Study reveals rising risk of mental health problems among COVID-19 health care professionals The daily toll of COVID-19, as measured by new cases and the growing number of deaths, overlooks a shadowy set of casualties: the rising risk of mental health problems among health care professionals working on the frontlines of the pandemic. A new study, led by University of Utah Health scientists, suggests more than half of doctors, nurses, and emergency responders involved in COVID-19 care could be at risk for one or more mental health problems, including acute traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, problematic alcohol use, and insomnia. The researchers found that the risk of these mental health conditions was comparable to rates observed during natural disasters, such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. ....

December 07, 2020 at 9:32 am CST Newton Police Department ⢠Jason T. Purtilo, 37, homeless, was charged with Third-Degree Burglary, consumption in public places intoxication and two counts of trespass on separate incidents. At 2:20 a.m. Nov. 17, Purtilo entered a locked facility, Newton Health Care, by breaking two doors and entering. He was found inside the building after taking socks from the staff. Staff stated the door alarms went of when Purtilo entered the building. They kept him occupied until the police arrived. Administration was notified during the day hours and wished to pursue charges for burglary and trespass Purtilo from the facility. At 12:04 p.m. Nov. 16, officers were dispatched to Goodwill in reference to an individual who appeared intoxicated. Upon arrival, police made contact with Purtilo who appeared to be under the influence of some type of substance. When asked to conduct sobriety tests, Purtilo refused.
