>> reporter: a moore told investigators she gave birth to a baby boy on february 11th but the child only lived a few hours and she never told anyone the baby died. she told police "i held him and all those feelings rushed back. i just wandered my baby. it felt like you a holding my son again. it felt so good. i didn't want to lose that feeling. i was crazy. police have not been able to confirm a moore's pregnancy saying the investigation is onglowing she has told our investigators that she did not go to the mall with the intention to steal a baby. >> reporter: cherie a moore was unable to post $500,000 cash bail this afternoon so she is locked up in the montgomery county correctional facility. she's due back in court for a preliminary hearing on friday april 15th. now we spoke to the mother of a moore's boyfriend today and she says she is skeptical that a moore was pregnant at all and we will have much more on that angle of the story coming up tonight at 6 o'clock. we're live in kidding about the rollercoaster weather headed our way this week. looking live outside right now you would never know it gorgeous. today sunshine but we are tracking thunderstorms and highs near 80. by sunday, though, the lows will be close to freezing. meteorologist cecily tynan live at the big board with the first look at the forecast and a way to explain it all to us. hey, cecily. >> hi, monica. buckle up. we've got a wild ride of weather on the way. it starts with warm temperatures and thunderstorms. storm tracker6 live double scan showing that we he do have a severe thunderstorm warning for lancaster county now until 6 o'clock. the cell i've been tracking has wind gusts more than 60 miles per hour and even the potential for penny sized hail and this is moving very quickly to the northeast at about 55 miles per hour. so, bow man'sville, bear town, church town, morgantown, below plowville, tracking north of honey brook towards pottstown over the next hour and 70 lightning strikes in the past 15 minutes so if you hear thunder you want to get inside immediately because lightning can be deadly. so, this is what to expect for the next few hours. the cold front will have a broken line of thunderstorms ahead of it. what this means is that not everyone will get a thunderstorm but it should be rolling through the i-95 corridor between about 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock tonight so impacting the evening commute and if you do get a thunderstorms it will come down with some gusty winds and some heavy downpours as well as some thunder and the lightning. ahead of this front we're near 80 degrees, near roar recor recd warmth. there's another much stronger front waiting in the wings. that will roll through tomorrow night. so this is what to expect. the weekend starts wet tomorrow morning some showers, then powerful winds saturday night through the day on sunday. we're looking at wind chills in the 20's and 30's. all the details coming up in the full accuweather reporter: hey, guys. 31 years ago today, the villanova wildcats won the 1985 national championship and here we are back at the final four in houston, nova just two wins away from winning their second title in school history. they are oh, so close. the wildcats can taste it. for nova nation and of course the city of philadelphia. >> the 85 team is so special at villanova, it's so magical. there's a side of me he i don't want to mess with that but i'd really like to see it for our guys. >> reporter: as special as the 1985 team is, this group of villanova players could go down as the best. these cats are a win away from the most wins in school history and in their sight as well ending the city of philadelphia's championship drought. >> for the city i think it would be great. i think our professional teams are unfortunately not doing too hot and i think that if we could do -- if we could do that i think that would be great -- bring great pride to the city. >> reporter: villanova is shooting for the stars. they're dreaming about cutting down the nets but first they have to get by oklahoma tomorrow to get to their third title game in school history on monday to even have a shot. >> it would be crazy. that's something that you grow up watching and, you know, you dream about hearing that moment when you're on the court cutting down the nets and you have the confetti flying on you with your brother. you definitely want to have that feeling. >> reporter: it's the biggest stage in college basketball but villanova insists they are focused not on the hype but on beating oklahoma and cutting down the nets here in houston in the final four, just like they did in louisville in the elite eight, they would love to go home with a piece of this net. we're live in houston, several issues on 95 this afternoon but they haven't caused the sort of delays that the issues this morning caused. however, that crash northbound past washington avenue still there in the left lane. broken down school bus northbound by the vine has cleared out. still watching a crash along citi city avenue at overbrook avenue so i would expect plenty of slowing through there as you travel through saint joe's. a pair of issues along 100 this afternoon in douglas township there's a crash at county line and 100 