temperatures will feel it today. the inland community its will be dropping out of the 80o's. 55 degrees in walnut creek, 55 oakland. one of the cooler spots in nevado. along the coast under clouds and patchy fog, half moon bay 54 outside your door. here is a look at the afternoon highs, upper 50s along pacifica. upper 60's for areas along the east bayshore line. in to the inland communities take a look at that. ten to 12 degrees of cooling in areas like livermore, morgan hill, antioch. you are only going to 76. today not the biggest drop. we will be cooler for tomorrow a look at the extended forecast coming up. >> we have developing news this morning in the case of the teen stowaw who flew to hawaii a spokesperson said that the 15- year-old boy is no longer there. she didn't say how or when he left or who he traveled with. the boy's father arrived in hawaii on monday and had planned to bring his son home to santa clara but yesterday the mercury news reported that hawaii social service agency officials wouldn't let him see his son though it was uncleary. the fbi said he was trying to get to somalia. >> a deadly fire in oakland is under investigation and started just before 3:00 a.m. on parker and bancroft. firefighters found the body of an elderly woman inside the home after that fire was put out. her name hasn't been released there were no smoke detectors. >> it appears that the call about an attempted kidnapping was just a misunderstanding but this morning police say that the incident should seven as a reminder for parents and children about stranger danger. now a security camera on a building captured this 9-year- old boy walking up to an suv on tuesday night. the boy's parents say they were in a nearby parking lot closing up their business when this happened. right after the suv drove away they called the police to report an attempted kidnapping. >> realizing that the -- that could have been the last video i had of him and i could have seen two legs out of a window instead of my son running back to me. >> reporter: after our story aired police say that the man called them and said he was looking for a stray cat that his girlfriend wanted to adopt. is he cooperating and it appears he is telling the truth. >> everything is on the line between the golden state warriors and the clippers. they will square off in game seven of the playoff series. it's the first game seven for the warriors since 1977. the winner moves on. the loser goes home. fans say they are confident that the team can pull off the upset against the clippers. >> this particular warrior team i like that -- the ambition with them. they are going. they are not giving up. >> warriors held one final practice in oakland yesterday before going to los angeles. the series in what's being called own of the largest prostitution busts in bay area history. hundreds of officers in six different counties had raids at 32 massage parlors, spas and homes. we went with deputies as they raided one site. they targeted 19 people that they believe are leaders in the alleged prostitution ring. 18 of those suspects are now in custody. a man who lives by one of the locations said he has been suspicious of the business. >> it looks like a low budget massage parlor but the owner drives a mercedes. >> reporter: the da said about 50 women are being interviewed to determine if they are victims of the ring. most of the women are asian and range from 18 to 40. investigators say they expect to make more arrests in this case. a pregnant woman is recovering after being hit by a car in the crosswalk of a san francisco street. it happened just after 2:30 yesterday afternoon at 18th and diamond street in the castro district. the woman was walking in the crosswalk. the 33-year-old stayed at the scene. police say the woman's injuries are not life threatening. oakland police are offering a reward up to $10,000 in connection with the deadly hit and run. 68-year-old william hope junior was struck and killed last saturday evening at 51st and telegraph. the driver stopped, looked at him and then drove away. police say that the driver may have been riding in a white audi or infinity suv. a vigil will be held to honor him today. neighbors and friends are being encouraged to bring flowers for an altar. people say he would meet his friends every morning a police commander will be at that vigil to share information or listen to concerns. it starts at nine this morning on 50th and telegraph. new, san francisco police are investigating a three car crash. it happened just before 2:30 this morning. allie live for us this morning in the city of san francisco and said that one of the drivers may have left the scene. >> reporter: witnesses say there were at least three people in the car that caused this crash. it happened around 2:30 this morning and witnesses say that some of the people involved may have fled the scene shortly after the collision happened. this is the intersection where it all happened. up until about 30 minutes ago it was completely blocked off to traffic by police as they did their investigation. what you can see that's left of this crash, some of the tire marks and then off to the left you can see what looks like motor oil or a car fluid that spilled out into the sidewalk. that's where a car hit the side of the building here all the cars have been towed. police at the scene were not giving us any information about exactly what happened. according to several witnesses who were here overnight and other neighbors who came back to the scene this morning they say that a black infinity with three to four people ran a red light at this intersection, hitting a toyota corolla, another car was struck as well. witnesses called the police. they say it appeared the driver of the toyota was in bad shape when taken to the hospital. neighbors out here say they are still shaken by this violent crash. >> generally pretty safe. i feel safe here. i walk here. i ride my bike here and feel okay. it's pretty disheartening accident to watch. >> very short. >> reporter: san francisco