Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Moving a step ahead towards formation of higher level of federation of rural poor women under DAY-NRLM, the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Longmatra block, under Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) has formed block level federations (BLFs) on October 18. The BLFs were formed under the guidance and support of a team from resource block Kiphire, Ripise Sangtam, BPM Kiphire, and Piose Anar, Ac-IBCB Kiphire Block, an update informed. During the launching programme, the resource persons said BLF is an organisation/ institute that bring together all village organisations and non-VLO from the blocks. Resource persons informed that BLFs are formed with an objective to provide space, voice, better bargaining power and resources to the poor and reducing their dependence on external agencies. Our CorrespondentKohima, Aug. 10 (EMN): Chiephobozou Block Level Federation (CBLF) organised a sales day to raise funds in aid of its office building at Super Market in the state capital, Kohima, on Wednesday. The sales day was promoted by Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Block Mission Management Unit under RD, Chiephobozou. CBLF members numbering around 44 from 19 villages were seen vending organic vegetables, homemade pickles, home juice and sticky rice bread while “Tsüpou SHG,” comprising of elderly menfolk brought in their traditional handicrafts such as wooden spoon, wooden plates, bamboo cane basket among others to sell. The elderly group members were said to have sold out their items as early as 8 am and went home, while others from four villages also disposed of their products by the early afternoon.
