county fire department was aggressive in their attack in search techniques and were able to make a successful rescue with hopefully a good outcome.>> reporter: there were three kids in the home when the fire started just before 8:30 am this morning, the 16-year-old girl was badly hurt and her 17- year-old brother, and they have and eight-year-old nephew, and the 17-year-old and a-year-old have minor injuries, and here's a picture of the youngest boy as he was taken away by the paramedics. we have just learned that there happened to be a neighbor driving by just as the fire broke out, and this man rushed into the burning home trying to rescue the girl that was trapped inside. and he spoke with us and said that he went inside the bedroom and said that the smoke was too much and he could not reach the girl.>> it has to be one of the most terrifying things and i cannot imagine jumping into burning building, but all i could think of was that there was a girl in that house. i could not just and out there and let her burn.>> reporter: the fire, according to authorities, appears to have started in the living room area and quickly spread back to the bedroom where the girl was, and it is unclear exactly what started the fire. officials say it does not appear that there is anything suspicious about the fire. at last check, the 16-year-old girl injured was initially taken over to the eden hospital and airlifted down to that santa clara valley medical center burn unit. she remains in the burn unit this afternoon and there are two other children that were hurt and they are still in sentence is far too light. >> reporter: there was a time when robert last singer had the trust of this patients, but the judge in redwood city has charged him with two counts of sexual wateree on two patients. he wasn't anesthesia technician at the outpatient surgery center in redwood city since 2009. last year federal employees -- fellow employees noticed him inappropriately touching patients that were under sedation while they were transferred to the operating room. the case never went to trial because he led no contest to the sexual battery charges and as a result of the plea deal, he will now serve one year in county jail, and be on three years supervised probation and will have to register as a sex offender, but some say that more serious punishment should have been given. >> it why we are ready to go to trial.>> the prosecutors were hoping that he would service time immediately, but after hearing the defense attorney, they have granted him three weeks to get his affairs in order. his attorney says that the actions are uncharacteristic of p.m. and he will have to surrender to the jail bike july 23, and will have to register as a sex offender and can have no communication with minors. his attorney would give no comment after the sentencing hearing.>> thank you, brian. about one hour ago, the advocates calling for the removal of the judge persky who sentenced brock turner to six months in jail for sexual assault of an unconscious woman on the stanford campus. prosecutors had asked for six years in prison, and the signature delivery comes as the california commission on judicial performance meets for the first time since the brock turner sentencing, and the commission is responsible for investigating complaints of judicial conduct. police said that 32-year- old that had been living on the same downtown doorstep or six years was stabbed almost 50 times. the autopsy report says he was killed early monday morning sometime after midnight. detectives are hoping that the knife that was found near his body will lead to the killer, checking with downtown businesses, and they suspect that the knife was recently bought or stolen. he peddled his poems county north of the american river where the trailhead fire evacuations are taking place. fire crews are taking each home alerting the homeowners, and some have refused to evacuate. the flames are just behind me about 2 miles from us. the risk of triple digit temperatures and the dry conditions could severely compromised this area. the crews are working hard to contain the wildfire that spread overnight, and the trailhead fire area has burned 350 acres across el dorado and placer county. 250 personnel are battling the ark, currently at a 5% containment. the major challenge is the remote location, hiking thursday and rough terrain to battle the flames on the ground, but this wildfire is overwhelmingly being battle from the sky. eight caretakers and four helicopters, and the challenge of the fire is the incline, and cal fire is telling us that today is a pivotal point on the wildfire progression. luckily at this time, the fire is staying within the fire retardant lines that were created by cal fire, but we know how unpredictable wildfires can be. no structures or individuals have been compromised and the calls of the fire is still under investigation. this remote location is the police in south bay investigating two deadly shootings and the recent uptick in violence. two high school students accused of killing one student in injuring another appeared in the courtroom for the first time today, charged with gang activity and they believe that perhaps the violence was gang related. the attorneys said outside of the court that his client was not affiliated with again. >> we have no information that he is in a gang. you saw him in the courtroom, and there are no tattoos on him, and he is a 17-year-old high school student and his predicament is very serious and he understands that. he is scared about what is going on.>> the third defendant is being charged with an accessor after-the-fact and they are looking for the fourth suspect that is still at large, 17-year-old edwin carrara shot to death and fingers hacked off with a knife, and another student shot and survived in the hearing has been continued until july 6 when the defendants are expected to enter pleas to the charges. time to track down suspects in two deadly shootings, and it happened in different parts of the city, north san jose and the other downtown, and we have the latest from the investigators. >> reporter: there has not been an arrest in either case and the detectives are still going over the evidence and looking over the interview staff conducted to put together some sort of a suspect description to try to figure out who targeted these men. the latest shooting happened in broad daylight on greek row, lined with fraternity and sorority houses. two men were discovered in a vehicle shot several times, one man died and the other is in critical condition. the night before another man sitting in a car was shot and killed near lundy. yesterday the shooting brings that total number of homicides in san jose to 24. last year there were 10 at this time. the pace continues, and by gear in san jose will have got highest homicide count in 24 years. we asked the police if they know what is behind the increase. >> typically in the summer months the violence tends to increase. there's no correlation between the homicides we have had as far as any connection between them. we really don't have an answer other than aside from the summer months typically we have an increase in violence. >> reporter: the police say right now there's no indication that the crimes are connected and they have not released a motive in either case. there is an important issue to note, when it comes to solving homicides, they have pretty high rate compared to most police departments in the u. s. police departments in the u. s. three people are behind bars in the deadly shooting outside of the first communion party in san leandro almost 2 months ago outside of the senior center. the suspects are gang members and they shot and killed a man that was a member of a rival faction of the same game. after the shooting, investigators say that the suspects stole minivan it crashed into an issue be and ran from the scene. they were tracked down in a raid in union city and san jose on monday night.>> they are pretty young, 14 and 16 years old. but unfortunately, our investigation has led us to believe that they clearly are advanced for people of that age, especially when they are involved in violent crimes.>> the police arrested the 14-year- old and the 60 out, and a 25- year-old in connection with the shooting. alameda county prosecutors will review the case today and consider whether the teenagers should be charged as adults. the pittsburgh police department is accused of -- pittsburg police department is accused of hiding records, and the motions were filed claiming that they intentionally withheld files from the judge, and the police department says it was an inadvertent mistake. the police department often shares misconduct records with the judge's to determine whether the information applies to a case. in san francisco, the 40 people whose homes were destroyed in the massive apartment fire in the mission district are on the move again. the people that lost their homes of been sleeping at the salvation army center, and the red cross is paying for depression according to the doctors and ended up on the streets. >> reporter: homeless outreach workers have convinced him to move indoors, now one of 55 people staying at the newest navigation center inside the civic center hotel. this is the second navigation center in san francisco, and the first when opened last year on mission street. >> this is home, the first place i have been in doors for 14 years and it is mine, and i can lock the key. >> reporter: this is the latest answer for homelessness, and they can find services and eventually housing. >> the navigation center is the model we should be pursuing. it is a low barrier entry into a programmer people can come as they are with partners or pets. and with their possessions. >> reporter: with so many tenants popping up, city halls as announced it will establish a dedicated unit, "encampment response team. those quote at the encampment, they say they would like to get off of the street, and the navigation centers claim to have