police were out here investigating the crash for about five hours. we don't have any update on the condition of the driver but hope to get more information later on this morning and any updates we will bring to you on the next hour on mornings on two. >> san jose police are investigating a crash that killed an 18-year-old and left a young driver in critical condition. it happened just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon at north first street. police say that the victim's car may have run a red light which caused it to crash into a second vehicle and slam into a traffic light pole. the family in the second vehicle was not hurt. the woman who died was a passenger in this first car. the driver of that car was taken to the hospital. >> he was trying to get out of the car. but, they realized he was in pretty bad shape. they -- they put him in the ambulance. >> my god. i mean gives me goosebumps. i said i hope nobody died but the way you look at the car, you are sure someone died. >> reporter: police are still trying to determine if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. the names of the victims haven't been released. a man is in yale this jail accused of stabbing to death a mother of three. he has been booked on suspicious of murder. officers say he killed a 28- year-old woman in inside her apartment on tuesday. they have not discussed a motive nor how the two are related. they do list each other as friends though on their facebook pages. she leaves three children, a baby and 9-year-old twins a neighbor said that the loss is horrible. >> she is not going to see her kids grow up. >> a neighbor said the husband is cloudy start to the day for the afternoon partly cloudy and a lot cooler for some. at least 350 people have been killed in a huge landslide in afghanistan and as many as 2,000 are missing. the warning people to leave flying drones at home when they visit. they say that people have been using them to shoot impossible to get shots of the park's scenery but they say that they are a risk to public safety and create unwanted noise. the national park service said regulations also ban the use of unmanned air craft. the faa is investigating the use of a drone by a news station in arkansas. this video was shot to capture the damage after last week's deadly tornado. the station's news director said he gave great perspective into the devastation. the faa said the use of drones for commercial purposes is prohibited. a couple in arkansas who lost everything in the tornado last weekend is now married. >> we wanted it to be meaningful and this was. >> they were already engaged but take a comparison from yesterday into today. santa rosa felt it yesterday. you had a ten degree drop in your area on friday. san francisco came way down, 66 yesterday, but livermore still a warm one. not as hot as thursday. but definitely the heat was on in your neighborhood as well. take a look at today. our inland communities are going to drop by a lot. more than ten degrees, 12 or 13 for livermore today. san jose, you will feel the drop as well. you will be 11 degrees cooler by afternoon. what has changed? we have this trough over the pacific and it's sliding a little closer to the coast as it does, bringing back the on shore breeze. thickening up the marine layer. that's what we have this morning in addition to high clouds pulling in from the south. take a look at this. above the low clouds outside the door this morning we have high clouds sweeping across the area. i think by the afternoon we will be left with just partly cloudy skies unless you are along the coast. partly to mostly cloudy expected for you today and cool. this system will continue to track toward austin as it does it's going to continue our cooldown. sunday is expected to be the coolest day of the weekend. it looks like monday is when temperatures will actually bottom out and be the coolest that we see. giving you a look here this morning with the low clouds in place by about ten or so. i think we are pulling away to partly cloudy skies and for the afternoon mostly sunny away from the coast and along the coastline we will continue with the low clouds, temperatures right now, in the 50s. in the overnight hours with the low clouds overhead. we manage to remain in the 50s. 56 san francisco, 55 in concord, 54 degrees in oakland. not a bad start. not a lot of sun out there right now. for the the hawaii department of human services said he is no longer in hawaii. but she didn't say how or when he left or who he traveled with. his father did arrive in hawaii on monday with plans to bring his son home to santa clara but yesterday the san jose mercury news reported that hawaii social service agency officials wouldn't let the teen's father see the boy. the fbi said he was trying to get 55-year-old orville fleming could be armed and is considered dangerous. on thursday morning the body of sarah douglas was found in their home. later that night fleming's truck was found in elk grove with blood inside. septemberors are asking anyone with information to call the sacramento county sheriff's department. >> tsa screeners at oakland international say they found 81 poundses of marijuana in three checked bags. that was made yesterday morning. police say that the 26-year-old anastasia murdoch checked the bags and was arrested. the marijuana was found in vacuum sealed air tight bags. >> even if it's vacuum sealed it's still going to smell. you wouldn't have to be a genius to figure it out. >> investigators say it was worth agent $100,000 in california but in mississippi it's worth much more. murdoch is now facing drug smuggling charges. for the first time a deadly virus from the middle east is in the united states and now other potential victims are being warned. the disease is called mers. it started about two years ago and at least 400 cases have been reported and more than 100 of those patients have died. there is novak seen or cure but doctors say it doesn't spread easy. the first case in the united states is a man in indiana who