and then in south coventry a vehicle broke down along 100 at 23. association the fire police are helping around there. finally patched that gas main break in ewing township along 31 but now there's police activity in trenton along 29 northbound at cass street. probably not the best man is behind bars tonight for allegedly killing his wife and then running from the scene. police found cynthia fortune at the scene of a car crash in delran township about 11:30 last night. her throat had been slashed. and her husband quentin was that found at a nearby diner with what appeared to be blood on his clothing. "action news" reporter john rawlins live at the scene with the latest details on this, john. >> reporter: hi, brian. well, that 37-year-old suspect was taken into custody in this diner right lined me here without incident. but not before allegedly a pretty bloody fatal knife attack in the middle of route 130. the man and his wife were apparently in a chevy cruze northbound in the center lane with two cars on either side of them. >> and they actually looked like they bounced off of those two cars. those two cars kept going. but the suspect's car went into the median on route 130. >> reporter: burlington county prosecutor robert bernardi describing the start of a deadly incident. he says the suspect, 37-year-old quentin fortune got out of the chevy's passenger side as his wife got out of the driver's side. >> and he comes around to her side. you can't really see what's happening at that point but she is on the ground shortly thereafter. and that's where she is found. >> reporter: cynthia fortune later is pronounced dead of knife wounds to her neck. her husband allegedly reaches inside another car with women in it. they managed to get away and make it to a wawa down the road. >> that this woman or women came into the wawa with blood on their hands and were attempting to go in their to wash off. we don't know who they are. they know who they are. and i'm asking them to come forward because they can be of assistance to us. >> reporter: it's believed the women were driving a compact to mid-sized silver car. >> we'd love to have those people come forward. they're not in any problem here at all, they're just witnesses. >> reporter: now, it's alleged the suspect tried to carjack a second car. that was a failure as well. he then -- it's apparently believed they took off his clothes which were apparently covered in blood. by the time he was finally arrested by delran police he was only wearing boxer shorts a t-shirt and sneakers. live in delran, john rawlins channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you john. autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the u.s. now some new research shows that a child's risk for autism can be measured through their eyes. researchers at the cleveland clinic showed videos of people interacting with 79 different children and they found most children diagnosed with autism focus on nonsocial items rather than on faces. scientists want to turn that research into an objective measurement in hopes of identifying the risk of autism early on. >> well, you may be drawing on a new benefit from your morning cup of coffee. researchers at the university of southern california studied more than 5,000 people. they found that those who drank even one cup of coffee per day had a lower chance of colorectal cancer. that type of cancer is one of the more common in men and women. scientists also compared people who drank decaf versus regular coffee and both seemed to have a lower risk. that leads them to believe it's the coffee and not just the caffeine that is providing the benefit. >> it was a dream come true for some visually impaired children in montgomery county. a prom for tiny takes at overbrook school for the blind and it was everything and more as katherine scott reports tonight. >> reporter: the dancing, the dresses, the photos, the fooled it's everything you want in a prom and they haven't even hit kindergarten. for the first time overbrook school for the blind held a prom for their early childhood program. these three to five-year-olds might be young but they know how to work the red carpet. after the grand entrance the hollywood themed dance floor was waiting. educators had this idea months ago and worked to make it reality. >> this is a celebration of springtime and they just put this altogether and came up with this idea. >> she's a fashionista and our kids are fashionistas and they always dress so beautiful and one day we were like you know what we need to have a prom. >> reporter: go to the prom they d these kids were so excited talking about it. they were afraid they missed it. >> forgot to dance. >> reporter: not to worry, there was plenty of twirling time. >> "action news" big board. >> cecily tynan here to put a smile on them. >> smiling with temperatures in the 80's, right. today we had a good amount of sunshine but now things are changing. we have some turbulent weather moving in. storm tracker6 live double scan showing a line of thunderstorms from berks county, northwest chester county, parts of lancaster county and this line has really blossomed. we've had 60 lightning strike in the past 15 minutes and it's moving east-northeast pretty quickly at about 50 