. we're getting the show on the road. so we have weather and traffic. >> we're watching the morning commute. it's windy out there. >> that's right. i'm also tracking a crash that's backing up traffic heading out of san francisco. >> see how things are coming together with the weather and traffic? >> yes, and storms will come together this week. we'll begin with the one that's going to happen today. you see the clouds out there and you'll probably experience the winds the second you step out the door because they've been strong all morning long. we've seen gusts 35 to 36 miles per hour, sustained winds in the 20s and it's going to impact you especially on the bridges. two hands on the wheel. we've got a quick look of what we're expecting later on today. you can see san francisco is at 7 but we had 26 miles per hour earlier. oakland, 20 miles per hour winds there, 17 in hayward, and the rain is on the way. it's getting closer and closer. when we started the broadcast at 4:00 it was offshore, and now it's making its way inland. this stretch will impact the bay area later on this afternoon. right now, not much falling but that's going to change for the ride home. during the morning hours, you're fine. the kids getting to school will be okay. cloudy during the lunch hour. temperatures in the upper 60s for most, and then at 3:00 this afternoon, we have the chance of seeing a few light showers, especially in the north bay for kids heading home, so you'll want to keep that in mind. the evening commute could be wet. i'll explore that more in detail coming up in 15 minutes. you can always use our mobile app. now let's get to the traffic center. good morning. lots of heavy traffic heading both into and out of san francisco. i want to show you this shot quickly. this is traffic on north 101 through san francisco heading toward the eastbound skyway, an accident just cleared at 7th street. it was blocking two lanes of traffic, so if you have to use 101 north to get into downtown or the bay bridge, it is backed up well beyond 280. it's going to be a very slow right. north 101 a parking lot right now because of that earlier accident. switching over to the opposite direction, 80 west. this is traffic approach thing bay bridge toll plaza and it's just as bad. it's backed up. the east shore freeway now packed so it's about 19 minutes to get from the foot of the your speed. thank you. more on the storm that's about to roll in and the winds. we have wind advisories on the bridges right now from the chp. >> we've been talking about the windy bridges and how to steer straight and hold on to the wheel. let's go to the bay bridge live taking a look at drivers there. >> good morning. the evening commute may be a wet one. this morning, especially if you're somebody who is going to travel over one of the bay area bridges, it's the wind that's going to be a concern. wind advisories on two bridges, including this one here at the bay bridge. you can see the traffic heading out towards the incline. there's also a wind advisory on the san mateo bridge. i can tell you i traveled across the richmond bridge earlier this morning, and that was a tough one. if you're someone traveling in a high-profile vehicle, be aware of that. traffic is moving so slowly on the bay bridge, it's probably not a concern. the other thing you'll notice on the bay bridge is that new exit. instead of going to the left lane, you're going to have to get in the far right lane. the sign you see there, that changeable message board, that is warning drivers about that this morning. so not only do you have to contend with the wind, but that new exit. if you're traveling on the bay bridge this morning, beaware. >> thank you, and if you're being to hit the roads, you'll are going to come over your house. look at the scene right now. >> when i am going to -- you're saying like a week. >> at this point maybe middle of next week. hold off until then. now you've got the weather on your side, you can push off anything you want to do outside until hopefully the middle of next week. look at the clouds over san francisco. we do have clear skies at least in pockets overhead as you can see, but we have a storm coming, and this shot does a good job of showing you that. this is the view looking past alcatraz, and you see san francisco in the background, also tracking cloud cover over sfo. here's a live look at the airport, and delays are there, as expected. 187 minutes because of low clouds, so you're looking at pretty serious delays for inbound flights into sfo. no problem for oakland or san jose, but san francisco international dealing with this system which is bringing rain to our far northern portions, and we have clouds coming closer to the bay, and in those clouds will be the rain that we will enjoy later today. 