of those suicide bombers were deported at the syrian border last year and made his way through europe to belgium. with one dangerous terror suspect still on the run, police are chasing every lead more than 36 hours after those deadly attacks. turkey detained one of the brussels bombers on the syrian border last year, but then deported him according to the turkish president, he slipped through europe making his way to belgium. so far the belgium prosecutor identified two of the suicide bombers, and ibrahim la crowy -- laachraoui. >> he said i don't know what to do. i am on the run, people are looking for me everywhere and if i give myself up i will end up in a cell. >> reporter: the brothers had criminal records but nothing related to terrorism. authorities say their focus now who authorities say left behind the most powerful bag of explosives at the airport, which, fortunately, only detonated after the bomb squad arrived. as for the victims, tributes and prayers continue across the country and around the world. president obama weighing in from argentina. >> you do not have power over us. we are strong. our values are right. you offer nothing except death. >> reporter: defense secretary ash carter says america will destroy isis. this as secretary of state secretary of state kerry plans to pay his respects on friday. >> meanwhile two people with ties to new york that are still missing following the attacks. siblings sasha and alexander were in the brussels airport yesterday at the time of the sasha graduated from marry merry mont manhattan college. >> we know there are still victims in the hospitals who have been unidentified. 130 or 40 victims and maybe a dozen hospitals are involved and of course a lot of international passengers, and apparently we are going to have a tough time matching up people with identities and families so we are not giving up hope. >> sasha interned at seraz events in manhattan. she is a bright hard working young woman with great energy and a joy to have around, she has a great career and life ahead of her. while they spent most of their time in new york, their parents live in the netherlands, again, they are still missing this afternoon. david. while some families are searching for loved ones, there have been some happy reunions following the attacks. one of them a wyckoff, new jersey native who got to hug her parents again after eyewitness news reporter kemberly richardson was there for the reunion. she is live in newark with the details. kimberly. >> reporter: well, dave, ashley producingman arrived here -- bruggman arrived here without any luggage , her checked bag inside the airport at brussels. after the bombings she was able to catch a car to paris and then a flight here to newark, she touched down just a few hours ago but she truly believes she may not have made it out alive had she not done one small thing that at the time seemed really trivial. >> i am very, very glad to be home. i can think of no place i would rather be right now than back at home to be with my family right now. >> reporter: a tremendous rush of emotion as ashley bruggeman runs straight into her family's arms. the 25-year-old is exhausted, still wearing the same clothes she had on when she headed to this airport in brussels yesterday morning. >> still a shock. i still can't believe it was real. headed to brussels for business but returning home had planned to spend a few days in copenhagen. yesterday morning she aarrived at the airport in brussels -- arrived at the airport in brussels, checked her bags through security and not a problem and then shortly after pure chaos. >> all of a sudden people start running around the corner with these looks of pure panic and fear on their faces and it started as a few people and it was more and more and more people. >> reporter: ashley had no idea what was happening, didn't know terrorists had set off bombs. >> it was a lot of chaos at the airport. no one really knowing what was going on, what was going to happen next. >> reporter: at first, she thought gunmen had stormed the building, she and many others were removed from the terminal to the tarmac and eventually a hangar. ashley immediately reached out to her family, sent this text message to her mother telling her she was okay. >> it's just been -- i think i'm still numb because it shows you how precious life is, you one minute and then you realize you don't want to sweat the small stuff. this is what really matters. >> reporter: ashley tells me one little things still sticks out in her mind, on that infamous morning she was worried about traffic in brussels so she called her car service and had it pick her up 30 minutes earlier. she believes that made all the difference. if she hadn't she doesn't think she would be here right now. >> i bless every angel that i have that's watching over me and whatever stroke of luck got me to that airport early enough that i was through security at the time, i just thank god that i am safe. >> reporter: now, coming up at 6:00, you will hear more from her family. you will also see the text message ashley's father sent her before she went to brussels, also her powerful in your face message, what this young lady has to say to the terrorists. for now we are live in newark, kemberly richardson, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> happy she is home and safe and with her family. this afternoon we learned that the brussels airport will remain closed until at least saturday. meanwhile, the u.s. state department has officially issued a travel warning for europe. the agency says it does not intend to discourage american tourists but does want them to know the risks. travelers are being told to be vigilant in public places including on mass transit, tourists are also being asked to avoid crowded spaces and always be aware of their surroundings. security in and around new york city remains high in the wake of the deadly attacks. >> we are constantly seeking to change our security procedures to keep contemporary with the threat so that we will have a team going to paris very shortly led by commissioner miller and while there i'm assuming they will also have the opportunity to interact with belgians on the events they just experienced. >> commissioner bratton discussing the nypd's k-9 program. he says the k-9 day after a fire tore through a church in new jersey, church leaders are getting a better look at the damage. this just days before