in the event that that s necessary. and to a broader assessment of the city s capacity to respond in the event that there is an outbreak of coronavirus in san francisco. reporter: again, no cases originating in san francisco, but today apartments announcement the mayor believes it s coming. reporting from san francisco, mark matthews, nbc bay area news. okay, mark, thank you so much. now here are the latest numbers of coronavirus cases across the u.s. as of today there are at least 57 cases. the cdc has confirmed the whereabouts of 52 of those cases. you can see them on the map. most of them came from the cruise ship in japan. they are being treated in california at travis air force base, in nebraska and texas. today we learned two are hospitalized in contra costa county. seven are in sew llano county. two are in napa county. and one is being treated in san francisco county. it s not clear where the other three are. in addition to those cases there are six other cases in

lion attacks are rare but so far, three victims. they plunged back into the 51-degree water after a sea lion attack. we gave it a rest, and came this morning. and found police officers. san francisco fire department says this time the victim was a woman swimming around 7 a.m. in the far end of aquatic park when a sea lion bit her on the leg. a retired paramedic was also swimming and helped the woman get to shore. her injury was not life- threatening. the national parks service decided not to close the park but swimmers were advised to stay close to the shore. the attacks have happened out in what s called the jacuzzi which is forward out. and i felt i could runaway from him. erroneously. this is the third confirmed attack in a month. the national park service says there s no way to tell if it s the same sea lion. they tend to migrate. and they are here for three or four days. in the first attack, he saw the sea lion coming at him before it bit him. the second at