9:00, the commute hour, it looks like just the clouds and wind. that's going to be a problem on the way to work. lunchtime, we're looking at showers maybe popping up in the north bay at that point. by 3:00 in the afternoon, kids are getting out of school, you've got after-school programs underway, we'll have light showers in the north bay and beginning to get into san francisco as well, so expect it to be on the wet side, especially north of the golden gate bridge. then by 6:00, 7:00 tonight when a lot of folks are on the road heading home, you'll deal with a bands of showers, light in nature but pockets of moderate rain as you can see with this yellow. that's what you're going to be struggling through as you get home. depending on where you are. those cooler temperatures out along the coast. warmer inland. you can see the east bay looking at low 70s. monday, tuesday wednesday, we have the showers that stretch into tuesday. brief break on wednesday, and then we reset the dial and do its all over again thursday into friday. it's going to be wet into the workweek. don't forgot our mobile app, a great way to stay updated on the weather as it moves overhead. you can track it live with the radar right there in the palm of your hand. now let's get a check of the roads. it is backed up through the maze. it's not getting any better. no big problem, no major accidents, but the heavy traffic here spills over to upper 24. it's 21 minutes from the foot of the maze going to fremont street. heading out to san francisco, we had an accidents at 7th street. that's gone but it was blocking two lanes. if you have to get out of san francisco, expect at least a 25- minute trip from sfo to the central freeway split. so slow heading in, slow heading out. backed up too at the richmond center. no major problems, but it's crowded. check out 680. the drive out to free month, 30 minutes. an the right to and out of hayward north and south will be packed. 42 minutes from 238 to 237. and a quick check of the south bay. nothing major going on, but here's 2280, your northbound ride from 101, lots of stop and go traffic. right now it's clocking in at 26 minutes. 7:18, and breaking news. five people are dead, killed in a plane crash. >> the cause of the crash still under investigation, but witnesses told investigators that they did not hear an explosion before it slammed into the ground. now, this is breaking news from overnight. we want to show you this is dash cam. you can see from the left to the right of your screen. we stopped it just a little bit so you can see it, and then moments after that it slams into the ground, turns into a big ball of flame. we do know that the plane was heading from malta to libya, and earlier reports that the plane tipped to the right after takeoff. we have also learned that all five victims were french and on their way to libya to monitor migrant trafficking routes to the french government. we do know that if everything had worked out, they would have taken off and returned a couple hours after that. no identities have been released so far of the victims. back to you. a 77-year-old man is dead. a tree branch broke off and fell on his in his old back yard. it fell on david lombard while he was gardening and he died at the scene. his neighbors say they're concerned about the trees in the area. >> it's a whole new awareness. there's a path near here in the woods and it's a grove of eucalyptus lining both sides of the path. i walk on that all the time, and sometimes there's some creeking noises and i think oh my god, is it going to fall. >> residents in the neighborhood say having to remove the trees could cost tens of thousands of dollars. 7:20 right now. and now we know the names of the two men shot and killed earlier this month in the north bay. there was a candle light vigil for them last night. they were killed in a marijuana sale that turned violent. friends say the two lived to help others. >> like making things happen and like a go getter and just wanted to help everybody. he helped so many people. >> he was killed by someone who didn't know him because he was the most generous man i know. for example, there's a man here who was burned out in a fire. nathan has been paying half his rent since then every month. >> police are looking for two suspects, including the men you see on the screen there in the left-hand side. police say he left the scene in a white vehicle with a woman. the philadelphia airport is investigating how two passengers boarded an empty plane and walked in through an unlocked jetway. officials at american airlines say the man and his daughter were confused, they didn't speak english. the man thought he saw someone walk through the door and followed them. the flight from philadelphia to boston was delayed for hours after airport officials decided to switch planes for safety reasons. american airlines said it doesn't consider their boarding a security breach because they had gone through security. about one third of low-wage workers say they'll never be able to afford retirement. this is according to a new study. >> researchers say it is common for workers to stay on a job until they're physically unable to work. this problem is even more severe among minority women. the study found many people have to work beyond retirement age. as far as bay area jobs go, the unemployment rate here in the area is below the state average for september. the lowest unemployment rate was san mateo county. the highest was 5.3%. the statewide unemployment average is much higher at 5.5 percent, in fact higher than the national average, which is 5%. there are a lot of robberies, a string of them. we'll tell you where this is going on and what police are looking for. >> and after the break, a major airline is facing criticism this morning after they started . welcome back. the time is 7:25. the ride in from san francisco, 80 west, still backed up at the toll plaza. it's a lighter commute, the sun is coming up, but the traffic is backed up through the maze. give yourself around 23 to 25 minutes to make it from the foot of the maze to fremont street. no hot spots. i'll have another traffic check coming up in a few minutes. now back to the news. we're getting closer to the holiday season, and a lot of retailers are announcing their black friday s sales. they say they're going to pay employees for the day off. that's at rei. that's a good thing to do. >> store with a heart. >> and online also closed. i mean that's unusual. black friday for everybody else means sales, and macy's just announced last week they're going to open at 5:00 on thanksgiving. 