Reporter the first person to be diagnosed with ebola on u. S. Soil has died. Thomas eric duncan died this morning at Texas Health Presbyterian hospital where hed been in isolation since last week. It under scores why the president has made it a priority to stop the spread of this disease at the source. Reporter duncan originally contracted the virus in liberia. The 42 year old did not show any symptoms when he left for the u. S. , but fell ill several days later. Dozens of people at risk of being infected by duncan are being monitored for 21 days. You can take a look right now because caltrans crews have been hard at work trying to replace that old hinge in the bridge and caltrans says its about 50 years old so it was time. The purpose is to make the road safer in case of an earthquake. We do know that this work is going to continue over the next few days. Representatives say they have decided to shut down all lanes because the process of replacing the hinge involves quite a bit of demolition work. They have to demolishing the concrete because the they have to demolish the concrete because the hinges are imbedded in the concrete and then they pour the concrete over the hinges.
