police aren't sure what to make of this but with two separate families reporting it they're taking it very seriously. so far they've been able to establish that both families trick-or-treated in this same area near main street in downtown hopkinston. the mother we poke with spent on says her family only visited about 20 homes. >> came upon this, this disc wrapped in this white paper. no writing on one side then on the opposite side it had keep out of reach of children. >> reporter: inside the white wrapper wasn't a trick-or-treat it was poison. this hopkinton mom who asked us not to show her face found it while going through the candy her 6-year-old son collected trick-or-treating near his home. >> i immediately said this needs to go to the police station and i wrote down the addresses where they went trick-or-treating and brought it right to the station. >> reporter: a mother of a 14-year-old boy who trick-or-treated on some of the same streets found the exact same thing in her son's halloween haul. >> when you found out that it wasn't just you. >> it was scary. it was very scary. according to police the bluish disc inside the wrapper is a highly toxic toilet bowl cleaner made with harsh chemicals you're not supposed to touch let alone eat? i would hope that it wasn't intentional no matter what town it happened in i would hope it wasn't intentional. >> you hear about it but it's never close to home. the mother says she has no idea who may have given her son the poison disc. she's just glad she found it before he did. >> i was shocked. you never think it's going to happen to you when it does it's scary. but that's what the police are for so you can bring it to their attention and hope doesn't happen again. pooz the mother has twin 6-year-olds and only one had this toxic disc in his halloween candy. police always advise parents to check their kids candy. this is reported to have been found in a bag of halloween candy as well. police say the can dists picked up in the elm wood village area they urge parents to careful check their children's candy to report anything suspicious to officers immediately. >> new tonight a local correction officer taken to jail he's accused of pulling a teenager out of the car and going on the attack. fox 25's christine mccarthy is live in norton where she just spoke with that officer tonight christine? >> reporter: we sure. did we spoke with him just through his front door. he says simply that he was attacked that he is the victim and his roommate came out and spoke to us also defending him? >> i just heard some yelling and screaming going on. >> reporter: residents on norton's juniper beach heard the commotion around 7:00 sunday night. >> it is a little surprising. >> reporter: police say it was a scuffle between a group of teenagers and this man, 43-year-old jeffrey parillo a suffolk county correction officer. he's accused of drunkenly confronting the loud teens who were parked near his house by the lake. he allegedly claims he was a cop when they asked to see his badge pulled one teen him. >> and i i've had nothing kids. >> reporter: he wouldn't speak to us on camera but his roommate joseph tells us he did nothing wrong. >> they pinned him to the arrived and arrested him? >> he pleadedding in. he sees he doesn't need to be attacked especially a veteran who gave five, six, seven years of his life. we are told he's on paid administrative leave at this time coming up at what police say he had on him that could have made this scuffle even more dangerous. >> it's a mild start and apparently it's going spray painted on several buildings at hitchcock field. the trailer parked in the congregational church parking lot was also vandalized. surveillance cameras captured three men getting out of a car around the time it happened. a bank robber in stoneham possibly connected to robberies in several other towns. the citizens bank was robbed late last month. the suspect was described as a tall man in his 20s or 30s with tan skin wearing a it in cap and big begun glasses. stoneham police say they're working with chelmsford and reading offers to see if the suspect is the same. cambridge police want to track down this guy saying they wanted to rob the bank give game bridge police a call. >> an everett high school student is in fair condition after being stabbed. it happened early yesterday morning at broad way and chestnut street. 16-year-old was apparently walking home from the halloween party when his coach says he heard someone scream. >> a warning still ongoing for visitors to at 10:00 the f.b.i. says it is assisting new hampshire investigators looking into the shooting death of denise robert of bedford. robert was out a walk on ray street in august when she was killed. there have been no real leads in this investigation. the reward for information on the case has grown to $42,000. police in worcester are searching for four robbery suspects after a store clerk say she was threatened with a knife. all wearing masks least one had a knife. the men ransacked the stores stealing money and cigarettes before taking off towards grafton street. the clerk was not injured. 28 cats seized from a home in worcester. those pets apparently living in filth and were found in shock. tonight our blair miller tells us how an eviction led to that discovery. >> reporter: they're the faces of cats young and old, seized from this home on everguard street in worcester. 28 of them found dirty soaked in you are scbrin feces but now here -- in urine and feces but now here news. puppies went missing on saturday. police say an anonymous tip led them a home in plainville where the puppies were found. at least one person is facing charges. the kennel's owner says he involving a 1962 mercedes benz. the crash happened last night on mass ave. portsmouth police are looking for a gray or silver ford f-250 was involved with a hit-and-run on heritage avenue. the crash happened saturday night just before 7:00 p.m. and detectives say the truck may have front headline damage. if you're driving to new hampshire this week you could run into some traffic backups some lanes will be closed from the long bridge between portsmouth and kettering, maine the closures will be happening from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. inspectors are examining the bridge if they don't finish 41-year-old grandmother shot dead in her lawrence apartment while she slept. the fatal bullet was fired from the upstairs apartment. it went down through the ceiling and struck her in her bed. >> i can't believe that my mom is gone. i'm going to miss my mom she was the only one i had left as a parent. >> reporter: two of the three men in that upstairs apartment were undocumented immigrants who had jose lara a maven charged with killing rivera was caught crossing the border in august, 2013, and was ordered deported but he defied that order. >> clearly something is wrong in our immigration enforcement system to allow this to happen. >> reporter: jessica vaughan of the center for immigration studies tells us this revolving door of deportees charged with crimes is happening at an alarming rate. >> 60% of the people who committed aggravated felonies that ice was deporting were deported once before. 2,000 people were deported from 2011 to 2013 in boston. about 20% of them, 400 were deported before and came back. of those 400, 22% were violent criminals. their crimes include murder, rape, sex assaults, kidnapping and drug crimes. jessica vaughan believes as eye-opening as those report says the number of head injuries is rising at an alarming rate. 14,000 sports-related head injuries were reportedded in the 2014 school year. that's up 25% in fwirn across the country. fewer injury is also reportedly affecting the number of teens playing high school sports in boston public schools football enroll many has seen a drop in the 2009, ten school year. in that number dropped to that program has two 32-year-old alleged drug dealers from lynn. both men taken down because the mother of an addict who overdosed last month called gloucester police to arrange an undercover buy and made a bust. the mom says these two men sold her son the heroin that killed him. >> we were able to have an undercover sting operation they drove to gloucester and delivered heroin. >> reporter: police chief leonard tells me he hopes this sends a strong message to other dealers. >> you have a supplier you like someone who profits off the misery of other people that person needs to go to jail. >> reporter: gloucester's angels program has only been in effect for five months already 281 addicts have walked to the front doors of the police station asking for help. they haven't been arrested instead they have been sent into treatment. gloucester's police chief tells me he hopes that's a sign that what he's doing here in this town is working. in gloucester, bob ward, fox 25 news. boston homeowners looking to upgrade or change their homes will soon have a way to file and check the stat yous of their permits on-line. they can apply for the permits on-line so they permitting office.
