Aftermath of hurricane katrina in new orleans. the city s public water authority is showing a massive water boil order affecting more than 300,000 people. that means people have to boil their water for drinking and any other purposes. the announcement following mechanical and electrical break down in a water treatment plant, health officials fearing bacteria may have contaminated the water system during the failure. this is the first order of its kind since hurricane katrina back in 05. order will stand until at least 3:00 p.m. tomorrow we re told by then they ought to know if the water is safe to drink. that s not only place where there are water troubles tonight. people who live in southern california, bar stow, being told not to brink the water there. a chemical was found in samples. and there s nothing anybody can do about it. they can boil, freeze, filter, even just letting the water stand doesn t reduce the levels of the chemical. ....
