say it was clear from the very beginning that the child had been badly beaten and the me's finding would confirm that. >> this child had bruising all over his body, his face, his back, his arms, his legs, his genitals were even bruised. >> reporter: the parents were being watched by cys since january after the child ended up in the hospital covered head to toe in seasoned salt. grafton tried to claim the child did it himself but authorities didn't buy it. a few days before the child's death a cys caseworker tried to check on the boy but grafton would not answer the door fearing the caseworker would see the bruises and call police. >> we know from text messaging between mr. grafton and miss matthews that she was well aware of this, that he even indicated that there's a dude at the door and i don't want him to see mason's bruising. >> reporter: both have been charged with third degree murder, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and related offenses. both are are being sent to the delaware county prison without bail to await future court dates. we're live here in norwood delaware county, dann cuellar channel6 "action news." >> thankthank you dann. police say this man ronnie reid shot a man several times on march 28th outside the happy inn bar in darby. surveillance cameras caught the suspect allegedly pointing a gun at a group of people. police say reid then shot the victim four times before taking off. >> he just pulls out the gun and starts firing. you can see when the victim is hit the first time because the victim actually jumps and then he fires at least four more times or more. >> reid has several very distinctive tattoos on his face and arm like that one. police believe he may be in upper darby or philadelphia. he is currently wanted for attempted murder and other related charges. anyone with information is asked to call darby borough police department. >> philadelphia police say they've recovered the car that struck and killed a two-year-old boy and injured his mother in west kensington. the male owner of the white infiniti brought his vehicle to the 19th police district this morning. the man who is from williamsport says he was in town visiting family and a relative borrowed the car on the night of the hit and run. two-year-old david alicea was killed. >> meteorologist cecily tynan at the "action news" big board with the very latest from accuweather and some improvements coming month. >> monica tomorrow will likely be the warmest day so far this year. step outside it's certainly warm already. 73 degrees, winds out of the south and they will be again tomorrow so you look down to the south and see what kind of air mass there is down there. washington, d.c. 76 degrees. and richmond, virginia, it's 80 degrees and i wouldn't be surprised if some parts of our viewing area especially south of philadelphia do touch 80 degrees tomorrow. live double scan showing that not nearly as active as it was this morning but we have a couple showers popping up south of philadelphia. i have been tracking this since it evolved over chester county about an hour ago. you can see how it's moving out of arden delaware. it's crossing the delaware bay. it's moving towards salem and gloucester county, new jersey. no lightning strikes associated with that but there is one of those heavy downpours but this is really the only area of concern right now. so, your evening planner it's a friday night and it will be a mild friday knot night. nothing more than a light jacket is needed. at 7 o'clock 70 degrees, still a slight chance of an isolated shower. by 8 o'clock 68 degrees, 9 o'clock 65 and by 10 o'clock dropping down to 64 degrees. so, temperatures really not dropping very low this evening. so, what's ahead? it's going to be a dry weekend. lots of sunshine. however, big swings in temperature, kind of a tale of two seasons starting like summer ending like spring and then monday you can trade the sunglasses for umbrellas. it's going to be a soggy monday. all the details coming up in the full accuweather forecast rick. >> cecily thank you. in other news tonight a woman wanted for a robbery 21 years ago was finally tracked down by police in atlantic city. 49-year-old evelyn gonzalez was arrested during a three day sweep of fugitives and criminals. the atlantic county sheriff's office and the acpd conducted operation spring fracture. there has been an arrest for gonzalez since 1994. >> more than a dozen suspected child predators off the street following a sweep by the pennsylvania attorney general's office. they were targeting folks involved in child pornography. "action news" reporter chad pradelli live at the feltonville section of philadelphia where one of those arrests was made today. chad. >> reporter: hey, monica. agents raided this home in the 5100 block of bingham street just before noon. you can see some children's toys here in the yard and the ag's office said kids live here. it's also where they busted a man for child pornography. the attorney general herself was here this morning and we were along for the ride. >> come to the door right now. >> come to the door now. step out now. >> reporter: the attorney general's child predator unit raided this home on the 5100 block of bingham street. agents say they'd been watching a resident allegedly downloading child pornography over the past two weeks. >> this means a lot to the people in this area. you have child predators living amongst you and these people are danger to the children whether they're depicted in those videos or the children living in the neighborhood. >> reporter: pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane was along for the ride. >> limited intel on this case. >> reporter: and only "action news" was with her as agents began their briefing before the sweep. after raiding the home, harry ream perez was arrested and charged. >> he had 25 files containing child pornography depicting a little girl anywhere between five and eight years old. >> reporter: the nearly two