had just returned from saudi arabia where he is a health care worker. people who may have come in contact with him during the flight are jury reached a mixed verdict in a patent lawsuit between apple and samsung. both accuse the other of violating patterns for smart phones at the trial in san jose. yesterday the jury awarded them $120 million for two patent infringements a fraction of the two billion dollars apple had asked for. the jury also awarded samsung $158,000 saying apple violated one of samsung's patents. >> florida officials say a bait bike sting at the pleasant hill bart station led to two arrests. it was supplied by the san francisco police department in a joint operation with bart and the sheriff's office. one of the suspects suspects suspects arrested was riding a stolen bike. one of the suspects has been arrested multiple times. san francisco police are warning women to watch their purses after a number of purse snatchings in the past few weeks. the most recent report cost a woman more than $20,000 in valuables. it happened at a restaurant while she was watching a warriors game. her purse was during the summer could disappear for a while. walnut creek officials introduced a plan to shut down the clark swim center at heather farms park for seven moss out of the year. they say this will help close the city's budget deficit. the pool has been open year round for the past four years and swimmers say they plan to keep it that way. >> a lot of our swim team members will be at the city council meeting trying to show support for this pool and this program. >> walnut creek also runs an older, smaller pool but officials say that shutting down clark swim center would save the city more. a popular fit vanessa traction could be forced to move at the end of the month. for more than 30 years sea track has been renting paddle boats and kayaks a sheltered spot along the waterfront. the marina said the area has become just to crowded and it can't afford the cost. the owner said there is another solution. >> my vision is that we can work together with the marina, with the public, with the city, in order to make this work for everybody. >> the supporters are trying to get the city council involved to help keep that business open. they have also created a petition on change.org. >> a offered admission to more latino students than whites for the first time this year. san jose state university is reportedly expelled three of four accused in a racially charged bullying case. at first the four were suspended after information came up that they were harassed by their black roommates. they were charged with hate crimes. according to the american write news the three expelled are now banned for life from enrolling in any cal state university. the fourth will be required to have counseling and will remain on probation if he returns to school. >> a bay area motorcyclist is paying bay area business owners say a construction project that's widening sidewalks is squeezing their profits. the construction project in san francisco's castro district started in march. it aims to make the neighborhood more pedestrian friendly but with parking temporarily suspended on two blocks several business owners say that fewer tourists and residents coming in to the area to spend money. >> was doing dishes when she noticed a teenage boy walking through her backyard to get to a storage facility. she said that she thought he may be homeless and called police when he kept coming back. police say that when they investigated they found ammunition and bomb making materials in the storage locker. they say the teenage was planning on killing students at a nearby school and his parents. the the suspect in a deadly stabbing in connecticut is being charged as an adult. he stabbed another student to death in the stair well of their high school. there are reports it happened after she department of human services said the 15- year-old is no longer in the state. she did not say how or when he left, who he traveled with or where he went. the boy's father arrived on monday and had planned to bring his son home but yesterday the mercury yourself reported that social services wouldn't let him see his son though it was unclear why. the fbi said that the teen was trying to find his birth mother in somalia. >> san francisco police are investigating an early morning hit and run. it happened just before 2:30 at the intersection. allie is live with reaction from people who saw the aftermath. >> reporter: san francisco police confirmed they are investigating this as a hit and run because the driver believed to have caused this collision fled the scene on foot. the police are still looking for that driver. there is not much left of the crash scene this morning. this is ceasar chavez. the crash happened at 2:30. there were three cars involve. all of them have been towed . all that is left are skid marks on the pavement and to the left of us a stain on the sidewalk from some of the motor oil that spilled out of the car after the collision. this is what the crash scene looked like earlier this morning. according to several witnesses a black infinitw why three to four inside ran the red light and t boned a toyota corolla a third car, a green bmw was also struck. the than an hour at nine on 50th street and telegraph avenue. >> police are investigating a crash that killed an 18-year- old and left a young driver in critical condition. it happened just after four yesterday afternoon at north first street. police say that the victim's car may have run a red light which caused it to crash into a second vehicle and then hit a traffic light pole. the family in the second vehicle was not hurt. the woman who died was a passenger in the first car. the driver was transported to the hospital. police are still trying to determine if speed or alcohol was a factor in driver's side. really scary. >> meanwhile san francisco police are trying to find the driver of the car that hit that corolla a black infinity was the car that ran that red light. witnesses say there