5:00 is so early. >> i'm sure the employees are thrilled about it. >> there's a big backlash too. american airlines is wanting to weigh passengers before take off in order to save fuel. >> how humiliating would it be? >> so now i'm not going to eat before i fly. >> like the oscars, just slimming down before my flight. they're only asking customers to step on the scales before flying to american samoa. it's only that flight. the department of transportation ruled in favor of this. they say the airline can do it. they say even distribution is really important in preventing a crash. touchy subject. we're tracking rain around the bay. here's a quick look at the radar view. there's the storm system. we'll talk about the timing as it makes its way closer and closer to san francisco. . 7:30 and we're already all talking about halloween because it looks like the storm is going to . >> may need a water proof costume. it tends to rain on halloween. >> and if it's not raining, it's on the cold side. >> i don't feel guilty about not dressing up and just knocking if i'm hungry. you get a kit-kat. it's a great time of year. >> don't do that. the winds have been howling all morning long. i've got the rain to the storm system. we didn't think it was going to be impacting the morning commute. it's the afternoon commute that could be wet for you. the evening ride home, so make sure you've got the umbrella or the rain jacket with you just in case, because then you'll see as we talk about this throughout the hour, the rain could be set up for right at the peak of the ride home. here's where it is right now. you see the strip of it well to our north. the timing puts it over the north bay anywhere between noon and 3:00, and the rest of the area right as you're trying to get home. there are showers on the radar near tahoe. you can see the lake there in the background. a lot of clouds overhead. you can't make out the rain falling here but it is raining especially over the passes right now. the clouds over the golden gate bridge, we're watching carefully, and eventually they'll start dropping rain. at times it's been gusting upwards of 35, 36 miles per hour. here's what you can expect. storm number one impacts us this afternoon and last until tuesday afternoon. storm number two, will be thursday into friday. that looks more widespread and stronger. a few sun breaks now and again, a few sprinkles now and again and that looks like it's going to extend into monday. you'll have to stay tuned to that forecast as we closer to halloween. don't forget to download the mobile app. in your commute home, it will likely be wet. let's talk about the roads now. it's pretty busy out there. nothing major or awful right now. a lot of fender-benders and lots of traffic including the right into san francisco. the bay bridge under a high wind advisory, so be extra careful this morning. the back up goes through the maze, but you know that if you take this trip every day. just a quick check of drive times. i haven't found any hot spots, but if you use highway 4, you're just under 40 minutes to get from hill crest up to 242, and then more heavy traffic after that, south of 242, south 680, both packed. now back to the news. 7:31, and to the east where police are investigating a deadly shooting. a man was shot and killed in east oakland last night. it was an 7:00 near bancroft, and he died at the scene. last night's shooting comes as police are investigating shootings that left seven men injured in oakland. maybe there's a connection. we have the story. >> i definitely heard the gunshot. >>reporter: saturday night officers scoured the scene for evidence. >> you don't know who is next. you can be any person walking by and somebody cap you with a gun. >>reporter: the shooting started just before midnight. >> that sounded like a block party and i think there was two different parties because i was hearing two different kinds of music and i was seeing lights and all that stuff. >>reporter: neighbors flagged down a patrol car. after stopping, officers heard even more gunshots near the 7700 block of bancroft avenue. seven men were shot, all between the ages of 27 and 45 years old, according to police. >> that's right outside my house. i can't wait to move. >>reporter: some of the victims were taken to the hospital before police arrived. the rest gave investigators whatever information they had. now, opd says one victim was treated and released. the others are still being treated at nearby hospitals. >> that's crazy. >>reporter: police seized surveillance footage as part of their investigation. the owner of the store tells me this isn't the first time violence erupted in this