week operation resulted in 22 arrests including ryan garner, the ag's officers says the 35-year-old sin metographer for animal planet was arrested outside a delaware county restaurant where he thought he was meeting a mother and her eight-year-old child. >> he suspected he was going to meet with the mother to buy her child for sex. >> we are what had watching. we will find you and we will arrest you and you will go to jail exactly where they should be. >> reporter: and the attorney general tells me this investigation is still very much ongoing and there could be more arrests. in out the left lane with emergency crews on the scene. also still have that one in warminster by the eagle diamond and archbishop wood along york road near street road and a new one along state road near bethlehem pike. in doylestown still have the downed wires along swamp road at york road there by slack airport and they're just finishing cleaning up a crash in upper merion along 23, valley forge road right by 422. there's one of the vehicles involved in the left side of your screen attached to a tow truck. should be completely out of here any minute. there's a new one in buena along brewster road at route 40 harding highway and half hour delays on njt's river line because of signal problems. we'll check it again rick and monica in the next half hour. >> sounds good. >> see you then. >> franklin square is sparkling clean tonight thanks to some peco volunteers. more than 20 peco energy workers spruced up the historic square as well as the betsy ross house. they planted one local high school student. those stories and more coming your way next at 5:00. >> we have breaking news right now out of philadelphia's tioga-nicetown section. police and firefighters other scene of a fire and a hit and run that may be linked to an alleged dispute between two women. the video just into "action news" from the 4400 block of north 17th street. pieces of a car are actually laying in the street. now, police tell us a woman was intentionally run over by another woman who then fled east on wingohocking. at the same time firefighters got a call about a house fire in the same block and within minutes the fire marshal was called there. "action news" reporter walter perez has just arrived on the scene. he's still going information he'll have a live report at 5:30. >> california health officials declared an mend to the measles outbreak that originated at disneyland. it sparked a debate about vaccinations. officials say no new infects have surfaced. the outbreak sickened 131 people in california and illnesses reported in half dozen states including mexico and can dam public health officials say it's unlikely it likely started with someone who caught the virus overseas and visited disneyland while contagious. >> the outbreak of hiv in a indiana community is getting worse. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman joins us at the big board with details. >> to put this in perspective scott county the county most affected there usually sees about five new cases in a typical year. as you said they're now up to 120 with 10 more probable cases. the spike in cases appears to stem from intravenous drug users sharing needles. governor mike pens temporarily waived indiana's ban on clean needle exchange programs for scott county. health officials are working to identify people who may have been exposed so that they can start treatment and so that they will not spread the virus to anyone else. also today a meeting in philadelphia tomorrow will put the spotlight on polycystic ovary syndrome or pcos. it's a disorder there affects millions of women but many don't know it or they don't understand it. so, one woman diagnosed about seven years ago decided to help change that. sasha has gone from pcos patient to patient advocate. she founded pcos challenge a nationwide group that provides information and support for women with polycystic overresyndrome. the disorder is best known for affecting a woman's chance of becoming pregnant. but after she was diagnosed sasha learned her doctor didn't mention the other serious effects. >> she didn't tell me about my risk for life-threatening conditions sump as diabetes. >> in pcos, the body produces more insulin but doesn't use it efficiently. women can gain a lot of weight and half will develop diabetes or prediabetes before the age of 40. it also raises the risk of heart disease and endomeet treial cancer. however many women don't know they have the syndrome. >> 50 percent of women with pcos are going undiagnosed. this is a real problem. they're going to five to seven doctors before they're being diagnosed and actually many women diagnose themselves before their physicians. >> so, she's teamed up with dr. katherine sharif and other doctors at jefferson university for a symposium to educate women and their doctors about pcos. dr. sharif says she's had success with a four-way treatment plan. >> the first way is nutrition. the second way is physical activity. the third way is supplements and the fourth way is indicated if medication -- if indicated is medication. >> the symposium is sold out but pcos challenge has more sessions around the country and have all of their information and resources online so we have a link to their site on 6abc.com. rick and monica, back over to you. >> thanks so much. >> thanks ali. >> saint christopher's hospital working to better protect children. they host their first suspected child abuse and neglect training also known as scan. the training is designed for professionals who are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect under state law. the goal, to help professionals recognize and report suspected abuse or neglect in children. that's a hard question. (laughing) we are the fay family from chesapeake, virginia. williamsburg is just beautiful. because we have thrill seekers and not such thrill seekers, i try to find something that everybody likes. this is a very good spot to do that. the most exhilarating part