Loretta Anne Beyer got to meet her Savior face to face for the first time on the morning of March 27, 2021. She was 64.
Loretta was born as a missionary child in Zimbabwe, Africa, where her parents, the late George and Patricia (Howe) Dee ministered to the African people for over 40 years. After completing her K-12 schooling in boarding schools she came to the United States to study music at Houghton College in New York. Afterward she spent time in her parents’ home state of Michigan where she met and married Daryl, her husband of 41 years. They have two children, Krystal (Jud) Collins and Brad Beyer – who both live in southern lower Michigan – three grandchildren Jaelyn, Pierson, and Elysia. She is also survived by sister, Carolyn (Chris) Holland, sister-in-law, Susan Dee. Loretta was preceded in death by her brother, Jonathan Dee. ....

Jennie Elizabeth Morey, 72, of Alpena, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Jennie Elizabeth Oliver was born on Jan. 31, 1949 to the late James and Edna (Gibbon) Oliver. On Aug. 7, 1971 she married Bill J. Morey. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2008. She was a substitute teacher for Alpena Public Schools and later taught at All Saints Catholic School. She enjoyed spending time with friends, knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are her daughter, Rachel (Trevor) Taratuta and son, Robert (Trish) Fox-Morey.
Memorial visitation will take place at the First Congregational United Church of Christ on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Case officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. ....

James “Jimmy” Leroy Knorr Jr., 67, of Rogers City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.
Jimmy was born on March 13, 1953 to James L. and Verna (Fox) Knorr. He enjoyed eating, animals, and puzzles.
Surviving are his father James, sister, Jodi (Robert) Dines, two nieces, Alaini and Emmalia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Verna and brother, Kraig.
A graveside service will take place in the spring. Arrangements by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: Hillman Rust Township Cemetery

James (Jim) Raymond Ritzler, 85, passed away at home on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Alpena, Michigan. He served in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Germany. He was a co-owner of Ritzler Dry Cleaners. Jim was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years and also an active member of Knights of Columbus.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Suzette; three sons, Brian, Brad and Paul; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rose Ritzler and two brothers, William and Richard. ....

Raymond (Tom) Thomas Szymanski, 74, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. Ray was born in Alpena on April 15, 1946 to the late Victor and Lila (O’Toole) Szymanski. On Feb. 24, 1968, he married the love of his life, Mary Gersewski. Right out of high school, Ray worked for Frank Wudcoski hauling wood and ice. He then spent 18 years at Habitant Fencing Co. and worked his way up to plant manager.
Ray carried on the family tradition and became a career farmer. Every August for the past 72 years, Alpena was gifted the treat that is Szymanski Farm’s sweet corn. Ray took great pride in knowing that he provided for his community, but was most proud that he provided for his family. All of Ray’s grandchildren had the privilege of placing “Szymanski Farms” on their respective resumes as their first place of employment. And all of them can safely say that there is no better boss than your own Grandpa. ....