were three to four people in that black car and the driver ran away from the scene after the crash. police are trying to find the driver they are investigating this as a hit and run. another vehicle was also struck in this crash though it's not clear which car hit it. the driver was not seriously injured. witnesses say that driver did stay at the scene and talked to police about what had happened. police were on the scene investigating this crash for about five hours this morning and during that time they have the intersection closed. they reopened everything just before seven here. live in san francisco, ktvu channel 2news. >> a man is in jail accused of stabbing to death a mother of three in san jose. the 22-year-old has been booked on suspicious of murder. officers say that he killed a 28-year-old inside her apartment on tuesday. they haven't discussed a motive or how the two are related. they list each other as friends on facebook. she leaves behind three girls. . >> she won't see her kids grow up. she won't see their wedding or anything like that i'm glad they caught him though. >> the husband is planning to move saying there is no reason to stay there anymore. san jose state university has reportedly expelled three of four students accused in a racially charged bullying case. at first the four were suspended after information came up that they harassed their african american roommate. the students were charged with hate crimes and battery. the news reports that the three expelled students are now banned for life from enrolling in any cal state university. the fourth will be required to have counseling and remain on probation if he returns to school. >> a former concord police officer accused of stealing prescription drugs from seniors has pleaded no contest. the 38-year-old was sentenced yesterday to two and a half years in jail. prosecutors say that he used his badge to enter the homes of seniors. they say he stole a powerful prescription drug called norco. he apologized yesterday while in court. his attorney said he has addiction and ptsd. the search continues for a cal fire battalion chief who allegedly stabbed killed his 26- year-old fiance. investigators say that the 55- year-old orville fleming could be armed sarah douglas's body was found in their home. later that night his truck was found with blood inside. investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to call the sheriff. >> tsa screeners say they found 81 poundses of marijuana in three checked bags. the find was made yesterday morning. deputies say the 26-year-old checked the bags. she is from jackson mississippi and was acted as she waited for a flight to jackson. the marijuana was found in vacuum sealed bags. >> even if it's vacuum sealed it's going to by off a smell. you wouldn't have to be a genius to know it's there. >> it's worth $100,000 here but in mississippi it's worth much more. she is facing drug smuggling charges. >> a deadly virus has turned up in the united states and now other potential victims are being warned. the disease is called mers. the outbreak centered in saudi arabia. since then at least 400 cases have been reported and more than 100 of them have died. there is no, vaccine or cure. the first case is a man in indiana. now people who may have come into contact with him during his flight home are being located. a jury reached a mixed verdict in a patent lawsuit between apple and samsung. both companies accuse the other of violating patents for smart phones at the federal trial in san jose. yesterday the jury awarded apple $120 million for two patent infringements a fraction of the two billion dollars apple had asked for. and the jury awarded samsung $158,000 saying apple violated one of samsung's patents. >> san francisco police are warning women to watch their purses after a number of purse snatchings. the most recent report cost a woman more than $20,000 in valuables. it happened at a north teenager was planning to kill students at a nearby school and his parents. the suspect in a deadly stabbing in connecticut is being charged as an adult. the 16-year-old stabbed another student to death in the stair well of their high school. there are report that it happened after she wouldn't go to prom with him. he is being medicated and will be on suicide watch at the facility where he is being heldf. convicted of murder he faces up to 60 years. some pennsylvania teens did their best to put a stabbing behind them and attend prom. last night victims of the franklin stabbing were all smiles. the teens were celebrating the event that got postponed after the april 9th tragedy. they followed the tradition and walked the promenande and some say they thought it was going to help them we have developing news this morning in the case of the teenage stowaway who flew to hawaii in the wheel well of a jetliner. a spokeswoman for hawaii's department of human services says the 15-year-old boy is no longer there, but she did not specify how or when he left or who he traveled with. the boy's father arrived in hawaii on monday and had planned to bring his son home to santa clara, but yesterday the san jose mercury news reported that the hawaiian social service agency officials would not let him see his son, although it was unclear why. the fbi says the teenager was trying to get to somalia to find his birth mother. a deadly fire in oakland is now under investigation. it started just before 3:00 a.m. on parker and bancroft avenues. firefighters say they found the body of an elderly woman inside the home, after the fire was put out. her name has not yet been released. police say the fire started in the bedroom and then spread to other parts of the home. >> pretty much a tragic incident. never want to, you know, have any fire fatalities. unfortunately tonight, this was something that we had to experience. >> investigators say there were no smoke detectors inside that house. new this morning, police in san francisco are investigating a hit and run crash that involved three cars. it happened just before 2:30 this