there was insufficient evidence to file charges in the case. muhammad ali's hometown of louisville is getting ready to honor him. will be a funeral possession. this afternoon there will be a public memorial service. joel waldman is in louisville this morning joining us live with more on what is going on and how people are remembering him. >> reporter: good morning. it is a day to say goodbye to the greatest. thousands are preparing for muhammad ali's funeral but also getting ready to celebrate the chance life. mohammed ali's hometown is the site of a remembrance in prayer as people arrive from all over the world to say goodbye to their hero. >> i flew to chicago and drove from chicago to hear. it took five days. >> everyone is coming together from all walks of life. >> reporter: tens of thousands are expected to line the streets for a funeral procession through the city. ali's body will travel along the boulevard named for him and passed his childhood home. a private funeral service in burial will be held at cave hill cemetery followed by an interfaith memorial service where 15,000 people are expected to attend. included in the celebration, eulogies from former president, bill clinton and comedian and actor, billy crystal. >> he will always be remembered and he will never be forgotten. >> he meant so much to me in life. he gave me that strength to carry on sometimes. >> reporter: on thursday, more than 14,000 paid tribute at an islamic funeral service at the city's freedom hall. >> everyone has skills. his were in the ring. he was that projected platform to fight for justice in the home and peace in the world. >> reporter: he certainly did that. he died at age 74 after battling parkinson's disease for 32 years. believe it or not, even in his diminished state, he made all the plans for his funeral service and celebration of life. >> such an impression he may. we will be dipping in on that all morning and day. a magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook eastern san diego county.'s quake hit around 1:00 this morning near the community of borrego springs. that is 90 miles northeast of san diego. no reports of damage or injuries although the quake was felt throughout that region. that includes places like palm desert, riverside, and la joya. weather is a little different today. not as much fog. we have high clouds in the south and the system sweeping in. the lows seem to be running a little warmer. there's not as much of a breeze. even with the southwind, that does help it sound -- feel different than with the westerly breeze. the system will sweep by but not too much. 50s and 60s on temperatures. santa rosa is little cooler at 51. berkeley, 52. a system to the north and higher clouds will push to the south. we will start off with sun. this pattern needs to sweep through and that will keep temperatures held in check throughout the day. look force 60s, 70s, and low 80s. a combination of sun and clouds. a little breezy but on the cool side. this morning, hayward police are searching for suspects in a shooting that happened dangerously close to a little league game. this happened late yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of the sorendale recreation center, near west tennyson avenue. police say one person was injured in the gunfire which involved people in two cars. the shooting stunned people who were watching a little league game nearby. >> i heard the bang, bang, back and forth. i came out here and saw two cars speeding way. >> two groups of people were involved. they both left the scene. we stopped a vehicle. inside the vehicle was a person suffering from a gunshot wound. >> at this point there is no word on the condition of the shooting victim. police say the shooting suspect sped away from the scene in a white four-door sedan. a palo alto man is facing hate crime charges among others in a parking dispute with the taxi driver. this happened two weeks ago you the palo alto transit center. david cerner was taking up two parking spaces when the victim, who police describe as an indian man in his 40s, asked him to move. the victim told police that david cerner got out of his car and shouted racial slurs. when the victim to out his phone to take a picture, police say david cerner punched the victim, stole his phone and threw it at him. witnesses say david cerner backed his car into the cab as he drove away and was arrested a short time later. fairfield police say i high risk sex offender has moved into that sent city. george edward shockley was convicted in 1990 of annoying or molesting children under the age of 18. in 1993 he was convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14. he is living on clay bank road. he is required to register as a sex offender every year or whenever he changes his residence. police say he they will be alerting the public when he moves again. palo alto police are looking for someone who robbed four businesses in two weeks. person stole money from the cash register of two gas stations, a dry cleaner and the baskin-robbins. police released an image taken from a camera of the getaway vehicle. it is a white dodge caravan.  