Cause of fire that destroyed Jackson County home still undetermined, officials say

JACKSON COUNTY, MI A Leoni Township couple’s home was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 6500 block of Welch Lake Road in Leoni Township at about 1:31 p.m. May 10, for a structure fire, according to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety.
“(The fire) was called in by a neighbor, who smelled smoke, who then checked and found flames coming from the front of the residence,” Director Mike Jester said.
