so, as that moisture first arrives it starts as snow. but then we get the changeover. so, the change to rain really happens again from the southeast to the northwest. south jersey, delaware, it's pretty early tomorrow morning, between 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock. the i-95 corridor it's between 8 o'clock and 11 o'clock but that cold air will be holding on a lot longer in our far north and west suburb. don't get that changeover to rain until midday, between 11 o'clock in the morning and 2 o'clock in the afternoon and that ice could cause a lot of problems. this is the break down for that storm. the first part occurring early saturday morning midday that snow to ice to rain. saturday afternoon and saturday night we get a lull, just lots of clouds, some drizzle, some dense fog in the far northwest suburbs. sunday it's a rainy day and temperatures crash. we start the day in the 60's, drop down into the 40's. much colder by monday morning. i'll have more details on the storm and also how much snow to expect where you live coming up in the full accuweather forecast. jim. >> thank you cecily. let's switch live to "action news" reporter bob brooks who is at the penndot yard in norristown bob, what is penndot doing to get ready? >> reporter: jim, good evening. one word, salt. they're loading up on it. behind me here you see their huge stockpile out here in norristown. if that storm does hit, if that freezing rain does make it to our roads and make things icy they want to put that salt on it, break it up. whether it was penndot in norristown or crews in philadelphia, salt is being dump need trucks. the area embracing for a wintry mix that can get nasty. the report is freezing rain overnight and the roads could get dangerous. >> our crews will be working through the night into tomorrow morning keeping roadways passable but we urge motorists to use extreme care if they must drive in these conditions. >> reporter: the work began early today from chopper6 this morning we saw crews dumping salt on route one in langhorne bucks county. salt and shovels were on shoppers lift lists and that includes dan beach he hope the storm doesn't hit but better safe than sorry. talk precautions. >> yes. >> reporter: if you have to drive keep in mind these tips. >> just give yourself plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of. if you see a salt truck get out of the way so it gives them room to work. if you don't have to go out just stay home until the freezing rain stops. >> reporter: and that is the message. again the roads could get very dangerous overnight. do not drive if you don't have. reporting live in norristown bob brooks channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you, bob. deldot crews were busy loading trucks today in preparation for the wintry mix tonight. here at the deldot yard in christiana front end loaders were stocking trucks with salt and tanker trucks were filling up with brine. with both snow and rain in the forecast we urge you to stay with 6abc.com/weather throughout the weekend you can use storm tracker6 live radar to track the snow and that changeover to rain and check in with our meteorologists on associate. you can follow each of them on facebook and twitter for their regular updates. authorities have identified the woman found dead in her home in conshohocken this morning. police say 60-year-old katherine wanamaker suffered multiple stab wounds. police responded to the home at 909 hallowell street at 5:14 this morning for a report of a disturbance. authorities say a suspect is in custody awaiting arraignly. they have not identified who that suspect is. authorities are still looking for the cause of this morning's deadly fire in the cobbs creek section of philadelphia. the victim was a 10-year-old boy. "action news" reporter vernon odom is at the scene tonight. vernon. >> reporter: jim, the fire department got their first call just after 4:00 this morning so it's been 14 hours since tragedy hit this quiet closely knit section of cobbs creek caster ago pall over this section of southwest philadelphia. >> we couldn't get to the young man. the fire was just -- was just too much. >> reporter: this is a neighbor's eye iphone video of the fire that larry robinson tried to get through even before firefighters and police arrived at the wind driven inferno that consumed multiple row houses in there 1200 block of millick street. the 10-year-old victim's father l.a. got out of the fire and he's hospitalized tonight with severe burns. his 10-year-old boy l.a. the third perished on the second floor where he was trapped. >> these folks do such an outstanding job and they were risk their lives in there today and they're heartbroken. we all have kids. they're heartbroken that they couldn't do more but they really did try. >> honestly i just don't know what to say about the loss of the young man. he was a real nice kid. his father's real nice, hard working man. >> reporter: neighbors were able to rescue this woman from 1205 millick. it was 89-year-old may johnson's home for more than 50 years. her son was rescued as well. may johnson a recent stroke victim raised her