about this vacation was being with the whole family. it was amazing. >> ♪♪ >> in washington president barack obama said today that the way the senate has delayed confirmation of his attorney general nominee is simply embarrassing. >> there are times where the dysfunction in the senate just goes too far. >> he says his political games man ship that is keeping loretta lynch from the job. mr. obama says nearly all republicans agree that lynch is qualified but he says the five months that she's been waiting is longer than the previous seven attorney general nominees combined. >> call loretta lynch for a vote. get her confirmed. put her in place. let her do her job. >> one of the reasons senate republicans have opposed lynch is for her support of obama's immigration policies. if confirmed she would become the first african-american woman to serve as u.s. attorney general. >> pennsylvania governor tom wolf talked about jobs at a local community college today. toured the advance manufacturing training center in bristol today. he also discussed the importance of new jobs and rebuilding the middle class. the visit part of wolf's jobs that pay tour. the governor's plan calls for cutting the corporate net income tax in half and putting more money into job training. meantime the dupont hotel and country club are going up for sale in wilmington, delaware reportedly. the dupont company is reportedly taking bids on the historic 102 year old building. officials aren't commenting but sources say the chemical company is trying to increase shareholder profits and they may shed the two properties as part of that. back in january dupont sold the 130-year-old dupont theater. >> and still to come on "action news" at 5:00 tonight weekend will be dry it will be sunny and the temperatures are going to be changing between saturday and sunday. but double scan live looking a lot clearer than it was early this morning when we had a lot of showers. but there are two little areas i'm watching. there's this one batch of showers moving out of maryland. that will likely be crossing down through southern new castle county within the past hour and i have been tracking a cell of showers from chester county over through delaware and now it's over gloucester county but it's really just fizzling out. it's near swedesboro right now crossing 322 and you can see how it really has been losing its punch as it moves to the east but this is the same area of showers that moved through delaware about a half an hour ago and this was the result. thank you jennifer for posting this on my facebook page from bear delaware, route 37, you can see that rainbow there with the sun breaking through the clouds, enough moisture still in the atmosphere to create that rainbow. temperatures currently on the warm side. 73 degrees if philadelphia now, 72 in wilmington. reading also 72. trenton 70, millville 74, dover 75. the exception right along the beaches with the winds off the ocean. the ocean temperature in the upper 40's. temperatures along the beaches only in the upper 50's. satellite6 along with action radar showing again the bulk of the showers this morning, they moved off some breaks of sunshine still a spotty isolated shower possible for the next couple of hours but then this bubble of high pressure will be building in tomorrow and what this will do ahead of a cold front is bring us winds out of the south even stronger. so, we will be even warmer tomorrow than today and tonight for your friday night pretty mild. again, a spotty shower for the next few hours. then partly cloudy. overnight low of 55 degrees in philadelphia, 50 in millville 52 cape may, 47 in allentown 52 in wilmington and trenton. tomorrow future tracker showing temperatures off to the races. by 10 o'clock, already in the 60's by the afternoon first time we're seeing this, temperatures getting very close to that 80-degree mark but again the exception along the beaches it will be cooler temperatures in wildwood generally close to 70 degrees but still looking really nice. the problem though with the low humidity and the the fact that it is going to be breezy in the northwest suburbs you really do want to be careful with any open fires any grilling or tossed cigarette butts a fire weather watch is in effect because a brush fire could start and spread quickly. also the bad news when you get plenty of sunshine this time of year the pollen will remain high over the week. it will drop on minute as showers move n5 day at 5:00 plenty of sunshine, feeling like summer. 78 degrees. sunday cooler but still nice 64 degrees. monday wet and windy a soaking rain 61. tuesday up to 71 degrees but i'm tracking a big cool down next police and firefighters on the scene of a fire and a hit and run. they may be linked to an alleged dispute between two women. >> walter perez just paralyzed on the scene on the 4400 block of north 17th street. walter what can you tell us. >> reporter: rick and monica we'll give you a live look at the scene. officials on the scene of the fire but the story right now as you mentioned is of a terrible hit and run when a 24-year-old woman endured severe leg injuries when a vehicle reportedly went onto the sidewalk here on north 17th street and ran her over. the back story comes from the victim's friends and family who say the person behind the wheel was another young woman who was in a lingering dispute with the victim over a man. now witnesses we spoke with say the suspect was actually waiting down the street, waiting for the victim to come out of her home and when she did the suspect reportedly ran her down and quickly drove away. the victim's mother then runs out of the house as well. the victim and her mom live together, starts tending to her daughter. neighbors call 911 and the ambulance takes both the victim and her mother to einstein. in a tragic twist the mom in all the chaos left the stove running she was cooking dinner. left the stove on. went to the hospital. nobody else was inside and the home caught fire. we