Leetonia council eyes changes to trash collection | News, Sports, Jobs

LEETONIA Village Council this week decided on changes to be made to the village’s trash collection ordinance.
Council has asked village solicitor Walter Newton to draw up legislation to amend the trash collection ordinance to increase company licenses to six, expand pickup hours to 3 a.m. and limit the amount of time a trash can may remain on the curb to 48 hours. The changes also include an increase in companies’ insurance policies, revocation of licenses after three violations and eventually a way to address safety of trash collection trucks.
Council last month authorized Diamondback Disposal of East Liverpool to operate within village limits for 30 days while council addresses the ordinance. Diamondback began operating in the village without a license and all five of the village’s available licenses had already been issued for 2021. ....

Five face charges after raid | News, Sports, Jobs


LEETONIA Charges are pending following the drug raid of a Columbia Street home Wednesday morning.
Leetonia police, the county sheriff’s office and K-9 unit raided the home at 402 Columbia St. at 9 a.m. after obtaining a search warrant following a month-long investigation by Leetonia police. Members of the county Drug Task Force and Leetonia EMS assisted with the raid.
According to Leetonia Police Chief Allen Haueter, the search uncovered narcotics, syringes and other items used for drug purposes, which were all taken as evidence.
Charges are pending lab results against the occupants of the home including Julie A. Clark, 45; James Everett Artrup Jr., 32; Virginia K. Davis, 29; Lynda M. Cope, 37; and Nathan V. Schultz, 27. ....
