Our Correspondent Kohima, Aug 29 (EMN): The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit in collaboration with Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) organised a music contest at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on Aug. 27. Gracing the inaugural function advisor, TaFMA, Nagaland, Theja Meru, challenged the students to work hard to excel in their academic career while expressing that hard work is the key to success. 16 schools participated in double quartet, eight schools in guitar ensemble and 24 schools in solo competition. EM Bureau Dimapur/Kohima, June 6 (EMN): Various institutions and organisations held programmes marking World Environment Day (WED), which was celebrated on June 5 on the theme ‘Only one Earth’, across the state. LFHSS: Little flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), National Service Scheme (NSS) Club, Kohima organised a plantation drive around the school campus on account of WED on Monday. It was informed that about 120 saplings were planted around the school campus. The club encouraged the students and staff for a collective environmental action and advocated for transformative environmental change on a global scale and further encouraged to live sustainably. The volunteers along with the teachers further distributed eco-friendly reusable cotton bags to the traffic personnel in and around Kohima town. Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): Several districts across Nagaland observed the ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ on May 28 by organising an awareness programme with women and girl students. The ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ is an annual awareness event observed on May 28 to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management at a global level. It was initiated by the German-based NGO ‘WASH United’ in 2013 and observed for the first time in 2014. Mokokchung: All the Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness Centre (AB-HWC) in Mokokchung district observed the ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ on May 28, where the community health officers (CHO) imparted awareness on use and proper disposal of sanitary products, challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstrual hygiene and period-friendly sanitary facilities and to break the taboos and end the stigma surrounding menstruation. During the programme sanitary pads were distributed to the eligible participants in the health units.
