It’s an experienced group of Helias Lady Crusaders. And they are going to try to use that experience to their advantage. “We are adding new stuff, bringing back some old stuff,” Helias coach Garrett Wiggans said as the Lady Crusaders prepare for tonight’s season opener against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons at Rackers Fieldhouse. “We are evolving our game.”
Capital City controlled the trenches. The Cavaliers ran for 418 yards on 45 tries, led by Jaylen Thomas with 294 yards on 24 attempts, to build a dominant 49-7 win against the Truman Patriots on Friday at Capital City High School. “We were able to run basic offense against a big D-line,” Capital City coach Joe Collier said. “Jaylen ran well, (Evan) Schaffer ran well. He ran the offense like he usually does. I thought everybody contributed well.”
The Capital City Lady Cavaliers finished their softball regular season on a high note. “It was a good game to get us going in the right direction,” Capital City coach Brett Skinner said following Monday night’s 10-0 win in five innings against the Union Ladycats at Capital City High School.

On the first play from scrimmage, Capital City recovered a fumble on defense, then needed only one play for the first of seven touchdowns on the way to a 48-21 Central Missouri Activities Conference win Friday night against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers at Capital City High School.
The Jefferson City Lady Jays came into the season looking for their first Central Missouri Activities Conference title. The Lady Jays are now halfway there after their 25-14, 25-22, 16-25, 29-27 victory Tuesday against the Capital City Lady Cavaliers on Senior Night at Fleming Fieldhouse.