morning and ktvu's allie rasmus is live at the scene for us to tell us what witnesses say about how that crash happened. allie? >> reporter: all the cars involved in this crash have been towed away, but there's still some shattered glass out here on the pavement and on the sidewalk. off to our right, there is a stain of motor oil or car fluid that leaked out after the collision. there's a crack in the wall of this apartment building where one of the cars slammed into it. this intersection at cesar chavez and fulsom was shut down for five hours. san francisco police confirmed they are investigating this as a hit and run because the driver who is believed to have caused the crash fled the scene. police are still looking for that driver. according to several witnesses, a black infinity with three to four people inside ran a red light at fulsom and cesar chavez and t-boned a corolla, sending the car into the wall of an apartment building. a third car, a green bmw, was also struck. the impact was loud enough to wake up some of the people living nearby. >> it was the loudest. you couldn't even -- you don't even hear screeching. you hear a big hit, really loud. >> did you come outside? >> oh, yeah. i called 911 also. >> reporter: that neighbor and several other people who live in the area came out to see the aftermath of the crash. some of them tried to help the driver of the toyota. they said he was unconscious and appeared to be in very bad shape. police say the driver suffered life-threatening injuries and is at san francisco general hospital this morning. police want to talk to the driver of the black infinity. he apparently fled the scene on foot. police have not been able to find him, but he is considered a suspect in this hit and run collision. no word from police about whether the passengers in that black infinity are cooperating with this investigation. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2news. former secretary of state condoleezza rice has turned down an invitation to deliver the commencement speech at rutgers university. rice made that decision after some students and staff protested her invitation because of her role in the iraq war. this morning, she released a statement saying her invitation had become a distraction for the university at a time of celebration for the graduates. everything is on the line tonight between the golden state warriors and the los angeles clippers. the teams will square off in game 7 of their playoff series, the first game 7 for the warriors since 1977. winner moves on. loser goes home. warriors fans say publicly for the first time since the release of that controversial audio reporting. the clippers owner talked to a los angeles life-style magazine, releasing one brief quote of him commenting about his mistress. sterling said, quote, i wish i had just paid her off, end quote. the nba has banned sterling for life and is trying to force him to sell the team. more arrests are expected in what's being called one of the largest prostitution busts in bay area history. yesterday, hundreds of officers in six different counties conducted simultaneous raids at 32 massage parlors, spas and homes. ktvu went with a caravan of deputies as they raided one of the sites. investigators say they targeted 19 people they believe are leaders in the alleged prostitution ring. 18 of those suspects are now in custody. a man who lives by one of the locations says he's been a little suspicious of the business. >> it looked really like a low- budget massage parlor, but the owner drives a mercedes and looks like they have money. >> the district attorney says about 50 women are now being interviewed to determine whether or not they are victims of the ring. most of the women are asian and range in age from 18 to 40. investigators say they expect to make more arrests. a pregnant woman is recovering after being hit by a car in the crosswalk of a san francisco street. it happened just after 2:30 yesterday afternoon at 18th and diamond streets in the castro district. the woman was walking in the crosswalk. the 33-year-old driver did say at the scene and was cited for failure to kwr50e8d to a pedestrian. the woman's injuries are not life threatening. oakland police are offering a reward up to $10,000 for information in connection with a deadly hit and run. 68-year-old william hope, jr. was struck and killed last saturday morning at 51st and telegraph. neighbors say the driver stopped, looked at hope, then drove off. police say the driver may have been riding in a white audi or infinity suv. happening today, a vigil will be held in hope's neighborhood. neighbors and friends are being encouraged to bring flowers for an altar. people in the neighborhood say hope would meet his friends every morning at the local coffee shop. a police commander will be at the vigil to share information and listen to concerns. it started at 9:00 this morning at 50th and telegraph avenue. also happening today, there is a walk to remember a young man who was shot and killed by oakland police two years ago. 18-year-old alan bloomford was killed in east oakland on may 6, 2012. investigators say he pointed a gun at an officer, causing that officer to shoot him. officials say the officer acted in self defense and no charges were ever filed against him. but bloomford's family claim the teen did not have a gun, nor did he pose a threat. today's event begins with a noon time service and ceremony at lake merritt near children's fairyland. the solidarity walk begins at 1:00. a deadly virus from the mideast surfaces for the first time in the u.s. the current threat and who might have come in contact with the victim. >> and actor director ben affleck booted from a las vegas hotel. what got him landslide in afghanistan and as many as 2000 others are missing. the landslide buried hundreds of homes in a small village in a remote part of northeastern afghanistan. a second landslide hit as others rushed to help with the rescue. it has been difficult to find victims because crews only have shovels to dig through the rubble. heavy rains earlier this week may be to blame for that landslide. and there are a couple of new developments in the ukraine crisis this morning. 