Noles Claim Five Victories on Day One of Bob Pollock Invitational

DAY ONE RESULTS CLEMSON, S.C. – The Florida State track and field team wasted no time on day one of the Bob Pollock Invitational. With five wins and many personal record performances the FSU team has made it clear that they have no desire to step back from their indoor success. “Great opening day for us. Nicole Fegans Breaks Women s 5K Indoor School Record – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Long distance runner Nicole Fegans broke the Georgia Tech women’s indoor 5K record on Saturday afternoon as she raced to a 16:06.50 finish at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C. Fegans mark of 16:06.50 shattered the previous top performance of 16:12.26 set by Renee Metivier in 2002. Her 5K time was nearly ten full seconds faster than her previous personal best of 16:16.28. During the final lap Fegans clocked in at just 33.73 seconds, the fastest mark in the 25th lap for the entire field. “Breaking the record today exceeded all expectations I had,” Fegans said. “Especially because this was just the second meet of the indoor season for me. All of my teammates cheering me on from the sidelines kept me going when it started to get really hard; I am lucky to have them. I am excited to see what is to come the rest of the season and cannot wait to see what the rest of the ladies are capable of!”

Arkansas improves world best in 4×400 relay to cap team victory

Shawn Price January 22, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks closed out the Wooo Pig Classic with a world-leading performance in the 4×400 relay in what may have been a preview of the NCAA Indoor final in March. It was one of many highlights in another team victory by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center. A tally of 129 points earned the team victory for the Razorbacks over Texas (72), LSU (64), Southern California (53), Kentucky (51), Oklahoma State (33) and Missouri (31). “We cap off a great day with the 4×400 and run 3:32 against a great field,” stated Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “USC, Texas and Kentucky are always greatly respected sprint powers.

Anavia Battle Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Anavia Battle, Ohio State track and field’s outstanding All-American and seven-time Big Ten Conference champion, has earned the initial women’s track athlete of the week honor by the conference. The Big Ten made the announcement on Wednesday. Battle, a senior from Inkster, Mich., and Wayne Memorial High School who is majoring in human development and family studies, returned to her home state to compete in the Simmons-Harvey Big Ten Invite, hosted by the University Michigan, and came away with two wins in two races and two meet records. The 2020 Big Ten indoor track athlete of the championships and the year, Battle broke the Simmons-Harvey record by winning the 60-meter dash in 7.35, breaking teammate Devine Parker’s year-old mark of 7.37. And later in the afternoon Battle broke her own Simmons-Harvey meet record at 200 meters (23.50 in 2019) by cruising to a win in 23.26.

Razorbacks display talent in winning Arkansas Invitational

Shawn Price January 16, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Displaying quality and depth in various events, the Razorbacks opened the 2021 campaign with a dominant victory in the Arkansas Invitational held Saturday inside Randal Tyson Track Center. Totaling 229 points, the Razorbacks topped a seven-team field which included Oklahoma (118), Arkansas State (61), and Harding (30). “No. 1 we’re super excited we got our opener out of the way and everybody is healthy,” noted Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “It’s a good, strong indicator that people took care of themselves during the holidays. “Next week we’ll see some great competition and we look forward to continuing to evolve and handle the challenges that are yet to come.”
