Killed a motorcyclist. It happened just before 2 00 this morning near whipple avenue. Four vehicles were at the scene when they arrived. More may have been involved. The victim reported to be a hayward man in his late 30s. Officers say its not clear who was at fault. Happening now, crews cleaning up a big mess in hayward. Its affecting traffic in the area this morning. Amy hollyfield is live along highland boulevard. Amy . Look behind me at highland boulevard. Its not the same as usual. Its down to one lane. One half of it still shut down. Theyve got heavy equipment still out here. It looks like they have a lot of work to do. Driveways are still blocked. Its going to be quite a different morning out here in hayward. Look at what caused this. Heres cell phone video showing water and mud gushing down highland avenue. This is all because a water main broke at about 11 00 yesterday morning. This is near mission boulevard in hayward. The damage wasnt limited to just out here on the street. ....

Doesnt look like enough skid marks for how long they were doing it. Very much a shock for us. Reporter lieutenant felix chance says Richmond Police responded to the area after multiple calls. Ended up with an officer suffering serious injury. They found about 40 to 50 cars, some of them actually quite a few of them blocking the roadway and there was smoke all over the place. Just like somebody was doing doughnuts. And spinning their wheels. Reporter new tire marks are in the intersection today. They say the officer was in uniform with others and had a flashlight telling drivers to stop. Tino mcmillan was visiting when he heard the sound. A possible stolen car with five people inside smashed into a parked bmw on mclaughlin avenue and quaumy drive. All five people in the back of believed to be juveniles. The man said he owned the car said he was trailing the car and saw the accident. He said the car was stolen in front of his house and is now totaled. At least one person has been hospitalized. No word yet on any arrests or charges. For the community of lower lake, its an end and a beginning. The community of lower lake returns home for the First Time Since the clayton fire, residents banding together to help each other start over. The clayton fire is now 90 contained, but some of the residents being allowed back in are finding out just how much theyve lost. Leslie brinkley spent the day at lower lake. Reporter there are families like the ramseys, sifting through the ashes of what was their three bedroom home, looking for fragments of jewelry. Were thankful that our neighbors are okay.
