Endangered Missing Person At the request of the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Illinois State Police have activated an Endangered Missing Person Advisory. The Lawrenceville Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating Floyd E. Wheeler. Wheeler is a 33-year-old white male, standing 5 foot 10 inches, weighing 150 lbs. Floyd has brown hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a ball cap, army green hoodie, jeans, and work boots. He was last seen at 1726 12th St, Lawrenceville at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 21st. Mr. Wheeler has a condition that places him in danger. Any person with information regarding the whereabouts of Floyd Wheeler should contact the Lawrenceville Police Department at 618-943-6411 or contact 911. ### Fairfield City Council Meeting The Fairfield City Council will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:00 pm in City Hall. Items in routine business include Ordinance Permitting Portable Cargo Container Use, Water Line Extension, and Discussion/Approval of the Sale or Destruction of City Owned Vehicles & Equipment. ### W.C.S.D. Accepting Applications The Wayne County Sheriff's Merit Commission is accepting applications now until 5pm on December 2nd for the position of Deputy Sheriff. The physical and written testing dates will be announced after the application process concludes. Starting pay for new Deputies is $21.57 an hour. The Sheriff's Office continues to accept applications for lateral transfer for Deputy Sheriff. Full time certified law enforcement officers are eligible for a lateral transfer of up to 10 years seniority towards payroll. A 10-year Deputy's starting pay is $27.06 an hour. Full-time Deputies get the county employee benefit package, vacation time, personal days, and work 10-hour shifts, giving them a 3-day weekend. The Sheriff's Office will also be accepting applications for the position of both full-time & part-time Correctional Officer. If you have already returned an application for Correctional Officer this year you do not need to complete another and will remain on the eligibility list. Starting pay for a new full-time Correctional Officer is $19.14 an hour. Pay for a part-time Correctional Officer is $15.00 an hour. Full-time Correctional Officers get the county employee benefit package, vacation time, personal days, and work 10-hour shifts, giving them a 3-day weekend. The Sheriff's Office also continues to accept applications for lateral transfer for Correctional Officers as well. Full time certified Correctional Officers are eligible for a lateral transfer of up to 10 years seniority towards payroll. A 10-year Correctional Officer's starting pay is $23.38 an hour. Those interested can pick up an application at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. ### Grayville City Council Meeting The Grayville City Council will meet in regular session tonight at 7:00 pm in Grayville City Hall. The council will enter an executive session for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the Administrative, Police and Utilities Departments; collective negotiation matters concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; and the setting of a price for the sale or lease of property owned by the public body. In Old Business the council will discuss the water filtration plant, ISP Health and Welfare Fund DC 58 – Demand for Payment – Audit 2016-2022, security camera system quotes, and the second reading of ordinances 931 – Amending Compensation of Elected Officials and 932 – Amending the Zoning Code. In new business the council will hear the first reading of ordinance 933 – 2021-2022 Tax Levy, 934 – Abating Levy for 2014 Bond Issue, and a request to vacate an alley in Martin's Addition. The next regular Grayville City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 14 at 7:00 pm at the Grayville City Hall. ### Cisne H.S. Graduates earn FFA's Highest Honor Cisne High School graduates, Jaclyn Billington Caldwell, Malcolm Levi, Grace Milligan, and Zack Paul will receive the National FFA Organization's highest honor, the prestigious American FFA Degree, during the 95th National FFA Convention on October 29, 2022, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Less than one percent of the 850,823 FFA members in the country ever earns this distinction. Recipients of the honor are reserved for those students who have earned at least $10,000 and productively invested $7500 through Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs (SAEs), met all requirements of a twenty-page degree application, and completed an interview with a state recommendation committee. The 2022 American FFA Degree ceremony can be viewed on the National FFA Website at ffa.org. Malcolm Levi is a 2019 graduate of Cisne High School. He is an Aircraft Mechanic for the United States Air Force. Malcolm intends to continue his service as a career and then retire from the military. As a high school FFA member, Malcolm competed in State Parliamentary Procedure and State Agricultural Issues Leadership Development Events(LDEs) and played the drums in the Illinois FFA Band. Through FFA, he developed a successful Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) tracking his work experience at Pearce Farms. He is the son of Shawn and Jeanette Levi of Cisne. Zack Paul is a 2020 graduate of Cisne High School and is currently employed at the Irvington Elevator Company's Kell location. He plans to earn additional certifications and advance within the business. High school accomplishments included being named Outstanding Committee Chair, finishing as a top individual in Section and State Poultry Judging, and attending the 212 and 360 Leadership Conferences. During his years in FFA, he maintained multiple SAE profit centers including Agriscience Animal Systems Research, Poultry Production, Landscape Management, Kids-N-Motion, and employment at Mt. Erie Feed & Grain. He is the son of Herb and Crystal Paul of Mt. Erie. Grace Milligan graduated from Cisne High School in 2021. She is currently attending Wabash Valley College earning an Associate Degree in Agricultural Business and Production. She plans to transfer to a four-year university to complete a Bachelor's Degree and then obtain her Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. Grace is currently employed as a Technology Development Field Assistant for Bayer Crop Science. High school accomplishments included being named the 2021 Illinois FFA Small Animal Production & Care Proficiency Award winner, serving as both Cisne FFA Historian and Vice-President, and winning 1st Place in the Section 23 Job Interview LDE. Grace developed Supervised Agricultural Experience programs (SAEs) that included Indian Corn, Blue Corn, Popcorn, Corn Processing, Field Corn, Fancy Rabbits, Meat Rabbits, Corn Processing, Garden, Milo, and Beef & Dairy Bottle Calves. Grace is the daughter of Lee and Emily Milligan of Cisne. Jaclyn Billington Caldwell is a 2021 Cisne High School graduate and is currently employed at Fairfield National Bank. During high school, Jaclyn prioritized serving others and developing leadership skills. She served two terms on the chapter officer team as Cisne FFA vice president and sentinel. Jaclyn also successfully competed on State Ag Business and State Livestock Judging teams. Her FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience programs (SAEs) involved two years of Agri-Science projects focusing on Plant Systems Research, a mowing business, and producing and marketing her own popcorn. Jaclyn is the daughter of Janet Billington of Cisne and Larry Billington of Cisne. The Parliamentary Procedure team of Kevin Hyder, Avery Smith, Abigail Biggs, Isabella Cline, Emily Milner, and Noah Atwood will represent the state of Illinois in the National Parliamentary Procedure competition to be held next week in conjunction with the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN.