family there and her children are grateful to the valiant neighbors. >> they picked her up and carried her over here because she's unable to walk or come out. >> reporter: thankful for their efforts. >> oh, my god, i am so, so grateful, thankful. >> reporter: five families in all it appears lost all their material belongings today. they're being helped tonight you by the red cross with food clothing and shelter. jim, fire inspectors say it's very likely that working fire alarms saved many lives out here today. no ruling yet on a cause yet from the fire marshal. live in cobbs creek, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news. jim. >> thank you, vernon. federal authorities have arrested a trio of bucks county officials and have charged them with money laundering. judge john waltman lower southampton director of public safety robert hoops and constable bernard rafferty accused of laundering $400,000 in cash. that was cash undercover officers told them were proceeds from healthcare fraud drug trafficking and bank fraud. the indictment says the three pocketed $80,000 in fees. the men face up to 80 years behind bars if they're convicted. officials are investigating what prompted a health scare at winslow township elementary school number one. firefighters responded to their school on the 100 block of charter of a at 11:30 this morning after two students passed out. they are okay. no other students affected and the school wasn't evacuated. philadelphia mayor jim kenney did a bit of shopping this afternoon. kenny checked out a few of the businesses along north 22nd street. commercial corridor in north philadelphia. the mayor wants to remind everyone to shop local for the holidays and to promote the fact that these businesses are opened despite construction in the area. philadelphia's new year's eve celebration will include two fireworks displays on the riverfront this year one at 6 o'clock, the other at midnight. today city officials and representatives with sugar house casino announced plans for the festivities and if you get stuck in traffic, all of the taxis in philadelphia will simulcast the big show. amazon made app special delivery today in middletown delaware. the company along with santa claus surprised the children at the boys and girls club with some early christmas presents. amazon donated $15,000 worth of toys and gifts to these youngsters. coming up on "action news" tonight a convoy of 75 trucks on a mission today hauling the proceeds of a massive food drive. and an eagles injury update and ron jaworski on what the birds must do to beat baltimore. details in the accuweather 7-day forecast. >> those stories and much more when "action news" continues tonight. >> ♪ >> the woman who stole baby jesus from a nativity scene in bethlehem and dropped the figurine off at a hospital told police it was a joke. police say jacqueline ross left a note saying the baby had been neglected by his parents joseph and mary christ. that's what she wrote. the 49-year-old was identified from surveillance video, you just saw the picture. police say ross went to the hospital on december 4th minutes after stealing the $2,700 figurine from the plaza. there are numerous food drives during the holiday season. none more worthy than any other but this one was certainly more dramatic than most. katherine scott has the story. >> reporter: a convoy of 75 toyota tundras and a police escort headed to citizens bank park. it spans the length of five football fields and carries thousands of pounds of food to help the hungry. this is the end result of the tenth toyota tundra food drive. >> this is a community where we make our living where we feed our families and we think it's important that we help feed other people's. >> reporter: this morning in north philadelphia each tundra pulled into position. then food was loaded into the vehicles at this philadbundance warehouse. soon it was time for the 7-mile trek under police he is court citizens bank park to be received by awaiting cheering crowd. >> one in eight in america are food insecure. right in our area it's one in five. so, in the delaware valley there's about 750,000 people who are food insecure today. >> reporter: this food goes a long way. >> this food, this donation it really goes a long way to help those in needism the food was purchased through donations made by the tri-state toyota dealers association and 26 of the dealers business partners including 6abc. our pickup carried a pallet of corn flakes. all told an estimated 330,000 pounds of food will be delivered to philadbundance over the next several months. >> part of the message we're trying to get out is it's coming on christmas, a festive time of the year people are hungry. people are hungry 365 days a year. while it's important for us to do it now it's for people to remember this is something we need to think about every day. >> reporter: of course this is a serious cause but it was a festive atmosphere today, a celebration of so many different partners working together for a common cause an celebration of the drive's biggest donation yet. in south philadelphia, katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> a