12 international military observers kidnapped by pro russian separatists have now been freed. a russian envoy negotiated the release in eastern ukraine. meantime, ukrainian forces are resuming military actions against pro russian forces. violence flared yesterday as separatists shot down two helicopters and took part in clashes. yosemite park rangers are warning people to leave those flying drones at home when they visit the park. rangers say people have been using drones to shoot spectacular and otherwise impossible-to-get shots of the park scenery, but they say they are a risk to public safety and create unwanted noise. the federal regulations also ban the use of the unmanned aircraft. the faa is investigating the use of a drone by a news station in arkansas. this video was shot to capture the damage after last week's deadly tornado. the station's news director says it gave great perspective into the devastation. the faa says the use of drones for commercial purposes is prohibited, except in rare cases when the faa has given its approval. a couple in arkansas who lost with air conditioning, telephones, computer terminals and tvs with satellite service. southwest says the four shelters will fit all of its employees comfortably. a hollywood actor also known for his screen writing will no longer be allowed to play black jack at one las vegas casino. a source close to ben affleck says the hard rock casino banned him from playing the game. reports indicate he may says an ongoing police investigation involving him has changed his way of thinking. last month, a woman filed a police report in miami naming kaepernick and quinton patton and ricardo locket. she claimed she was partying with the players, but somehow ended up in the hospital. kaepernick spoke at a prayer breakfast in turlock yesterday morning, telling the audience even though the experience was a bad circumstance, he feels blessed. he said, quote, it made me stronger. it's made me look at things differently. it makes me very happy to know that people are staying behind me the way they have. the 49ers are sticking with troubled linebacker aldon smith. the team picked up his 2015 option, despite smith's legal issues. the option is worth $9.75 million. team officials were debating whether to extend smith after he was arrested at lax last month for allegedly making a bomb threat. charges have not been filed in that case. however, smith is still facing felony gun charges and a drunk driving count in santa clara county. well, trouble for a tiny horse. it got stuck in, what else? a tiny sinkhole. 20 minutes from now, a look at the rescue. >> a south bay high school could find itself in the middle of a cinco de mayo protest monday morning. the controversy that started with shirts depicting the american flag. . happening now, volunteers are teaming up with local recycling workers to help clean up oakland city streets. the group is planting trees and flowers in the fruitvale neighborhood. they are working together today from 9:00 a.m. until noon. organizers say the event is celebrating two holidays, may day in honor of working families, and cinco de mayo. well, more than a thousand volunteers are rushing to save a record number of young sea lions and seals along the california coast. hundreds of pups are beaching themselves. many of them are malnourished and dehydrated. volunteers have been taking them for a rescue center in the marin headlands to be cleaned, fed and medicated. marine scientists are trying to figure out what could be causing those pups to come to shore. now, we're finding out new details about a massive meat recall at a slaughterhouse in petaluma. according to cnn, the rancho feeding corporation knowingly bought diseased dairy cows and processed them when government inspectors weren't there. federal investigators say the plant hid the warning signs of that cancer by trimming off diseased parts and using a fake stamp of approval. cnn is also reporting a government safety inspector had a romantic relationship with a plant foreman. in march, the company was forced to recall nearly 9 million pounds of meat. monday is cinco de mayo, but instead of a celebration, one south bay high school is preparing for possible protest. ktvu's ken pritchett has more on the controversy surrounding live oak high school and the plans to keep students safe. >> reporter: beyond a very long security fence, it is not clear what will greet students at live oak high come cinco de mayo morning. >> my expectation is my child will remain home. lot of people will also keep their children home. >> reporter: juan lopez represents one side of the debate, a planned demonstration by gilroy-morgan hill patriots. >> i think this whole ordeal, everything that's happening is a clear example of why we are rallying. we are rallying in support of first amendment rights. >> reporter: the genesis of the demonstration, four years ago, four live oak high students wore american flag t-shirts on cinco de mayo. those students said it was out of pride. latino students saw it as disrespectful. the school made the students turn the shirts inside out. a recent 9th circuit ruling sided with the district, citing campus security. lopez says he fears violence on monday. >> when you look back at 2010 when children were assaulted, including a parent who spoke to the media earlier, his children were -- rocks were thrown at them. >> reporter: but at most, 50 of the members will simply hold american flags outside the school. >> we don't want to incite violence. we don't want to incite remarks. we're not there to have a debate. >> we don't have any problem with that. it's the problem they created themselves by inviting these motorcyclists who nobody really knows who they are. >> reporter: lopez is referring to a flyer posted on the patriots website about a motorcycle ride past the school in the afternoon. but that ride has nothing to