The crash happened in queens can last night. While you were sleeping, Police Stopped a bus that may be involved. Tracie strahan has been following the leads this morning. Reporter darlene, let start with an update on that bus. We learned it was stopped near a rest stop on i95 heading northbound. Its since been cleared according to our affiliate in connecticut, but not before being checked out by Connecticut State Police and detectives from the nypd. Lets show you a photo now of at skyliner bus when it was detained just after midnight. It originated from flushing. Thats why they pulled it over. It says ck tours incorporated, which is in flushing. We know that bus left this area around 8 00 last night, but it was around 30 that Police Responded to a call of someone being struck here at the uiintersection of main street and kessina boulevard. Officers discovered a woman with severe body trauma lying in the street. She was later pronounced dead re a21the scene. Last night we spoke to one of the first witnesses that spotted her. I immediately ran by starbucks and got some large boxes that were at least three feet high so we can block the body because cars were literally body. I mean, the person was run over probably several times. Reporter were going to show was pulled over. It was in madison, connecticut, about 40 miles from the fox woods casino. Know there are any buss in this area. Weve seen some that leave flushingwi to head to connecticut to those casinos. As for the identity ki the victim, its not yet been released by police. Department of corrections says the guard was attacked about 4 30 p. M. Yesterday. The Department Says its working on rearresting the inmates who were involved. On long island, a man is accused of stealing more than 100 from a smithtown church. Suffolk Police Released this video of the suspect. Investigators say he sat in a pew at the church for about an hour. He looks around, kneels down, but not to pray. He pries open a donation box. This is one of the places where commuters can get a shuttle bus the 7 trainshutdown begins at midnight tonight. It lasts through this monday, 4 30 in the morning. It is a substantial stretch of the 7 train that will be shut down for weekend track work and other repairs. As you can see, between Queensboro Plaza, where we are, and the 34th street hudson yards, that newly opened subway station ehere. Aside from track work, h the mta says the project will include installing a new signal system as well as reconstructing the tunnels. This comes just months after a rally by 7 train riders and a councilman who complained about 7 Train Service, crowded platforms. A commuter we just talked with says its frustrating having a major subway line shut down, even for a few days. Yes, all the time. Any time the train is not working its a problem for the commuters. People have to go places. They need the public transportation. Reporter but heres what the mta has said before. That it is trying to make the 7 line more reliable. Authorities say the pilot, James Brad Mcgee, was killed when the twoseater plane crashed in the waters off of breezy point wednesday night. News 4 investigates says the former Navy Commander had been a pilot for three years. Relatives say he was returning home to New Hampshire after a meeting in philadelphia. Were told he spoke to his wife just before he took off. He called his wife terry prior to departing. There was some discussion about whether or not its the right thing to do to fly home then because of the darkness. And brad had said that, you know, he wanted to get in front of the weather. Recovery crews have found most of the plane, including the wings and some parts of the fuselage. They say the driver of the bus that was pulled over just not long ago was told to bring that bus back to new york. Now, it has been cleared after being pulled over. Its unclear if its part of the investigation into what happened here. We do know that detectives from the nypd did travel to connecticut overnight. So i left the car right there, actually, you know. And i immediately ran over there, in the other lane, and i saw its a body. Reporter that bus was detained in madison, connecticut. Its really an incredible story. They lost their parents in a halloween tragedy. Don and Krystal Howard were killed in an awful car crash trooper Nathan Bradley went to their home to deliver the sad news. When he got there, he found four Young Children dressed in costumes. They said their parents went out to the buy halloween candy and face paint. Bradley notified their grandmother, but she lived in florida, and it would take her seven hours to drive there. Instead of telling the children what happened, he took them out to eat and to the movies. My goal was to preserve their halloween. Thats all i wanted to do. Secondary goal was to find the perfect way of telling them. Bradley told the children about their parents after the grandmother arrived the following day. Now to new developmes overnight in that horrific hitandrun that left a woman dead in queens. Police in connecticut have stopped a bus that may be connected to the case. Tracie strahan was the first to report about this potential break in the case. Tracie, what updates do you have from police, if any, at this hour . Reporter welt, theyre coming from Connecticut State Police, darlene. Theyre telling our sister station in connecticut that the bus that was detained after midnight is now en route back to new york. When it was pulled over on i95 northbound just after midnight, it was checked out by state police there as well as detectives from the nypd. This is video of what that bus looked like. It is a skyliner bus that actually left from flushing. Incorporated. That was around 8 30 last night that someone responded to a call of a person being struck here at main street. Its unclear if that bus is related to the incident. Officers from the 109th precinct discovered a woman with severe here. Scene. We spoke to a witness that was then i immediately ran by starbucks and got some large boxes that were at least three feet high so we can block the body because cars were literally trying to go over that poor body. I mean, the person was run over probably several times. Reporter were showing you a map now of where that bus was pulled over early this morning. It was in madison, connecticut. Thats about 40 miles from the foxwoods casino. There are several buss that start in flushing and head to casinos in that area. Over the phone, the nypd told me theyre not yet releasing the identity of the woman that was killed here. But as weve been saying, this comes just days after that fatal hitandrun of an mta bus in brooklyn. The driver there, however, is now facing charges. Back to you. All right. They say he sat in a pew at st. Patrick Roman Catholic church in smithtown. He looks around before kneeling, but not to pray. The man allegedly breaks into the donation box. If you have any information, you are asked to please contact police. Police also just releasing this Surveillance Video of a suspect in a string of Upper East Side breakins. They say he uses fire escapes to get into apartments. Were told he broke into two apartments on east 81st street monday morning. He got away with laptops, electronics, jewelry, and prescription drugs totaling several thousand dollars. A commuter alert now in queens. 