easter. today we are taking you inside that historic building. eyewitness news reporter michelle charlesworth is in inningwood with more -- englewood with more. >> reporter: nobody was hurt but boy are people not just the congregation here talking about life. this is where baptisms happen, where weddings happen, churches all around this area. now as people stop by and make a point to look at the daniel, they are so grateful -- damage, they are so grateful and they are remembering. this is all that is left of the main chapel here at first presbyterian church in englewood. you see the walls still standing and then above the almost 150 years, all gone. the organ refurbished five years ago ruined and the pughs all lost before easter. >> so many members of the community belong to this church where englewood started. >> reporter: this mother and daughter have a personal history with this church that dates back to preschool. >> it's just very weird to see it like this. i have so many good memories there from being 4 and 5 years old. >> it's a building and so ultimately the church is about people and we get a chance to experience that more than churches normally do. >> reporter: the pastor says this season's message of renewal and rebirth really hits home this year, leaves him more enlightened and grateful. >> easter is about resurrection and that's going to have a deeper meaning for us than it >> reporter: last night as the fire burned for hours and the church signs out front announced the times for good friday and easter services, he says he watched in disbelief. >> we have been really grateful for the outpouring of support so we have had offers from churches, synagogues, civic space. >> reporter: that is just so beautiful. coming back to a live picture, you can see what is left of the roofline of the first presbyterian church here in englewood, new jersey, not hard to see that this was handcrafted in 1870, definitely a giant part of this community. what caused this fire is still under investigation tonight. it is the global network of terrorism. bernie sanders also in california talked about isis he said the u.s. will crush the terror group. well, few new york yankee players have been as polarizing a figure as (female announcer) shady brook farms . no growth-promoting antibiotics, just honest, simple turkey. everything nature's promise is so wholesome... and it doesn't take the whole paycheck. stop & shop's exclusive nature's promise. my stop & shop. breaking news, live pictures from newscopter 7. a ambulance at 58th street and eighth avenue, happening in the sunset park section. the ambulance is still on scene right now. the pedestrian, we understand, will be taken to lutheran medical center. that person, we understand, is in serious condition but you can see the investigators are still on the scene. this happened with an ambulance driver. the ambulance driver remained on the scene right there after striking that pedestrian but you can see part of that area is taped off and there are investigators there. we are going to continue to monday store the story -- monitor the story and have much more as soon as we get more information. a chief of police in wyckoff stepped aside pending an investigation into racial profiling. chief benjamin fox seen here last december came under fire after an e-mail memo from 2014 revealed he promoted the controversial practice in new jersey specifically in that memo he reportedly told his officers it was okay to check out, and i quote, suspicious black people in white neighborhoods. anonymously last week and calling for a full investigation. the husband of reality star teresa giudice has started serving his prison sentence. joe jew dees was spotted -- giudice was spotted leaving his home in morris county this morning. he reported to the fort dix federal prison in south jersey at noon today. the 41 month sentence from giudice comes after his wife finished her own time behind bars in september. the two were convicted of bankruptcy fraud but a judge allowed them to serve separately in order to care for their four daughters. rescue teams in new jersey pulled a kayaker to safety after he got in trouble in the hackensack river. the man got stuck in mud after the tide went out and it started to get dangerous. the marine units from the teaneck and hackensack fire departments worked together to save this man. they ended up getting a board out to him and pulled him to the rescue boat. >> it was pretty scary. thank god it wasn't my husband because he always goes out >> pretty thick. he was pretty -- it was like a vacuum. he was stuck in there pretty good so hard to pull him out but we figured out a good way to get him out. >> sure did. back on solid ground. they say he was walking and he appears to be fine and that's a popular river, you know, for kayakers to get out there. but when you get stuck in mud, that's a whole new game. >> that's got to be scary. >> he was caught up to his waist there. >> your first thought isn't about tide levels when you're on a river but there's been such a big buildup of silt in the lower hackensack that the depth is low and that's why that happened. >> i guess so. >> how does it feel out there right now, lee? you hear from him next. and a disturbing new look now new york's number 1 news, channel 7 eyewitness news. there's some breaking information in the belgium terror attacks. prosecutors now say that the suspects bomb maker in the paris attacks was one of two suicide bombers who targeted the brussels airport. this is a picture of the three as much as in the airport. the suspected bomb maker is likely the man all the way to the left. this is a new sign that both attacks, the one in belgium and the one in paris, were linked to the same isis terror cell. coming up at 5:00, eyewitness news reporter a.j. ross will have a live report from bulls -- brussels with all of the breaking details. police searching for suspects in a pair of attacks in two different boroughs in new york city. the first attack happened at 7:30 last night on west 252nd street and henry hudson parkway, this is in the riverdale section of the broncos. police say a 29-year-old man was slashed on the cheek. 15 minutes later a 15-year-old was stabbed in the right back of him. in that case three suspects ran away. a potential break in the deadly shooting of an aide to new york governor andrew cuomo. the nypd have released a photo of several people they want to question about the shooting. it happened in september hours before the west indian day parade. 