area. he said he's been held up and shot twice in the last couple of years. this is why he's forced to close this store earlier than he used to. although no one was working at the time of the shootings, police hope cameras captured evidence. it isn't clear if the saturday night parties are connected to the shootings in any way. the investigation continues. and breaking news, iraqi special forces began shelling in mosul. >> it could take months but they've been going at it for several days. new information. now the iraqi special forces are about five miles away from mosul. it is important to recapture that city, and you can see tanks rolling through that area. the iraqi special forces, about 100,000 of them against about 7,000 isis members. they're fighting in the streets but it is going to be very tough. already some casualties. now, this is happening northwest of a christian town to the east of mosul. they're moving toward mosul. the campaign has been taking months to plan and now it's hitting the ground, as you can see right there. it's expected to take a couple months to drive out isis. isis has been controlling mosul for about two years now, and as they move in to mosul, the iraqi forces have been liberating the villages and that is not sitting well with isis members. they have been going to those locations and executing people who are celebrating. a man hit a pedestrian with a car and took offer. tie a look at this picture. the crash happened near broadway in sonoma on friday afternoon. the victim was crossing the street when this car hit him and left the scene. it's a silver pontiac grand prix. there's appears to be damage on the car's hood, and the windshield is cracked. police don't have a detailed description of the driver. you see the window is open but you can't tell who is driving. the victim is expected to make a full recovery. police are asking for help by identifying a man who robbed several schools. this is a man who stole back packs last week. students at cherry valley elementary school reported seeing a man stealing a back pack. a third theft was reported around 9:00 in the morning at a high school. someone had stolen a back pack out of a car. 7:36 is the time. the search is on for a person who shot and killed a man outside of a hotel. it happened around 6:00 yesterday morning outside the hyatt regency hotel on old bay shore highway. a man was found there shot and he died at the scene. we don't have his name at this points, and no arrests have been made, and police haven't released a motive either. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, you've heard the staying, win reduce youth smoking. please. vote yes on prop 56. if we can save even a few lives, it's worth it. . welcome back to the kron 4 morning news. if you need to drive into san francisco right now, there's a back up. it is packed out there. 580 from 24, 80 west backed up, but no hot spots. it will take you 25 to 30 minutes to get from the foot of the maze off to fremont street, and a live look at the san mateo bridge, also heavy traffic here. leaving hayward this morning. it starts back on the 880 south connector and it's jammed. 28 minutes to the bay shore. it's 7:40 right now. for at least the first six months of their lives, babies should be sleeping in the same room as their parents. this is a new recommendation that avoids sids. >> children should sleep on separate surfaces but in the same room, but not on a soft surface. a baby in reach of their mother may be in more coveter. comfort. >> you might think we're saying sleep in your bed. >> in your room. and there is a new bike lock out there combating thieves, and it's an interesting way they're doing. it's making them sick. >> it's called the skunk lock. it looks like a regular lock with white stripes, and the white strips contain a chemical that can make the thieves sick. >> this is such an interesting idea. watch what it's going to do there. it disables the thief. >> the funding is successful, which is trying to raise the money to produce it. it should be available next summer. >> look at that. you sort of mace yourself with skunk smell. >> love it. too bad cars don't have that. >> oh yeah. if you break the window. >> my luck i'd accidentally set it off and smell like a skunk all day at work. here's what we're seeing. rain on the way. we'll talk about the timing and the amount and all that good stuff coming up here in just a minute. . good morning, gary. >> hello. >> i have a great idea. >> wow, what is it? >> this is brilliant. hear me out. forget moving to vegas. i think the raiders should be a road team, just tour. >> they have a better record away from the coliseum. they would just win on the road. i love it. >> their two losses this season, both at home. and they haven't lost on the road. they won yesterday in jacksonville, and now they're going to spend a whole week there in florida and then play tampa bay. >> i think we'd save all kinds of money, right? >> yeah. >> that's my idea. >> how about the travel and the hotel bills and everything else? >> yeah, i goes you got a point there. >> i mean you're saying they're going to save all kinds of money. >> fine. but it's all about winning. i don't care as long as they win. 49ers. they can't win no matter where they are. >> pretty rough. that was a team they could beat yesterday. >> on paper. >> no. they