miles per hour. so, coventryville, ludwigs corner, eagle, pew town pottstown and buck town in the path of line of storms and pretty tough as you drive around the pennsylvania turnpike right now north of honey brook this is where we have very heavy downpours with this line and again i wouldn't be surprised if we have a little bit of small hail. they have now canceled the severe thunderstorm warning but still that line is pretty intense as it rolls through and what this will do is provide the first of a stepping down in temperatures. ahead of it, it's warm. philadelphia it's 80 degrees. wilmington is 78. millville 77. lancaster, though, a rain cooled 68 degrees and there's a second front that rolls through tomorrow night and that will have the much cooler air. satellite6 along with action radar slowing we had kind of a sunshine sandwich today. at 11 o'clock we had showers, even a few thunderstorms at the coast and then that batch moved out. we have the sunshine, temperatures in the 80's and now this broken line of thunderstorms ahead of that cold front right there, that will be rolling through in the evening hours and again not everyone will see them but those who do, expect thunder, lightning and some heavy downpours and some gusty winds. so, future tracker showing we have that line rolling through the i-95 corridor around 6 o'clock tonight pushing off the coast around 8 o'clock. but this cold front comes back to haunt us tomorrow. there's a wave of low pressure developing along that. what that will do, it will pull the front west pardon and pull in some rain. so 7 o'clock tomorrow morning lots of clouds with some showers, especially i-95 and areas southeast. looks like the showers will continue around lunchtime. late in the day the best bet of seeing some sunshine but then the arctic front rolls through late on saturday night, early sunday morning and, yes, we're talking no fooling about the potential for even a coating of snow across the poconos but really the big impact with that second front will be the winds. a high wind watch has been posted for our entire viewing area midnight saturday through noon on sunday. we're talking about wind gusts 50 to 60 miles per hour, so potentially damaging, could cause some power outages and definitely have an impact on the way it feels. the five day forecast showing tomorrow 62. temperature not bad. showers, mostly cloudy. on sunday, though, the high 47 but wind chills no better than the 30's. what was bump it up to 65 degrees on monday with rain with our next front back down to 45 on tuesday. wednesday 49 degrees but after wednesday i'm tracking more rain on the way. >> now to the 2016 presidential race today it's made its way to the keystone state. the candidates vying for their party's nomination are revving up operations in pennsylvania ahead of the crucial primary here at the end of the month. republican hopefuls john kasich and ted cruz will speak to conservative actor 50's at the pennsylvania leadership council in camp hill cumberland county today. republican frontrunner donald trump will not be there. he declined the invitation. and on the democratic side hillary clinton will be in philadelphia and pittsburgh next week and bernie sanders held a rally in pittsburgh yesterday. both campaigns are opening up their offices in several big cities. well, the democrats setting their sights on the delegate rich state of new york this while trading jabs over campaign tricky contributions. lauren list life with the latest on all of it. hi, lauren u hi, brian. wisconsin may be the next big presidential contest but the democratic candidates hillary clinton and bernie sanders focused on campaigning in new york where a new poll shows clinton leading by 12 points. bernie sanders on "gma" doubling down on accusation that is hillary clinton takes big donations from big oil. >> the fact of the matter is secretary clinton has taken significant sums of money from the fossil fuel industry. >> reporter: sanders repeating an attack he's made on the campaign trail coming just a day after clinton said this to a greenpeace activist asking her to reject fossil fuel contributions. >> i am so sick of this. >> reporter: who is right. according to the center for response tiff politics and the numbers clinton's camp is citing employees have contributed just under $3,000 but also $54,000 to sanders. the sanders campaign has been citing a greenpeace report focusing on lobbyists. oil and gas lobbyists have given $126,000 to the clinton campaign. the report cites large donors connected to the fossil fuel industry as giving 3.2 mitt onin donations to a super pac supporting hillary clinton. both sides now vying for votes in new york. clinton in her adopted home state talking about making manufacturing jobs for attractive. >> got to make it sexy. i agree with that. >> reporter: the vermont senator packing in a crowd of nearly 20,000 in the bronx. >> if we win here in new york, we are going to make it to the white house. