Endangered Missing Person At the request of the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Illinois State Police have activated an Endangered Missing Person Advisory. The Lawrenceville Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating Floyd E. Wheeler. Wheeler is a 33-year-old white male, standing 5 foot 10 inches, weighing 150 lbs. Floyd has brown hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a ball cap, army green hoodie, jeans, and work boots. He was last seen at 1726 12th St, Lawrenceville at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 21st. Mr. Wheeler has a condition that places him in danger. The Cisne FFA Parliamentary Procedure team of Abigail Biggs, Emily Milner, Noah Atwood, Kevin Hyder, Avery Smith, and Isabella Cline won the Illinois FFA State Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event held May 5th at Illinois Central College in Peoria. Individual honors included 1st place Illinois Chair to Kevin Hyder, Top Ten Overall Floor Member Awards 4th to Isabella Cline, 6th to Emily Milner and 10th to Noah Atwood. The Cisne FFA Conduct of Chapter Meetings team members Kaileigh Smallwood, Ella Krupp, Allie Brach, Joshua Biggs, Alex Paul, Hadley Walker and Macy Tannahill finished as the second place team in the Illinois FFA Conduct of Chapter Meetings Leadership Development Event, also held May 5th in Peoria. Illinois lawmakers have passed a new state budget. The budget includes over $1.8 billion in tax relief. Some of the provisions are temporary, such as lifting the one percent grocery tax for a year and delaying a scheduled increase in the gas tax until January. The budget also doubles the property tax rebate up to 300 dollars and sends a one-time payment of at least 50 dollars to most individuals and 100 dollars per child. The Earned Income Tax Credit which helps low income working families will be expanded and there will also be a sales tax holiday for back to school purchases in August. The Cisne FFA enjoyed a successful day of competitions Friday at the District V Livestock Judging and Horticulture Career Development Events at SIU-Carbondale. The Varsity Livestock Judging Team of Emma Hedrick, Lexi Weber, Abigail Biggs, Kori Kessell and Myles Levi finished in 13th place. Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard says human remains were found Monday near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Drive and Davidson Avenue, west of the Interstate-57 interchange and just southwest of the Mt. Vernon City Limits. He did not give many details but did say the person had been deceased for a considerable time before March began. The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce plans to hold its town-wide rummage sale on April 30th. The rain date will be May 7th, according to Executive Director Libby Lingafelter. She says the cost to purchase a spot on the city-wide map is $5 for location only, and the cost for location and an ad listing is $10. Ads must be typed and 30 words or less. The deadline to purchase a spot on the map is April 15th at 9 a.m. Maps will be available at the Chamber Office at 121 East Main Street and in the Wayne County Press one week before the sale date.
