we re going to have get out to danielle nottingham in ferguson, missouri with the very latest, danielle? reporter: police say this was worse than the violence that broke out here in ferguson, the community braces for a possible round two tonight. we re learning more about officer darren wilson s side of the story. burned out businesses smoldered following a night of chaos in ferguson, missouri. rioting broke out after a county prosecutor announced that nine white and three african-american jurors decided not to indict police officer darren wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teenager michael brown in august. their decision was based on 7 # hours of testimony from 70 hours of testimony from about 60 witnesses. lawyers criticized the grand jury system saying prosecutors have ongoing relationships with the ferguson police. we object publicly and loudly as we can on behalf of michael brown jr. s family that this process is broken. reporter: president obama called for
cross examined. and in the end, justice was not served. how is it possible that two different groups see this one issue so completely differently? is it part of the divide in our nation? and where is it leading us? let s get to it. good tuesday afternoon fro deck on a very difficult day in america where we re all left to wonder where is this taking us. and will history be our guide. we re right now waiting for the mayor of ferguson, missouri, to speak following a night of violence and destruction in his city. we ll bring you the news when it begins. but first the parents of michael brown say the legal system is broken. that s the word from their attorney, a very emotional attorney a short time ago. a grand jury decided not to indict the white police officer for shooting the black 18-year-old who did not have any weapons on him. the family says they are profoundly disappointed in the jury s decision, which sparked a night of violence and protests across ferguson, missouri. a
off here. traffic is not being allowed. it has not been allowed to enter this, you know, four-block radius of west florissant for the past, oh, i d say, 14 hours or so now. it s been blocked off. we re told it s blocked off because it is still being considered a crime scene. this is, of course, where last night gunshots rang out. there were a number of the stores were looted here. one, two, three four were set on fire as well. in fact, behind me, we just saw in the past ten minutes or so, we just saw some workers arrive to set up some fencing around what s left of that public storage facility. we are expecting more protests tonight. in fact, we ve already seen a handful of organized protests so far today. there was one over in clayton. nothing like what we saw last night. largely peaceful. much smaller as well. again, expecting to see more of that over the course of the afternoon and evening. more than 80 people arrested. 15 buildings set on fire. dozens more than that vand
but there s a passionate objection from the family of michael brown. in fact, just a couple of hours ago, their attorneys slammed the grand jury process calling it broken, calling it unfair and the st. louis county prosecutor s office the decision to use this grand jury. the family s protests come after a night of violence. according to police, more than a dozen buildings burned, businesses looted. we ll talk to someone who lost their entire business, totally burned, at least 61 people were arrested and more than 150 shots fired. many of them aimed straight at police. the family s being questioned we re about to play for you in this video. it shows brown s mother, absolutely emotional, breaking down, after the news from the grand jury last night, then you see brown s stepfather. he speaks up, he is clearly enraged. i ve been here my whole life! i ain t never had to go through nothing like this! don t none y all know me, but i don t do nothing to nobody. anybody say so, th