and several burglaries he broke into the business by shattering a window with a rock. east bay authorities wrapped up in operation aimed at getting drugs off the streets. we followed members of the alameda county narcotics task force as they suit up yesterday and hit at least three homes. authorities arrested several people linked to a mexican drug cartel, operating here in the bay area. officers tracked down one suspect who tried to elude capture. they arrested him and his wife on suspicion of a marijuana grow operation. authorities say the illegal pot trade can result in many innocent victims. >> it's an illicit drug trade. it will bring people that will probably at some point do home invasion robbery. these people are armed with semi automatic assault weapons. they will try to defend their illicit grow. bullets go through walls. was going to happen? who is at risk? every person on this block. all these hard-working people with children. >> of the past three days, the task force targeted at about a dozen homes, meet at least 17 arrests and confiscated thousands of dollars worth of marijuana. the san jose sharks live to play another day. they beat the pittsburg penguins , 4-2 in game 5 and they stay alive in the stanley cup finals. joe fonzi was at the game and has more on who played hero last night for the sharks. >> reporter: down 3-1 and in hostile territory, it would have been easy to write the sharks off last night. many people did. a huge crowd gathered outside the arena, probably more people than inside open to celebrate a stanley cup championship. instead the sharks the outlook is terrible and the only have a couple months. it turns out that they've been reading the wrong books or hearing the wrong things. >> if it is something that they feel they were really suffer and don't want their family to suffer with them, then they might be able to make that choice to take the medication. >> under the law, patients must be diagnosed as having six months or less to live and ask for the prescription on three separate occasions. the patient also needs to be able to take the medication on their own. a michigan man is accused of hitting a group of cyclists and killing five of them is being charged with second- degree murder. police say charles pickett junior plowed into nine bicyclists with his truck on tuesday night. the five people who died at the scene ranged in age from 40 through 74. he is also charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment. the four other cyclist hurt. he faces life in prison on each of those murder charges and up to five years on each of the reckless driving charges. a new federal report on the asiana plane crash said the faa needs to do a better job when it comes to overseeing airport fire departments. one of the victims was killed after being run over i a fire truck. the report follows an audit of 11 fire departments. the inspector general concluded that the agency needs to increase its regulations in three major areas, basic training, equipment, and maintenance. neither of the san francisco department nor sfo would comment on the report but experts say could lead to changes for airport fire departments across the country. a vigil was held last night in florida for the blue angels pilot who was killed in a crash near nashville tennessee. he died last thursday after his plane went down terminally ill patients to ask for medication to end their lives. supporters say people with terminal illnesses should have the option to diet without excessive suffering. the doctors filing the lawsuit say they have treated patients who thought they were close to death when they weren't. >> many of them come to us with a preconceived notion that they are going to be in terrible pain and that the outlook is terrible and the only have a couple months. it turns out that they've been reading the wrong books or hearing the wrong things. >> if it is something that they feel they were really suffer and don't want their family to suffer with them, then they might be able to make that choice to take the medication. >> under the law, patients must be diagnosed as having six months or less to live and ask for the prescription on three separate occasions. the patient also needs to be able to take the medication on their own. a michigan man is accused of hitting a group of cyclists and killing five of them is being charged with second- degree murder. police say charles pickett junior plowed into nine bicyclists with his truck on tuesday night. the five people who died at the scene ranged in age from 40 through 74. he is also charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment. the four other cyclist hurt. he faces life in prison on each of those murder charges and up to five years on each of the reckless driving charges. a new federal report on the asiana plane crash said the faa needs to do a better job when it comes to overseeing airport fire departments. one of the victims was killed after being run over i a fire truck. the report follows an audit of 11 fire departments. the inspector general concluded that the agency needs to increase its regulations in three major areas, basic training, equipment, and maintenance. neither of the san francisco department nor sfo would comment on the report but experts say could lead to changes for airport fire departments across the country. a vigil was held last night in florida for the blue angels pilot who was killed in a crash near nashville tennessee. he died last thursday after his plane went down
