Family, friends help boyfriend stay on the run after he stabs beloved teacher to death: Report

After four months on the run, the accused killer of a beloved New Orleans high school teacher has been arrested in Indiana.
Liz Quackenbush, 39, was found stabbed to death on March 3 in the house she shared with her boyfriend, Preston Higgs, NOLA.com reported. New Orleans police obtained a warrant to arrest Higgs, but the 36-year-old man took off.
Eleven days after her death, Quackenbush’s cell phone was found in the back of a pickup truck in southern Iowa. The truck’s owner, who told authorities he makes deliveries all over the region, said he didn’t know how or when the phone showed up in his truck. ....

THE DIVE TEAM HAS BEEN OUT HERE FOR HOURS AND THEY’RE PULLING THE CAR OUT AS WE SPEAK A TOW TRUCK PULLED UP NOT LONG AGO. THEY ARE GETTING READY TO PULL THIS CAR OUT OF THE WATER. I SPOKE WITH LOCALS WHO HAVE BEEN OUT HERE ALL DAY WATCHING THE CREWS WORKING IN THE WATER. WE’VE BEEN OUT HERE FOR A LITTLE WHILE, JUST SEEING DIVERS TAKING TURNS GOING DOWN. WE SAW THEM RETRIEVE A PERSON ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO WHICH IS HEARTBREAKING. THAT IS WHEN POLICE WERE CALLED AND GATHERED UP JUST ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CALL THIS A HOMICIDE. THEY ARE TREATING IT AS SUCH RIGHT NOW. PEOPLE LIVING AND WORKING NEARBY ARE SCOURING THEIR SECURITY FOOTAGE AS WE SPEAK. NOT TOO MANY HOUSES OR BUILDINGS ON THIS SIDE OF THE VALUE. BAYOU. NEW ORLEANS Friday evening, residents of Mid-City and Bayou St. John gathered on the banks of the bayou with hopes of stopping a dangerous trend in its tracks.
They are fed up with a string of violent carjackings and attempted car thefts in the neighborhood.
