Extra Mile Walk goes virtual this year while still providing for children
Throughout the pandemic, families and children have been hit hard when it comes to food insecurities.

LINCOLN, NE.. (KLKN) Throughout the pandemic, families and children have been hit hard when it comes to food insecurities.
“We do know that the need is about 15% to 20% greater as a result of the pandemic. So definitely, you know, more folks that are there needing help for a variety of reasons,” John Mabry, the development director with the Lincoln Food Bank, said.
The Lincoln Food Bank partners with LPS to hold backpack drives to provide for children with food insecurities. Each week they go to different locations and hand out hundreds of bags. All of them filled with nutritious foods to help full the children while they learn.
