"we think big about columbia. the things we can get done here. we work to build consensus. and then we lead." the mayor says the city has made a lot of progress fixing serious problems including fiscal issues during his tenure. during his tenure. the council. authorities say a man killed by a passenger train wednesday morning in richland county was trying to run away from it when he was hit. we first brought you this story as breaking news on sunrise. the coroner says 34- year-old william boulware was driving when his suv went off the road and got stuck on the tracks tracks near two notch road and rabon road. he was standing outside his vehicle and started to run away...when the amtrak hit him. he died on the scene. no passengers aboard the train were hurt. the richland county sheriff's department is investigating the crash. two local nonprofits have been hard at work this week rebuilding almost a dozen homes affected by october's flood. betty shelton's house is one of the houses being repaired during the three-day "rebuild together" event. it's a partnership between the st bernard project and homeworks, funded by large donations from ited way of the midlands and mungo homes. mold is one of the biggest issues volunteers say "when we first got here there was mold on every piece of furniture, on her tv, on all of her books, it's crawling up the floors, on the walls and on the ceiling. wanted to get her out of the house and start working on the house." with continuous funding the homeowners could be back in their homes in just a few months. there's still time for victims of the october floods to apply for fema assistance -- and the small business administration says there is plenty of money to go around. your name in the pile. charles: a lot of this involves documentation, how i iortant is it to have all this documentation, or can you just get your name in and provide the papers later. carl: absolutely! you can register first. you can do it over the phone 1-800- 621-fema. online disasterassistance.gov. the key is to get in by the paperwork can follow later. over the phone we'll ask specific ququtions. e owner of the housese- insurance papers and that. but the documentation can come later. the key is to register. charles: have people been responding - been getting their names in? "he was in the pulpit by 13, pastored by 18, public service by 23." clementa pickney was 41-years-old. "sharonda had a spirit that would reach the world. she was just that special and everybody who knew her knew it." 45-year-old sharonda coleman-singleton was a minister and high school track coach. she was a mother of three and an alumna of south carolina state university. ethel lance served the church as a custodian, and was a longtime member of emanuel. "she was always there. she was always there. she was a soldier." the 70-year-old was a mother and grandmother, and was retired after dedicating 34 years to the performing arts. "tywanza was always a bubbly and for anybody at anytime." the youngest victim, 26- year-old tywanza sanders was a recent graduate from allen university. witnesses say he died that night trying to protect his aunt susie jackson. jackson was 87-years-old and a longtime member of mother emanuel. cynthia hurd was a well known librarian who, after working for 31-years in charleston county, was looking forward to retirement. her legacy is one that is special to congressman jim clyburn. "this was her church. i''m an ame. my wife was librarian, and she was my daughter''s best friend." hurd was the sister of former north carolina state senator malcolm graham. "sometimes you don''t know when you're entertaining angels but we were." "she had a beautiful spirit." "a beautiful spirit." "a beautiful spirit." woman of god. reverend depayne- middleton doctor was a minister at emanuel ame. the 49-year-old was a former admissions coordinator at southern wesleyan university''s charleston learning center... and... the mother of four daughters. "she was a sweet, loving woman." myra thompson, was a teacher in the charleston county school district. the 59-year-old had a husband and two children. she received her license to preach the same day of the massacre and was leading the bible study that night. cosby is now out on bond after being arrested on sexual assault charges in pennsylvania. the comedian has been accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women. this case involves a former temple university employee, who cosby invited to his home near philadelphia in 2004. the district attorney says cosby urged the woman to take pills he gave her and to drink wine, rendering her unable to move or respond to his advances. the "affluenza" teenager is still in custody in mexico, but his mother has now returned back to the u-s. 18-year-old ethan couch was moved to a larger facility in mexico because of flooding or damage from the most recent rainfall. officials say crews will be out repairing those roads as soon as the weather settles. meanwhile, they say drivers should continue to use caution while traveling. columbia officials are also blaming the rain for sewage overflows affecting several neighborhoods. one happened near the glenridge and lost creek drive neighborhoods at thistle court, which is off broad river road. another was in the 5000 block of brickyard road and a third was in the 1400 block of peeples street--near columbia mayor steve benjamin is promising cooperation to move the city two newly elected city council members, who have disagreed with benjamin and who benjamin did not support, were sworn in earlier this week. thths could change things on the council where the mayor has managed to move big projects like the new bull street baseball stadium by narrow margins. benjamin says the city's business will continue. "we think big about columbia. thth things we can get done here. we work to build consensus. and then we lead." the mayor says the city has made a lot of progress fixing serious problems including fiscal issues during his tenure. he says it required unity from the council. authorities say a man killed by a passenger train wednesday morning in richland county was trying to run away from it when he was hit. we first brought you this story as breaking news on sunrise. the coroner says 34- year-old william boulware was driving when his suv went off the road and got stuck on the tracks tracks near two notch road and rabon road. he was standing outside his run away...when the amtrak hit him. he died on the scene. no passengers aboard the train were hurt. the richland county sheriff's department is investigating the crash. two local nonprofits have been hard at work this week rebuilding almost a dozen homes affected by october's flood. betty shelton's house is one of the houses being repaired during the three-day "rebuild together" event. it's a partnership between the st bernard project and homeworks, funded by large donations from united way of the midlands and mungo homes. mold is one of the biggest issues volunteers say they're tackling in these homes.