do with this organization, they say, which intends to rally silently before school begins monday morning. >> people say you can have your freedom of speech rights. you can have your first amendment rights. just don't do it here. don't do it there. there's no caveat on the first amendment. >> ken pritchett reporting there. the school district has said live oak high is no place for a demonstration, especially with students taking ap exams. police will be present on campus. san jose police will have extra officers on the street for this cinco de mayo weekend. patrol officers, traffic enforcement and gang suppression units will work through the weekend in case celebrations get out of control. thousand tion of people come to san jose every year for cinco de mayo weekend. last year, police made several arrests for violence, vandalism, drugs and public drunkenness. bad news for margarita lovers. a major shortage of limes could mean higher prices at bay area bars. in the past few weeks, the price for a case of limes went up six times more than average. officials say the hornlg is mostly due to a devastating citrus disease in mexico. one woman dining at north beach learned a very costly lesson. she was robbed of more than $20,000 in valuables. the warning this morning about purse snatches in cooling trend sticks around, coming up. well, we have developing news this morning in the case of the teenage stowaway who flew to hawaii in the wheel well of a jetliner. a spokeswoman for hawaii's department of human services says the 15-year-old boy is no longer there. she did not specify how or when he left or who he traveled with. the boy's father arrived in hawaii on monday and had planned to bring his son home to santa clara. but yesterday, the san jose mercury news reported that the officials from the hawaiian social service agency wouldn't let him see his son, although it's unclear why. the fbi says the teenager was trying to get to somalia to find his birth mother. tsa screeners at oakland international airport say they found 81 pounds of marijuana in three checked bags. the discovery was made yesterday morning. police say 26-year-old anastasia murdock checked the bags. she is from jackson, mississippi, and was arrested as she awaited a flight to jackson. the marijuana was found in vacuum-sealed bags. >> even if it is vacuum-sealed, it's still going to give off an odor. you wouldn't have to be a genius to figure out there was marijuana in that bag. >> investigators say the marijuana is worth about $100,000 in california, but in mississippi, it's worth much more. murdock is now facing drug smuggling charges. a former concord police officer accused of stealing prescription drugs from seniors has pleaded no contest. 38-year-old matthew switzer was sentenced yesterday to two and a half years in jail. prosecuters say switzer used his badge to enter the homes of seniors. they say he stole a powerful prescription drug called norco. switzer apologized yesterday in court. his attorney says he suffered from addiction and ptsd. a search continues for a calfire battalion chief who allegedly stabbed and killed ace 26-year-old fiance. 55 yorld orrville fleming could be armed and is considered dangerous. on thursday morning, the body of sarah douglas was found in the sacramento home the couple shared. later that night, fleming's truck was found in elk grove with blood inside. investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to call the sacramento county sheriff's department. for the first time a deadly virus from the middle east has turned up in the u.s. now, other potential victims are being warned. the disease is called me respiratory syndrome, mers. at least 400 cases have been reported and more than a hundred of those patients have died. there is no vaccine our cure, but doctors say it does not spread easily. the first case in the u.s. is a man from indiana who just returned from saudi arabia, where he's employed as a healthcare worker. now, people who might have come in contact with him on that flight home are being located and tested. a santa rosa jury reached a mixed verdict in a patent lawsuit between apple and samsung. both companies accuse the other of violating products. the jury awarded apple $122 million for two patent infringements. a fraction of the $2 billion apple had asked for. the jury awarded samsung $158,000, saying apple violated one of samsung's pat he wants. san francisco police are investigating a hit and run three-car crash. it happened just before 2:30 a.m. allie rasmus tells us people living nearby rushed to the scene to help. allie? >> reporter: the intersection where this happened at cesar chavez and fulsom at 2:20 this morning. a car traveling south on fulsom ran a red light and t-boned an oncoming car. when the two cars crashed, one car slammed into the wall of the apartment building across the street from us. the car that ran the red light ended up at the -- crashed onto the sidewalk, narrowly missing those two trees there. witnesses say the driver who ran the red light got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene. police are still looking for that driver. there were two to three other passengers in that car. but the driver of this blue toyota corolla, the car that was t-boned, was critically injured. he was sent to san francisco hospital with life-threatening injuries. neighbors who live in the area nearby heard the crash, ran out to try and help the man in that car. >> i shined a flashlight in there. there was a man in there that was unconscious. he was in the driver's seat, sort of leaning toward the passenger seat. he had been thrown there by the impact. >> he was really bad. the guy was in the car, really bad. the whole side of his car was like smashed in on the driver's side. really scary to see. >> reporter: meanwhile, san francisco police are trying to find the driver of a black infinity. according to several witnesses, that was the vehicle that ran the red light. again, there were three to four people in the car, according to witnesses. the driver ran away from the scene after the crash. police are trying to find him, investigating this as a hit and run collision. another vehicle was also struck in this collision, although it's unclear whether it was the infinity or the toyota that struck it. the driver of the green bmw was not seriously injured. that driver did stay at the scene and talk to police. now, police were investigating this crash for about five hours after it happened. they had the two eastbound lanes of seize sar chavez shut down as part of the investigation, but it reopened just before 7:00 this morning. