At 12:39 p.m. Sunday, May 16, Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety officers were sent to the 4300 block of Page Avenue for a reported home invasion in progress. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, Director Mike Jester said, adding that several firearms had been stolen from the residence.

A 2012 Buick, driven by a 36-year-old Jackson woman, had turned left in front of a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 37-year old Jackson man, Jester said.

Ten officers received the vaccine from the Jackson County Health Department on Dec. 23, Director Mike Jester said. There are 15 officers scheduled to be vaccinated in future weeks, he said. “This is going to hopefully get things back to normal for us so that we’ve got everybody back in the office and our lobby can be open,” Jester said. “That’s a little over a month away but it’s a step in the right direction.”
