Kannada and culture minister Aravind Limbavali said the fresh schedule will be announced after March 9. “Since the central government has extended Covid-19 restrictions till February 28, the government thought it prudent to postpone the event which attracts lakhs of people.,” the minister said. Work on concretisation of the eight-kilometre road is expected to get under way soon. MLA Arvind Bellad said that, although the road was slated to be developed using money allocated under the Central Road Fund (CRF), a contractor who was assigned the task had walked away from the project owing to delay in the disbursement of funds. “Those contracted under CRF are not being paid regularly,” Bellad rued.
