kropff. and i'm ian reitz. for most young people, college is a time of focusing on studying and working to get a degree. but because of limited incomes, many students find themselves struggling to buy food. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in the newsroom this morning. emerald, a lot of people don't realize the financial students face. but one student who saw his classmates struggling opened up an on-campus food bank to make sure no one goes hungry. yeah, we all see college as this avenue towards a successful career and higher wages. so sometimes it's hard to see college students as seriously struggling as disadvantaged. but justin franks at alabama a&m university was hearing stories about his classmates skipping meals and going to bed hungry. that really bothered him, so with just 40 out of his dorm building. so far, the response has been overwhelming. his story has been shared hundreds of times on facebook, and the donations just keep coming in. this problem is much bigger than you might imagine. much bigger than you might imagine. according to a recent report that surveyed thousands of college students across theio nearly 48 percent of students reported suffering from some form of food insecurity. and it was more common among students of color and first generation college students. we've got a link on our facebook page if you want to help out. and for 6:30, i'm looking into what options students have if they are in school, working and still having trouble keeping enough food around to keep them healthy and nourished. back to you. we all know how important it is to vote and make our voices heard. but can you place and being told you already voted and wouldn't be allowed to cast a ballot? 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live at the manatee county supervisor of elections office. sarah, this happened to a lakewood ranch woman and we want to keep it from happening to anyone else. yes, you can imagine how furious you would be if this happened to you and you knew you were being honest about not yet casting a ballot. that's why this story is getting a lot of attention this morning online and on facebook--- with all of wanting this happened and how to make sure it doesn't happen to you, too. after karen joseph after karen joseph was told a technical problem caused the computer to show she had already checked in at another polling place and a paper jam kept the machine from giving her a ballot, she was infuriated. the elections office only had one solution: a provisional ballot. but joseph wouldn't 10news to step in for help. here's what we found out to help you: every county has a canvassing board that reviews and validates any ballot with inconsistencies. although we're told situations like this are rare, it's important you fight to have your situation carefully scrutinized. in joseph's case that committee found she was right and allowed her to vote. on facebook, a lot of you are telling us there has got to track who is casting a ballot and when. you came up with some great ideas-- i'm going to dig into those at 6 and tell you if they could work...at 6:00. ian.... the reward is now up to 10- thousand dollars for information that leads to an arrest in the case of a deadly hit and run. one woman was killed, and a polk county deputy was severely injured. it's just one in a string of recent hit and run crashes. 10news spoke with a private investigator who says while challenging. investigators have the scene. the suspect from a second hit and run in pinellas was a second hit and run in pinellas was caught on camera this past weekend. after he left the scof there are still trying to locate the person seen in the video. a bizarre story out of jacksonville this morning. a man is facing 20 years in prison after he allegedly buried his mother himself to collect benefits. 56 year old brian lee adams admitted to investigators that his mother died of natural causes in july of 2014. he said he buried her in the backyard of their home and collected more than 35-thousand dollars in pension and social security government property and aggravated identity theft. there's another way to get around the bay area...who doesn't love that?