7 Train Service will be shut down for weekend track work and other repairs between Queensboro Plaza and the brand new station at 34th street hudson yards. Were learning new information about the plane crash off the coast of queens as federal investigators work to figure out what brought that plane down. Authorities say pilot James Brad Mcgee was killed when the twoseater plane crashed in the waters off breezy point wednesday night. News 4 investigates has learned the former Navy Commander had been a pilot for three years. Relatives say mcgee was returning home to New Hampshire after a meeting in philadelphia. He called his wife terry there was some discussion about whether or not its the right thing to do to fly home then because of the darkness. And brad had said that, you know, he wanted to get in front of the weather. Recovery crews have found most of the plane, including the wings and some of the fuselage. Ntsb investigators are looking into the pilot, the plane, and the weather as possible factors in the crash. Well, right now it appears british tourists will remain stranded at that egyptian resort in the wake of the russian air disaster. Rescue flights were supposed to begin this morning from sharm elsheikh. But one airline says the Egyptian Government has canceled them. This is happening just as the u. S. Demands security be improved at international airports, and its because of increasing evidence that a bomb was brought on board and brought down that russian metro jet aircraft. There are new questions over the future of governor Chris Christies president ial campaign now that the republican has been bumped off the main stage in the next debate. This is in southern germany in ba vary ya. A passenger train slammed into a truck that was carrying a u. S. Military vehicle. The driver of the truck and the trains engineer were killed. The truck was not being driven by an american. Investigators say the illinois officer who committed suicide tried to put a hit on a village administrator. They say fox lake lieutenant Joseph Gliniewicz sent a text message asking a woman to contact a gang member to kill ann marin. Investigators say marin was awe ditding the towns financing. They believe gliniewicz had been stealing and laundering money from a Police Program for young people. And former postal worker scare in washington back in april. Thats when he flew his oneman gyrocopter around the capitol grounds. He will plead not brake light guilty to not having a pilots license. That is a felony. Were getting a look at a confrontation between Serena Williams and a man who tried to steal her cell phone. Williams says a man lurked by her table at a restaurant in San Francisco then grabbed her phone. Surveillance video shows serena running outside after the man. She says on facebook when she confronted him, she asked him if he took the phone maybe by accident. The man says he did. He handed the phone back over. We were the first to tell you this morning about a bus thats been identified in the investigation. Now just a few moments ago, we received new details from that bus company. Tracie strahan is in flushing. She has this new information. Reporter michael, we have learned that that bus is, in fact, back in new york at thi hour. The driver, according to the man that answered the phone for skyliner tours, was questioned by police in connecticut, but he was not detained. He says theyre fully cooperating with the police investigation. We have video from when that bus was pulled over after midnight on i95 heading northbound. That skyliner bus says ck tours incorporated, and they are in flushing. We go know they left around 8 00 last night for this area, according to connecticut state that Police Responded to a call of someone being struck here at the intersection of main street and kessina boulevard. Officers from the 109th precinct discovered a woman with trauma that they describe as severe lying in the street. She was pronounced dead here at the scene. We spoke to a woman who actually got out of her car after spotting that woman, and she says it looked like she had been there for several minutes. So i left the car right there, actually, you know. I immediately ran over there, on the other lane. I see that its a body. I said, its a body, isnt it . He said, yes, its a body. Reporter heres a map now of where that bus was pulled over. Its in madison, connecticut. Thats about 40 miles from the foxwoods casino. We do know the skyliner bus from ck tours makes several trips to that casino every day. Right now a correction officer is recovering in the hospital after being jumped by two inmates at Rikers Island. The department of corrections says the guard was attacked around 4 30 p. M. Yesterday. Were told one inmate distracted him while the other put him in a chokehold and slashed him several times in the head and face. The Department Says its working on rearresting the inmates involved. Mourners will gather at the wake today for a 10yearold girl and her grandfather. They were killed when a driver slammed into a group of trickortreaters on halloween. Police say the car jumped a curb in the bronx, hitting nyanna aquil and 65yearold louis perez. The two will be laid to rest tomorrow. 24yearold Kristian Leka was also killed while pushing his sister out of the way. His funeral was on wednesday. But a lot of them are saying that perhaps because of all this weekend work, the 7 train will run better in the long run. Theres a big shutdown. It stretches for a huge line of the 7 train. You see it there. From midnight tonight through monday 4 30 a. M. , a stretch of the 7 train from Queensboro Plaza and 34th street hudson yards will not be running. It is because of weekend work. Theres track work that will be done. According to the mta, also a new signal system that will be installed as well as reconstructing and fortifying the tunnels. Earlier this year, 7 train riders and a councilman had a rally complaining about poor service, crowded platforms. A commuter we just talked with said its challenging not having 7 Train Service on the weekends. On the weekends, its a little hard to get around. You work all week and want to move around on the weekends, but youre not able to do that. So thats not a good look.
