Eighth Judicial District Court Magistrate Jeffrey Schwartz has issued bonds for both suspects, giving Aaron Lambertus a $1 million cash only bond and Ayla Osterloth a $150,000 cash or surety bond. Both remain in custody at the Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins.
Chad Gagnon was arrested in February of 2022 for allegedly threatening Loveland Police Department officers and barricading himself inside his house. While a case was pursued against him in the 8th Judicial District Court, it was ultimately dropped when a federal indictment was filed in 2022. While he initially pleaded not guilty to the two charges against him one count of possession of an unregistered firearm and one count of interstate transmission of a threatening communication he ultimately pleaded guilty to the firearm charge in late May and was sentenced to four years of probation Thursday morning.
Bob Coleman, spokesperson for the department, said the Loveland Police Department is investigating the incident as an arson. While he was not able to provide specific details, he said evidence at the scene lead investigators to determine the fire was lit intentional and that the department is currently working to identify a suspect; he did add that there were reports of people fleeing the area.