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: meantime the state department announcing today it's halting an internal review of hillary clinton's most sensitive e-mails until an fbi investigation is complete. this in relation to clinton's use of a private e-mail server when she was secretary of state. live in washington, i'm lauren lyster, channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you lauren. now to the latest on the brussels terror attacks. it's still unclear when the international airport there will reopen but a key hurdle to that process was cleared today apparently. police unions in brussels had threatened to strike due to safety concerns. however, a preliminary deal was reached late today that will bolster security including new monitoring systems and the hiring of 200 additional airport police. a belgian governmental official says appears passenger service will be back on track and set to resume on a reduced level this sunday morning. in front of several world leaders today president barack obama spelled out the dangers of terrorists getting their hands on insecure nuclear material. he spoke at a nuclear security summit in washington. obama says the world has measure plea reduced the risk but concern remains. >> the size of an apple could sill or injure hundreds of thousands of people. it would be a humanitarian, political, economic and environmental catastrophe. >> reporter: obama said today no terrorist group has succeeded in getting a nuclear weapon or dirty bomb but that al-qaeda has long sought nuclear materials and the islamic state group has used chemical weapons. world news tonight with david muir will have much more on president obama and the nuclear summit as well as the latest on the 2016 presidential race. you can watch all that following "action news" at 6:00. >> we've got some breaking news right now out of spring garden section of philadelphia. police are on the scene of an accident there apparently involved al philadelphia police cruiser striking a pedestrian. we now know that that pedestrian was a 13-year-old child. that child has been taken to hahnemann hospital. injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. we are told that the police cruiser was apparently on its way to assist another police officer on some kind of call when this accident took place. obviously police there remain on the scene investigating but again a 13-year-old suffering nonlife-threatening injuries has been hospitalized at this hour. we'll bring you the latest on this as the newscast continues. lawmakers and police in wilmington, delaware, issued a public plea for peace today following two homicides this week. one happened early this morning. the other on tuesday night. police chief bobby cummings and city council members held a news conference late today on elm street to ask residents for a cease violence. >> i'm asking all the young men who feel it necessary to kill someone in retaliation for what has been taking place in the streets of wilmington to stop and put your guns down. i'm asking you right now if black lives matter, then why are you killing one another? get lost in every embrace. into sports? follow every pitch, every play and every win. change the way you experience tv with x1 from xfinity. >> it may be warm out there right now but predictions of near freezing temperatures in a few days are raising a whole lot of concerns for south jersey farmers. nora muchanic has the story. >> it's very nerve wracking. i wasn't expecting it. >> reporter: at h. lig orchards they're worried. the temperature is scheduled to dip to freezing and that could have a devastating effect on his peach trees. >> about three weeks ago we had three days in the low 80's and the peaches woke up and they just haven't really stopped. the problem is that these peaches are in full bloom and there's a little pistol inside here and that's what gets killed by the cold weather. >> reporter: helig orchards pro pews peaches every ye. if the cold weather damage the buds on the trees it could wipe out the crop for the entire season. >> oh, it could wipe out the crop definitely. if it gets down to 25 for an extended period of time it will definitely hurt the crop. >> if all these blossoms get frozen, we're going to be in big trouble. there's not really too much we can do about it. >> reporter: last year helig lost a thousand peach trees to cold weather which is why he's worried about freezing forecasts. >> i check the weather basically every two hours during the day to see if that number changed. >> reporter: new jersey ranks fourth nationally in peach production. keeping frost off the crops is a major concern in south jersey where farmers produce over a hundred varieties of the juicy fruit in soil that's ideal for growing peaches. carl hopes mother nature won't mess with that. >> it could be bad, it could be good but right now it's pretty scary. >> reporter: in mullica hill, i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." >> jamie is here with sports. going wild for the wildcats. >> how can you not. really exciting, guys. 31 years ago tonight where were you? "action news" was on hand this morning when he presented the ipads to 76 kids who attend various schools across philadelphia. that is one greates great testao the philadelphia police department. >> let's talk about a changing accuweather forecast. cecily tynan in. things up and down. >> we hit 80 degrees. now we've got strong storms moving in. storm tracker6 live double scan slowing a pretty intense band of thunderstorms