going to be distracted today. reporter: a.j. played lacrosse with ryan joseph and describes him as funny and very social. he says ryan has a lot of support here at school. he s just a really good guy, like, in general. he always laughed at my jokes and i laughed at his. yeah, we can get through this. reporter: ryan suffered a c-4 spinal cord injury during a wrestling match last week and paralyzed from the neck down. his friend since childhood was watching the match when it happened. the guy took him down and put him in a hold and the ref got him off. he shook his head like, i can t get up. he just laid there and then the ambulance had to come and stay him. reporter: school started off with an announcement, encouraging kids to see the counselor if they need someone to talk to. the shock of what happened to ryan had many students feeling at a loss for words. i was surprised. i didn t think that would happen to anyone, but i guess it can happen to anyone. reporte
registers in the north bay and start for the commute for the south bay. we re following breaking news in south carolina. that s where four law enforcement officers have been shot during a manhunt. this is video, new video at the scene. it happened early this morning in york county. this is about 20 miles southeast of charlotte. charlotte nbc station says three deputies and a police officer responded to a domestic violence call. the suspect took off and later opened fire while on the run. two separate times. during the second time the gunman was shot and taken into custody. no update on the condition of the officers. also breaking overnight, another mistaken missile warning, this time in japan. a broadcaster there is apologizing after a news alert went out on its website and app saying north korea appears to have fired a missile. the correction was issued five minutes after that initial report. it comes just days after a false alarm in hawaii sent people into a panic over