43-year-old carey gabay was shot as several gunmen were firing at each other. there's still no arrests in the case. the man arrested for legally taking photos up a woman's dress at a suffolk county mall now on the news, 24- year-old scott coleman was arraigned today for illegal surveillance. police say a woman shopping at macy's in lake grove yesterday became suspicious when coleman was standing behind her. she told security officers. suffolk county police were called in. they say coleman took photos of the woman -- up the dress and fear more victims could be out there. to cuba, president obama is now in argentina working on rebuilding relations there. mr. obama stood side by side with the president of argentina during a news conference in buenos aries today, comes amid attempts by argentina's government to repair relations with the u.s. after years of antagonism by previous add administrations -- administrations, he addressed the terror attacks in brussels and defeating isis. >> i've got a lot of things on my plate but my top the death of a brother who was killed when he was hit by an nypd van. >> yeah, for the first time we are seeing video of the accident. eyewitness news reporter rob nelson has the details. rob. >> reporter: good afternoon, liz. three years ago at this intersection behind me a 61- year-old man was fatally struck by an nypd police van. well, three years later what this has turned into is the city saying it did nothing wrong and the family saying they simply will continue to fight for some justice. it's this video that shows the moment 61-year-old felix coss was simply crossing the street near broadway and hooper street in williamsburg back in july 2013 when he was struck and killed by a police officer driving this nypd van. of way and was well within the crosswalk. felix's still grieving brother spoke to eyewitness news today from cleveland. >> my poor brother still had good years in front of him and, you know, that's gone. that's gone. >> reporter: what's made matters worse is that nearly three years after the deadly accident the family is still wrapped in a legal battle with the city which has cleared the van's driver of any wrongdoing. in fact, according to legal papers, the city puts the blame on the victim, saying, quote, plaintiff failed to use all required proper appropriate and reasonable safety devices and/or equipment and failed to take all proper, appropriate and reasonable steps to assure his or her or their safety, end quote. >> according to the city of new york, if you're crossing in a crosswalk with a walk light in your favor, that you are assuming the risk of being hit by a car and if you are hit by a car, you are at fault for >> it's almost like, you know, okay, there's a dead dog in the street. let's push him over, let's let the trash people pick him up and throw him in the dump and let's move on. >> reporter: the family's lawyer says there are eyewitness accounts that the officer was using her cell phone at the time of the accident. levine says the city's lack of action flies in the face of mayor de blasio's vision zero initiative to improve pedestrian safety. >> the police got a free pass here when they killed the man, not even so much as a violation was issued, yet mayor de blasio is on tv talking about vision zero every day, how he's an advocate for pedestrian safety. >> reporter: meantime, ivan coss continues to mourn the loss of his brother, who was a beloved spanish teacher. >> he was a good citizen. he was a good man and they are treating us like dirt. >> reporter: now, the city, meantime, though, is arguing there was some piece of equipment in that van that blocked the officer's view and that's what caused her not to they also say she was not actively using a cell phone at the time. either way, the case is not over, it skies right now and westerly wind at seven. i don't see any more snow threats through the remainder of march. early april can still get cold the suit of many el nio winters are lighter snowfall although 1998 a little bit above average for march. look back and four out of the last six march snowfalls have been below norm. last year incredible with over 18 1/2 inches of snow and this year couldn't break an inch in march. numbers are comfortable. catskills cooler and on the east end. right now our temperatures are generally in the upper 60s and lower 70s but if you look here albany at 44, the winds shift to northeast. back door cool front trying to settle down the hudson valley right now. the evening looks great. the cooler air isn't happening until later tonight. when that does happen our numbers will fall. start out tomorrow morning and still mild for a march morning but with the easterly wind all day long and limited sun, low clouds may come in and be tough to break and may brighten up at times. i think we are only going to reach the middle 50s in new york city, even lower north and east of new york city and maybe we can get into the 60s to around even 70 across interior so a huge range tomorrow. here's what it looks like on the futurecast. not too bad early on tomorrow morning. might be sun. overall the low clouds are spreading in from the northeast. they really come in and only be a place like a somerville or fleming ton, cranberry, these are the areas here over central and southern new jersey that can go 65 to 70. otherwise most of us stuck in the 50s, even some upper 40s on the east end in connecticut because of the cooler wind. we will remain dry but it will be cloudy and noticeably cooler. air quality is going to be moderate tomorrow. the uv index goes down to a moderate four, could even be less. pollen count not so high. look at friday and the numbers coming back. the only concern on friday is we are confident that the day starts damp but there is a trend here where the showers are really sluggish to move offshore. at the very least i think clouds will linger into the early afternoon. i'm hoping for some late day brightening and drying so the best part of the day would be late but have your umbrella at least for the first part of the day. the weekend looking awesome. high up and easter sunday looks dry just clouds mixing in and temperatures will be in the upper 50s, i think rain is waiting until early next week. that could be a decent rainstorm on monday, fall by windy conditions on tuesday. that's the way it's shaping
