Rohini Sindhuri, his Mysuru counterpart, in Mysuru on Friday
While the vaccination dry run on Friday in the Mysuru region was largely a smooth affair, there were some glitches.
In Shivamogga district, it looked more like a routine affair with people milling around the health centres. Taluk hospitals of Soraba, Thirthahalli and Bhadravathi besides PHCs in Agumbe, Holaluru and Tunga Nagar in Shivamogga city were part of it. It was also conducted at two private hospitals. The health authorities seemed to focus on decorating the centres rather than conforming to the SOPs. Designated staff in government hospitals arrived late and district officers did not maintain social distancing.

BENGALURU: A statewide Covid-19 vaccination dry run will be conducted on Friday. The mock drill without actual inoculation will take place at 263 vaccination session sites across 30 districts.
A dry run was held on January 2, but only in five districts. These runs are to ensure the drive proper goes off without a hitch. The mock drill includes planning and preparation- related prerequisites to introduce the vaccine and use of Co-WIN portal where beneficiary and session site details will be uploaded. Documents will be verified at session sites.
The Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (CoWIN) software was developed by IIT Delhi. It will be used to monitor vaccine delivery to beneficiaries. The software can also track the temperature at which the vaccine is stored. Every person who is vaccinated will be tracked for adverse effects, authorities said.

HUBBALLI: Although it has been more than five years since the Union ministry of environment and forests and climate change issued a fresh set of guidelines for controlling the emission of polluting gases at power stations, many such units in Karnataka continue to violate these norms. A study conducted by the Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has classified three units of the Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS) as ‘unclean’.
According to the colour code used by the researchers for the study, those units classified under ‘yellow’ are considered cleaner, while those marked ‘orange’ or ‘red’ are considered unclean and hence, dangerous. Units one, two and three at the BTPS have been grouped under the ‘orange’ class. Among the findings in the study submitted by the researchers is that BTPS has failed to check emissions of sulphur-di-oxide (SO2). The Union ministry’s norms show that unchecked SO2 emission is

HUBBALLI: Hulkoti gram panchayat (GP) in Gadag district has been ranked joint first in the Mission Antyodaya 2020 national survey conducted by the central rural development and panchayat raj ministry. This village of 11,794 residents is about 390km from Bengaluru and shares the top spot with Sulthanpur and Yelkurthi, both in Telangana.
It’s also a model for other GPs in implementing government schemes and utilising funds effectively. Hulkoti GP, established in 1962, has brought in major changes for residents by improving infrastructure, supply of clean drinking water, upgrading health facilities, good roads and increasing literacy rate, among other things. All these helped it score 90% in the survey. These are provisional rankings of 2,26,275 gram panchayats which have uploaded the data.
