the girls worked. … Third place isn’t too bad after where we came from last year.”
There will be a new champion crowned in this year’s Jefferson Bank Holiday Hoops Classic. The Hickman Kewpies dropped out this season after winning the girls’ tournament championship last year and will be replaced by a team taking its first shot at the Classic.