very special celebration took place today in cherry hill. connie pelucci marked her 102nd birthday surrounded by family and friends at the spring hills assisted living facility. connie says the secret to her longevity is that she worked to two jobs for much of her life. she was a glass blower during the day and worked the night shift as a nurse. another key to her long life connie says she always ate anything she wanted. >> ♪ >> snow. >> fair to say the eagles will have a tough task in baltimore on sunday. >> they are short-handed trying to avoid losing for the ninth [vo:]it's nice to know that raymour and flanigan is proud to be a leading recycler- 17 million pounds of recyclable materials every year. turned from trash into treasure. so in the future, we will all have a more beautiful world. ♪ >> so, we've got some serious weather coming into the tri-state area. serious weather already here. >> yeah and it will be a fantastic week for staying indoors by the fire, maybe wrapping your holiday gift, doing some baking. not a great weekend for being outdoors but we'll have some dry opportunities. >> got to do that baking. >> got to bake those christmas cookies. storm tracker6 live double scan showing tonight it is dry out there but it's another very cold day. our high 26. that's a whopping 18 degrees below normal. 24 in philadelphia. wilmington, allentown, 23 in reading, 22 in trenton and 24 at the atlantic city airport. now, satellite6 along with action radar showing we did see some sunshine today but the clouds have rolled in in advance that of two part system that will bring us snow, ice and rain, rain and wind. so, we're getting a little bit of everything. this is the snow right now moving across the midwest and it will take awhile to get here. future tracker showing we could have a few snow showers around 1 o'clock. i think this may be a little bit overdo. i think there's a better chance areas to the north but it really fills in before day break. by 6 o'clock in the morning actually some heavy snow philadelphia areas to the north but look what happens across south jersey. already a changeover to rain. that happens pretty quickly and that changeover will be advancing up to the north. the problem areas, the far northwest suburbs. 9:30 it's raining along the i-95 corridor but we have a lot of icing across parts of lehigh valley, northern berks county, the poconos and then we get some dry air. a lull in the action by 1 o'clock, just clouds, a little bit of drizzle possible and then we get that second part of the system arriving on sunday. as far as the front end snow, extreme south jersey, delaware, you're not going to see anything. you get closer to interior south jersey, new castle county could get a coating to an inch. again this is before that changeover to rain. philadelphia right on that 1 inch line. the northwest suburbs one to 3 inches but then you get north of reading, you get into lehigh valley, the poconos, this is where we get higher accumulations about three to 5-inches before some of that icing and then the rain. this is my biggest concern, the icing. north of the pennsylvania turnpike we're looking at the potential for one to 210ths of an inch of ice. that could coat any untreated surfaces right weigh. very slippery. if you have errands to do good idea to wait until later dain the day after about 2, 3 o'clock. north of the pennsylvania turnpike should be getting a lot better. future tracker showing on sunday morning look at these temperatures. up near 60 degrees as that cold front gets closer bringing us some periods of rain. by 1 o'clock it's still raining, 53 degrees. if you're heading to baltimore, to the eagles game, 1 o'clock, temperatures will be in the 40's with rain. it's going to be wet. 6 o'clock still rain east of i-95 and this is when temperatures drop around 40 in philadelphia and then overnight into monday morning, temperatures dropping into the 20's. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, snow, ice to rain from the south to the north tomorrow, 44 degrees. we got a lull in the action in the afternoon, saturday night. sunday it's a rainy day. we start with temperature in the 60's, fall to about 40 in the afternoon. overnight low 27 so any puddles will be freezing solid. monday it's dry, brisk and cold, 34. tuesday not a bad day, partly sunny with a high of 40. wednesday winter begins and it begins on a mild note. 45 degrees. thursday mostly cloudy for the eagles game. could have some showers around, 46 and friday clouds mixing with sun with a high of 44 degrees so kind of a complicated week. will i have an update on "action news" tonight at 11:00. >> all right. thank you cecily. finally santa took some time out of his busy schedule today to make a stop in wilmington with mrs. claus on his arm santa visited the saint michael school and nursery. brought along several wilmington police officers to help him out. santa handed outer candy canes to the little ones and asked them whether that was been naughty or night. one of the helpers even brought along an elf on a shelf just to make sure. abc's "world news tonight" with david muir is next on channel6.