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2news. a man is in jail this morning, accused of stabbing to death the mother of three in san jose. 22-year-old gabriel alejo has been booked on suspicion of murder. officers say he killed 28-year- old theresa marivia inside her apartment on tuesday. they have not discussed a motive or how the two are related, but the two do list each other as friends on their facebook pages. the woman leaves behind three girls, a baby and 9-year-old twins. a neighbor said the loss is immeasurable. >> she's not going to see her kids grow up, see their weddings or anything like that. i'm glad they caught him. >> a neighbor says the woman's husband is planning to move and there's no reason for the family to stay there anymore. san francisco police are warning women to keep an extra eye on those purses, after a slew of purse snatchings in the past few weeks. police say the most recent report cost one woman more than $20,000 in valuables. it happened at a north beach restaurant thursday night while she was watching the warriors game. her purse was hanging on the back of her chair. >> she had everything from her wedding ring to other jewelry in her purse. the purse alone was an extensive louis vuitton purse, cell phone, ipad, keys to her house. >> 15 minutes after the woman's purse went missing, her credit card was used at a nearby safeway. police say the suspects usually come into restaurants, don't order anything and are there for just a short amount of time. the santa rosa police department is the latest in the bay area to test out new body cameras. 12 officers are part of a new pilot program to wear the cameras. those cameras will record their interactions with the public. the oakland police department already uses body cameras and police in walnut creek recently started testing them out. some officers say they are worried about privacy, but others say the pros do outweigh the cons. >> we all realize that it's not a big brother. it's a tool that we could use to basically tell our side of the story. >> we certainly wouldn't want cameras on all the time. i'm sure you can understand for citizens privacy reasons and the officers needing a moment to decompress. >> the berkeley city council is also looking into having officers wear cameras. a popular fitness attraction in sauce sausalito is considering moving. a marina says the area is becoming too crowded and can't afford the cost. sea trek says they have a new solution. >> my vision is to crabt with the marina, with the public, with the city, in order to make this work for everybody. >> sea trek supporters are trying to get the sausalito city council involved to help keep the business open. they have also created a petition on change.org. some san francisco business owners say a construction project that is widening sidewalks is actually squeezing their profits. the construction project in the city's castro district began in march. it aims to make the neighborhood more pedestrian- friendly. but with parking temporarily suspended on two blocks, several business owners tell ktvu tourists and residents -- fewer tourists and residents are coming into the community to spend money. >> you'll have to close the doors while the construction is done. meantime, who takes care of the expenses? >> the sidewalk widening project is set to be completed by june, in time of the city's gay pride celebration. a construction project in alameda has started and could impact drivers in the east bay. last night, cal trans workers began demolition work on the marina boulevard bridge. lanes have been shut down on interstate 880 in both directions at marina boulevard and traffic is being rerouted. the construction and lane closures will continue through may 16th. important to note, everything is back open right now, but overnight, that's certainly affecting things. the favorite to win today's kentucky derby has department to come to the rescue. firefighters had to build a ramp and then fill dirt around norton's feet to help him escape. they say he was able to make it out. they are just fine. he got out feed right now. the police chief from richmond is saying the cinco de mayo parade is getting under way about 10:00 this morning. i want to ask rosemary, it gets pretty crowded in richmond for the these comparisons, it is pretty dramatic, just how much cooler we are over what we had on thursday. take a look at what's going on. now, i'm going to give you the numbers from yesterday into today. we can take a comparison from yesterday into today. areas like napa, 80 degrees yesterday. 76 for today. san francisco, just a few degrees of cooling expectedded for your afternoon today. but you had a big drop come on friday, over thursday. concord, 86 yesterday. 74 for today. san jose, you have a notable drop coming your way as well, 73 expected this afternoon. 5 to 10 degrees of cooling for some of our areas, closer to 15 for livermore. but when you look at san francisco on thursday, where we hit 84 degrees, thursday to today, that's almost 20 degrees of cooling. concord, in the same boat. concord, close to 94 on thursday. today, 74. so quite a difference over just the last couple of days. so for the afternoon today, temperatures will be right about where they should be, the seasonal average. it has to do with the system over the pacific that is slowly moving closer to the coast. it has increased our onshore breeze, kicking up the marine layer. and that's what we have for the
