Former Pa. cop faces 122 charges over accusations he sexually abused boys 20 years ago

A former police officer in Bucks County is accused of sexually abusing four teenaged boys 20 years ago, authorities said.
James Carey, 52, turned himself in Wednesday morning to face 122 charges, including multiple counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16, aggravated indecent assault of a child under the age of 16 and statutory sexual assault.
The offenses allegedly occurred between 1987 and 2009. Wednesday’s charges come after previous reports and investigations into Carey’s behavior did not result in criminal charges being filed, prosecutors said.

A man living in Cape May Court House was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexually abusing four teenage boys he encountered while he a Warminster Township police officer, dating as far back as the 1990 s.
James Carey, 52, faces a total of 122 counts of aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, official oppression, corruption of minors and related offenses.
“A police officer’s creed is to protect and serve his community,” District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. “In a perverse and criminal dereliction of his duty, James Carey instead took advantage of his power and credibility while on the job as a police officer to sexually abuse our community’s most vulnerable: our children.

Authorities identify man fatally shot by cop after allegedly stealing police car

The man shot and killed by a Franklin Township police officer Monday afternoon, after he allegedly stole a patrol vehicle, was identified Tuesday as a 41-year-old Cape May Court House resident, authorities said.
Police in the Gloucester County town responded to provide mutual aid after a crash near the intersection of Cumberland Road and Tuckahoe Road in Buena Vista in neighboring Atlantic County around 3 p.m., according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
After a Franklin officer got out his police vehicle, one of the drivers involved in the crash, identified Tuesday afternoon as Roy K. Jackel Jr., jumped in the patrol car and drove away, the office said.
