I think it’s an important addition to us being able to fulfill our mission, LoBasso said. There have been a lot of articles about community colleges across the country offering this, because apartments are getting expensive. So, I think this is an important asset to have for our students.
The residence hall will be built on the site of the buildings 210 (Karl Learning Resources Center) and 340 (Davidson Hall), which were both more than 40 years old and have been demolished. The new dorms will be adjacent to the bookstore, the Greene Center and the Arts & Sciences Hall. It ll help retention of students involved in this housing because they’re right here on campus. The library’s right here. The tutoring is right here, LoBasso said.

Jamestown First Assembly’s new youth pastor began working at the church on Jan. 16.
The Rev. Shawn Hirst graduated in 2020 from Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, N.D., with Bachelor of Arts degrees in youth ministry and biblical studies.
At First Assembly, Hirst leads the youth services for middle school through high school students as well as other duties.
“I definitely feel called to youth ministry,” he said. “Since I’ve been at Trinity either I was leading the traveling youth ministry team or I was a part of it or involved in some local church. Youth ministry was always at the forefront of my mind while I was studying.”
