At 12:39 p.m. Sunday, May 16, Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety officers were sent to the 4300 block of Page Avenue for a reported home invasion in progress. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, Director Mike Jester said, adding that several firearms had been stolen from the residence.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 6500 block of Welch Lake Road in Leoni Township at about 1:31 p.m. May 10, for a structure fire, according to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety. “(The fire) was called in by a neighbor, who smelled smoke, who then checked and found flames coming from the front of the residence,” Director Mike Jester said.

An earlier advisory for the Leoni Township Water System began Tuesday, April 27, because of a drop in system pressure. But, subsequent sampling and water analysis showed the water is safe and meets state drinking water standards, operator-in-charge Rob Jones said. No contaminants were found. Officials still recommend that households and businesses on the water system flush lines by running the tap for a few minutes before drinking the water.