ran out of steam in the second half. >> i understand the positive spin on things, but there's that line between being positive and being delusional. i'd like to know, has aaron lynch passed that line. he says "i know we are the best team in the nfl easily hands d down." he says saying that they're the best team. >> he just played 60 minutes of football. somewhere along the line he probably got hit in the head. >> i wasn't sure. i get the positive spin on the seahawks game. if you believe it was the worst game at any level. >> nobody scored a touchdown in this game. >> it was a great defensive display. >> yeah. >> how about that? >> and a bad kicking display too. both teams had little easy field goals to make to win the game, they didn't get it done. that was a long day of football, but what's funny, if you're a good team like seattle and you don't score, then they say well that was a great defense. if you're a bad team like the 49ers and you don't score, then you stink, you know. >> did you really watch the football game to see a soccer game in the air. it's like a bad soccer game. >> i didn't see the first half, so i only watched half. just to tune in to watch people punt is not exciting. >> you missed nothing i guess. so you say this is bad football. this is not exciting. yet, when i say that a pitcher has a no hitter it's boring, you say that's good baseball. >> in baseball, when a guy is pitching, you're fired up. when a guy is pitching a no hitter, it's pretty dull for a few minutes. then the tension mounts and then it picks up much got it? >> no. >> baseball games, you see no hits for about three to four innings, you go geez, this is putting me to sleep. then you go to the 7th inning, can he do it? you know what i mean. near the end i was curious who won. >> we know who won, that's the dodgers and cubs are in. >> that's the big story. first time in 71 years they're going to the world series. >> do you root for the cubs or dodgers. i'm gonna go with cubs. >> oh yes. i was rooting for the cubs anyway. i don't play that oh, the dodgers. i hope the dodgers fall off the cliff. just to see the city of chicago go crazy. there's something about when you win for the first time in 71 years, you don't have to be a cubs fan to appreciate that. >> that's a feel-good thing if it happens. we'll see. that will be very exciting. now, i don't know if they do this is in baseball, you tell me. do the rookies always have to pay for the dinner? >> they make them sometimes dress up on the road crazy. i've heard stories like this. like they all go out to eat and they leave them with a $3,000 bill, that kind of stuff. >> have you heard of 55,000? i mean come on, this was the latest with the cowboys. >> who got stuck? >> i'm not clear. i don't think it was just one player, but i'm more shocked at the bill. these guys went to dinner and i do believe it was -- i don't know if it was the entire time but it was close. is that a thousand a head? how can you eat and drink that much. >> 54,494. >> i think that includes the tip, party of 12 or more. >> you know, not to get grouchy here, but i don't think that -- i don't like that when they -- somebody with money or somebody puts their hands on you. you know, like it used to be in the old days they'd tie the player up and hang them to the gold post. >> that amount of money is obscene to me. >> don't touch my body or my wallet. that's my rules. >> and it just shows more of them like to throw it away. that's how they value it.. here's the thing. so they're making a lot of money, we know that. we know they waste a lot of money. gilbert arenas, who we've seen throw himself a birthday party and all of this, at the end of october he's done. >> i was just going to ask you when does this end? >> october 31st he gets his last payment. it was 111 million he had to pay out over 8 years, so he's all done. after this he has to live on $100,000. you know how it goes, right? the cushion. the first thing to go, he goes kids, public school. i'm spending money to send my kids to private school, so you guys are going to slum it in public school. i'm also shocked at the price of private school. that is four kids. that doesn't surprise you. >> it's about 20,000 a pop. >> there you go. >> whenever i see him, you know, he started his career with the warriors. >> i know. i saw that. he was drafted, i don't know, second round, 30th or so. >> yeah. a great story. he came down. it was a rookie. he came down to the station and he -- we all came out to see him. he had six televisions in his escalade, and then we found out about a year later he didn't even have a driver's license. >> oh my gosh. >> yeah, he had -- he didn't get his driver's license until his mid-20s. >> was he driving the escalade himself? >> of course. >> wow! that's called distracted driving, right, which tv to look at. >> we couldn't believe it. we all checked it out. he didn't get a driver's license until his mid-20s. >> this is what i'm talking about. i mean really? and then you're cutting back on education. >> but he had a great jump shot. >> that's great. i didn't tell you what kim kardashian -- oh, sorry. i was teasing. kim kardashian was on 60 minutes and she was asked what's her talent. and i'm just going to tell you her answer basically was look at my bank account. i know how to make money off of myself. >> she's not lying. >>
