PPP’s lead widens against PML-N in NA-249 recount
According to ECP, Qadir Khan Madokhel’s winning margin against Miftah Ismail increased to 909 votes from 683
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged victorious by a greater margin after the recounting of votes for the NA-249 by-election.
After the recount of votes polled across all 276 stations, PPP’s Abdul Qadir Mandokhel secured 15,656 votes, whereas PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail got 14,747, showing a victory margin of 909 votes.
When the unofficial by-poll results were first announced, Mandokhel had won with 16,156 votes, while Ismail came in second with 15,473, reflecting a difference of 683 votes.
In the vote recount, Mandokhel lost 500 votes, while Ismail 726 votes.

Karachi [Pakistan], May 9 (ANI): The recounting of votes for the NA-249 by-election has resulted in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emerging the victor once again with a greater margin than in the initial results.
After a recount of votes at 276 elections, PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Mandokhel got 15,656 votes, whereas Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismail secured 14,747, meaning a victory margin of 909 votes, as opposed to 683 votes in the results announced earlier, reported Geo News.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) earlier this week accepted PML-N leader Miftah Ismail s application for recounting of votes in the NA-249 Karachi by-election.
Polling underway for Khushab by-elections

The polling for by-elections in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-84 (Khushab) commenced on Wednesday.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of PML-N lawmaker Mohammad Waris Kallo, who had won the elections in 2018 with 66,775 votes.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the total number of registered voters in the constituency are 292,687.
There are 155,104 male and 137,583 female voters. A total of 229 polling stations have been set-up in the constituency (27 for male, 26 for female and 176 joint).
About 43 polling stations had been declared sensitive whereas about 14 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive with respect to security concerns and 172 normal.

Provincial election authorities have completed preparations for a by-election in the Punjab Assembly’s constituency PP-84 Khushab, which will be held on Wednesday.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of PML-N lawmaker Mohammad Waris Kallo who had won the elections in 2018 with 66,775 votes.
In all, 16 nomination papers were received for the by-elections, of which one was rejected, while six candidates withdrew their nominations.
The candidates include Ali Hussain Khan from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Mohammad Moazzam Sher from Pakistan Muslim League-N, Ghulam Habib Ahmed from Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Amjad Raza, Aurangzeb, Imran Haider Khan and Mohammad Ilyas Khan as independent candidates and Hafiz Muhammad Asghar Ali from the recently banned TLP.