already have the opportunity to get some surveillance video of what police believe to be the vehicle driving away from the scene. the vehicle as you see is a white durango. at this point they have identified the suspect. the name has not been released anyone with information is asked to call 911. reporting live walter perez channel6 "action news." >> the ohio man accused of blotting a terror attack in the u.s. appeared in federal court today. authorities say he trained with extremists in syria. he was then sent back to the u.s. allegedly with marching orders to carry out an attack on a military facility or prison. the fbi claims he disappeared on his way from ohio to greece on a one way ticket last year. they say on a layover in turkey he disappeared into syria to join a branch of al-qaeda. authorities say they had been tracking the man since he returned to the u.s. last june. the man's mother and sister were in court today as a show of support. they had no comment to reporters. >> a large car bomb exploded next to the u.s. consulate in the northern iraqi city killing at least three people injuring five. that blast went off outside a cafe and also set several cars on fire. kurdish security forces quickly arrived. no americans were hurt. a faction of isis has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. a northern new jersey military bank has been evacuated according to what officials are calling a "possible explosive threat." it is going on right now in rockaway township. authorities say a driver tried to gain access to the base through a truck gate and the security personnel noticed a suspicious package in the vehicle. the driver was detained. officials are inspecting that package. all nonessential employees were told to leave. those who live on the base were told to shelter-in-place. and roads around the base have also been blocked off. >> a reported carjacking in delaware ended way dramatic chase an crash in northern maryland this afternoon. take a look at the aftermath here in elkton, maryland. authorities say this all started in bear around 2:00 p.m. state troopers reported the stolen blue chevy but the suspect refused to stop the vehicle. the chase continued onto route 40 into maryland and that's where witnesses say the suspect drove the wrong way and hit several cars head on. >> he struck the vehicle and then the police came up swarming, they had their guns drawn. they broke the passenger side window and i believe the driver's side window, he had his hands up. they pulled him out of the car. and got him on the ground handcuffed him. >> an elderly woman was flown to christiana hospital from the scene. no details yet about her condition. the driver behind the wheel of this crash in west oak lane this morning is suspected of being under the influence. this was the scene at 19th street and west cheltenham avenue just before 3:30 a.m. today. authorities say the 26-year-old man lost control and hit a tree. the impact forced the car to tip onto its left side tires. rescuers had to cut the man out of the vehicle. he was taken to the hospital with neck and head injuries. no one else was hurt. philadelphia police want the public to take a good look at the woman in this surveillance video. they say she walked into a south philadelphia 7-eleven and when the clerk wasn't looking allegedly stuffed her bag with all sorts of items. authorities say the clerks at the tenth street location confronted the woman but she just walked out. if you recognize her this south detective division would like to hear from you. >> the former chief of the atlantic city fire department at the center of a pants dropping scandal will still receive his retirement pension. former chief dennis brooks was put on administrative leave following an incident in march here at the public safety building. he was captured on camera literally dropping his pants in front of a female security guard who asked him to put all his metal items on a table. brooks retired from the force april 1st. meantime this 60-year-old maintenance worker richard wisher behind bars for allegedly stealing from residents at the lindsey house assisted living facility in pennsville. investigators say wisher stole several personal checks forged them then cashed them at local banks. nearly $18,000 were taken. wisher is being held on $25,000 bail tonight. when breaking you can use the #6abc action on social media. >> montgomery county officials outlined a plan today to show they are prepared in case disaster strikes. more than a million gallons of crude oil pass through pennsylvania trains that run along the schuylkill river and while most of it passes safely officials say they still need to be prepared just in case. county officials have hired a company to develop a response plan and have established partnerships with other agencies. officials say it's important to open the lines of communication between the private and public sectors that if the worst happens everyone is prepared. >> today philadelphia mayor michael nutter introduced the newly formed police community oversight board. the committee was established following a department of justice report commissioned by police commissioner charles ramsey. it made recommendations to create a more responsive service oriented police department. the board will review the current policies including those dealing with use of force. it will also develop a realistic approach to obtaining those goals. >> delaware's attorney general along with several lawmakers plan to introduce legislation aimed at protecting privacy online. ag matt den is proposing a package of four wide ranging bills, one prevents potential employers from improperly accessing social media accounts of employees and applicants. another protects victims of sexual assault and violence from having their identities disclosed online and a third bill makes sure data of students remain private. also the final bill protects children expect the schuylkill in this area to be busy much of the weekend. i think a lot of people will be headed to the zoo and during the day saturday and sunday both the mlk and kelly drives will be closed so people are going to be heading for 76 as an alternate. if you're heading for 95 northbound this afternoon, it's extra heavy because of a broken down vehicle by the betsy ross bridge taking out a lane. still have that crash in wyncote along 309 southbound at easton road by acadia but now it's off to the side so both lanes reopened. watching a motorcycle accident in lower frederick along goshen road and we still have the crash in buena along brewster road at route 40 harding highway. expect those half hour delays continuing on njt's river line this afternoon. that's because of signal hope and new beginnings for trenton's homeless population is celebrating a major milestone tonight. