Teddy Movie Review: This Arya-Sayyeshaa Starrer Is Worth A Watch!

Story Sree Vidhya aka Sree (Sayyeshaa) gets kidnapped by an organ trafficking mafia. She falls in a coma due to overdosage of drugs, and her soul enters a teddy bear. Sree, in the form of Teddy, befriends a genius scholar named Shiva (Arya). How Shiva helps her find her real self thickens the plot. Script & Direction Shakthi Soundar Rajan, the writer-director deserves special mention for choosing this unique storyline. But when it comes to the movie experience, Teddy ends as an average experience. The movie begins on a promising note and keeps us glued to the screens with the freshness in its treatment. But like most films, things go downhill post the first half.

Teddy review: An average fantasy thriller Teddy Friday 12 March 2021 Director Arya, Sayyeshaa, Sathish, Karunakaran, Magizh Thirumeni Director Shakti Soundar Rajan has once again made an average fantasy thriller with his new film Teddy. The filmmaker has borrowed the Teddy angle from the 2012 Hollywood fantasy comedy Ted but Teddy is not a comedy film, it has a tried and tested organ trafficking angle which we have watched in umpteen Tamil films including Ajith s Yennai Arindhaal. Sri (Sayyeshaa) goes missing after she was sent in an ambulance for first aid. But the corrupt healthcare workers and doctors inject a medicine that puts her into Coma. But her soul gets into a cute Teddy Bear. Now, the teddy can walk and speak. It escapes from the hospital and roams across Chennai to find a safe place.

Arya in ‘Teddy’ | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement The Arya-starrer which opted for an OTT release lacks entertaining components to warrant a watch, despite its impressive soundtrack Teddy has an unreal story line. Worse still are the unrealistic plot points which make it tough to look beyond the misfires and for the positives, if any, in the craft. The film begins and ends with Sayyeshaa; these are the only two portions in the film featuring her. A college student Srividhya (Sayyeshaa) takes pity on a guy who has met with an accident and tries to help him but injures herself in the process. An ambulance arrives and whisks both victims away. At the hospital, doctors who are part of an organ trafficking network induce Sayyeshaa into a coma following which she proceeds to have an ‘out-of-body’ experience; her ‘spirit’ possesses a teddy bear.