working through our northwest suburbs and in fact the national weather service has now issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of montgomery, bucks, hunterdon county for the potential for quarter size hail and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. that warning is in effect until 6:15 so i want to show you the area we're talking about the warning. this is really with the leading edge of the thunderstorms. it's crossing 309 right now it's moving east-northeast at about 50 miles per hour so moving pretty quickly so dublin bedminster dan borrow in the track of the storm. this view alone the past 15 minutes we've had more than a hundred lightning strikes. if you hear that rumble of thunder you got to get inside immediately. get the kids indoors and this band of thunderstorms really extends well down to the south through chester county, right now over oxford, route one and this is all moving to the east. this isn't severe. we've had six lightning strikes but this is the band that will be moving towards philadelphia as we head through the evening hours and that's the first in ahsir reece of cold fronts that will bring us a dropping down in temperatures. but ahead of that front with the winds out of the south it was warm today. the high soared up to 80 degrees, only 1 degree shy of our record high of 81 set back in 1978. it's still warm out there. 80 in philadelphia, 78 in trenton, 78 in wilmington. notice lancaster you already got the rain so a rain cooled 68 degrees. and cape may cooler with the winds off the congestion ocean 67 degrees. satellite6 showing the band, the broken line of thunderstorms ahead of the cold front. the cold front moved through overnight but it stalled and what happens away from low pressure currently over georgia rides along it so that helps the front move farther to the west tomorrow. it retrogrades and that brings us the return of some showers. the future tracker showing south jersey you'll be getting some of these thunderstorms around 7 o'clock by 11 o'clock most of the activity off shore but it backs in in the morning hours. 8 o'clock we've got some scattered showers continuing through the lunchtime hour and then if we're lucky we'll see some peeks of sunshine especially north and west of philadelphia in the afternoon before the next arctic front, this blasts through early on sunday and yes, cold enough they could get a coating of snow in the poconos and what this really does is tap into the low level jet. it will be right over us, about the at the same time that front rolls through and that will help bring down winds up to about 60 miles per hour to the surface so a high wind watch lab posted across-the-board our entire viewing area. midnight saturday through noon on sunday wind gusts 50 to 60 miles per hour could be strong enough to cause some power outages and it's certainly going to make it feel like winter. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, showers, mostly cloudy tomorrow, 62 degrees. sunday 47 degrees but wind chills in the 20's and 30's. we bump it up to 65 on monday for before our next cold front brings us another round of rain and behind it 45 degrees the high on tuesday. look at that low. 26 degrees. so, freezing by wednesday morning. 49 degrees in the afternoon. our next round of rain arrives on thursday with a high of 59 degrees and the potential for some thunderstorms. the nice thing about this forecast, if you don't like the weather one day, wait one day. >> yeah, wait five minutes. >> the next day completely different. crazy week. >> very flexible. thank you cecily. >> thank you. >> future tv stars got to hear about the business today in radnor township delaware county. students at archbishop carroll high welcomed meteorologist, david murphy to career day today. he they learned about his favorite part of the job. who knows we may be seeing some of these young people one day here at "action news." can come on. >> ♪ >> suspect in the kidnapping in at the king of prussia mall has been charged. >> the villanova basketball team set to tipoff in the final four this weekend. alicia vitarelli sits down with the proud parents of ryan arcidiacono. >> and now for rick williams adam joseph cecily tynan jaime apody brian taff the entire "action news" team i'm monica malpass. have a great night a good weekend. we'll see you next week. "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live at the district justice's office. chad, what are the charges against amoore tonight? >> reporter: jim, amoore is charged with kidnapping unlawful restraint and other related charges. according to court records she told police she doesn't know why she did it. she can't explain it. cherie amoore said nothing amidst a gauntlet of reporters as she was escortd into district court where she was charged with kidnapping and other offenses. inside the courtroom she broke down and cried as she saw her parents sitting behind her. >> it's a very difficult day for everyone. it's difficult for her, it's difficult for her family. i mean, you saw her in the courtroom. she was, sharks shaken. >> reporter: police say amoore walked into the king of prussia mall yesterday engaged malekah hunter in conversation, then walked off with seven week old ahsir simmons.
