Newton Police Department
⢠Randi L. Hamilton, 39, of Newton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance at 7:43 p.m. Nov. 27 in the 1700 block of North 19th Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers viewed Hamilton walking westbound on the shoulder of North 19th Avenue East on the west side of the road. Police stopped to speak with her to inform her walking on the shoulder is a violation. Officers recognized Hamilton and requested a warrant check through Jasper County Dispatch. They found she had active warrants for probation violation on the original charges of third-degree burglary and possession of contraband in a correction institution. The officer placed her under arrest for the warrants and asked Hamilton if she had anything on her person, and she informed police she had a used needle/syringe in her front left pants pocket. HOLLIDAYSBURG An Altoona man was sentenced Thursday to three to six years’ incarceration for strangling a woman during a domestic dispute, plus an additional 30 days’ incarceration for assaulting or harassing three people who came to the woman’s aid.
Alexander R. Strohecker, 27, who has been in Blair County Prison since Oct. 19, 2019, when Altoona police arrested him at North Second Street and North Sixth Avenue, apologized to the victim before President Judge Elizabeth Doyle imposed his sentence.
“I wish I could go back 14 months and do things so different,” Strohecker said as he spoke of having changed while in prison. “I’m so sorry for what I did to you. I’m not that person anymore.”
