The district administration has began SVEEP activity to achieve 100% voter turn out during the forthcoming Assembly election to all seven Assembly constituencies in the district.
Electronic voting machines would be used in all 2,370 polling booths in the district, Collector R. Kannan said. Mock polling activity is being done in all the constituencies to familiarise voters with the functioning of EVMs.

Zonal Officers for Assembly election in Virudhunagar district have been asked to inspect and ensure basic amenities at the polling stations.
Addressing the zonal officers here on Wednesday at a training programme, District Returning Officer and District Collector R. Kannan, asked them to find the shortest routes connecting the polling booths under their jurisdiction. Similarly, they were asked to compile the alternative route to polling stations.
The officials should remove all party flag poles, banners and wall posters in the vicinity of the polling stations.
The polling officers should be provided adequate training to properly handle the electronic voting machines and they should be knowledgeable about the documents and other materials to be taken along with the EVMs to the polling booths on the eve of polling day.

Collector and District Returning Officer R. Kannan on Tuesday inspected polling booths in Virudhunagar, Aruppukottai and Tiruchuli on Tuesday.
The officials were in the process of providing additional polling booths wherever the total number of votes was above 1,050.
He checked basic amenities and asked officials to provide drinking water, toilet facility, ramps for differently abled persons for the convenience of voters.