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the story. >> reporter: for a hundred years now this old cracker factory on carol street has been home to the trenton rescue mission a place where the down and out can go for food clothing and a bed to sleep in at night. >> several people come in just shattered everything they own in a plastic bag. when they come to the rescue mission we tell them you're now part of something bigger than yourself so you should respect yourself and those you're with. >> reporter: jean morris is one of the mission's success stories. last summer he was an addict homeless and dealing with mental problems. he's now a housekeeping supervisor got his ged and is taking a class at penn. >> rescue mission helped me in areas that i couldn't help myself in and it gave me hope. ever since then i haven't looked back. >> reporter: to celebrate the mission organized a special fundraising event including this mini golf corset up on the third floor. it invited eric le grand the former rutgers football player paralyzed in 2010 to speak about overcoming adversity. >> in the beginning upreach stuck to the head unable to turn my head right to left. things are coming back. >> reporter: last year the mission provided 57,000 bed nights and as the people here celebrate a century of helping to rebuild lives, they know their work is far from over. >> although the clientele has changed over the years the need is still there. the mission offers counseling skills training educational programs and motivation. >> i gave up and kind of stopped worrying about life and i have a young daughter that i would like to get back to. >> i've recovered and i owe these people. as long as i'm able to walk, i'll be coming here. >> reporter: the theme of the celebration is rebuilding lives and making miracles happen and for a century that's just what the rescue mission property on a spot that did serve as part of the underground railroad. back in the 1800s the property belonged to a quaker farmer who helped slaves fleeing from maryland. student megan marcio researched the history of the farm. she petitioned the school board to place benches on the site to remember that farmer and the families he helped. >> the benches are going to represent the key people in the story sam hawkins and his family and the other bench will represent john hunn and his farm and they also represent the many other people that were unaccounted for. >> john hunn ended up for your saturday ahead of this cold front we get winds out of the south. it is going to be a warm day. 78 degrees, the warmest day so far this year, feeling like summer. that cold front will move through early in the evening. it comes through dry. and then behind that we get a wind shift out of the northwest for sunday. so that will cool things off to more seasonable levels. 64 degrees. this bubble of high pressure protects us on sunday from low pressure moving out of the southwest but that system will bring us a real soaking rain on monday. we've had two beautiful mondays in a row. this coming monday will not be beautiful. it will be wet, it will be windy looking at about an inch to two and a half inches of rain on monday a really good soaking and then things dry out by tuesday. but your day planner for your saturday man this looks nice. wall to wall sunshine at 8 o'clock 60 degrees. by 11 o'clock, already 68. 2 o'clock 74. and by 5 o'clock 78 degrees. so, enjoy an early taste of summer. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, one of the nicest weekends so far this year. lots of sunshine tomorrow. a warm high of 78 degrees. if that's a little too warm too soon for you, you have sunday back to spring on sunday, 64 degrees. sun with some high clouds and late sunday night rain moves in and we're looking at periods of rain on monday, windy conditions and cool, 61 degrees. but tuesday the sunshine is back. 71 degrees on wednesday lots of sunshine, 64. thursday we begin the process of cooling things down. some showers with a high of 60 degrees and then friday need a case of attempt murder and the weapon was a car. police say a woman was run down on the sidewalk in front of her home in the 4400 block of north 17th street at 2:30 this afternoon. police say her attacker was laying in wait down the block. the victim was critically injured. the dry, another woman sped from the scene. then as the victim's mother rushed to her daughter's aid, food left cooking inside on the stove set the house on fire. we have just obtained video surveillance video of the vehicle, a white dodge durango and you can see obvious front end damage. the suspect is still at large but police say they know whom they're looking for. now according to family members, the victim, dee dee spencer has just emerged from surgery where doctors were forced to amputate one of her legs. we'll have more on the air and online as new information comes into "action news." all right, here is the latest on the car that struck and killed a two-year-old boy. police received the 2006 infiniti early this morning and they say the physical evidence proves it is the vehicle that struck the child and his mother at lehigh and mascher on monday.
