Of the shooter to be suicide. Reporter authorities now say Chris Harper Mercer died by his own hand shooting and killing himself after exchanging gunfire with police. The suspect is down. Reporter a newly released timeline shows the shooter was down 10 minutes after the first call to 911. To the families of the victims, our hearts are with you. Reporter Authorities Say the gunman killed nine people whose ages range from 18 to 67. 16yearold Cheyenne Fitzgerald was among the nine people injured. She lost her kidney. She was shot through the back and it clipped her lung. Reporter anna boylan was sitting next to her. The family says the shooter singled out his victims based on their religion. He was asking people what their religion was if they were christian and when he would stand them up and if he said they were christian he said they will be with god soon.
