[ laughter ] good question. let's look at the south bay. the only problem in the south bay is a 14-minute drive on northbound 101. otherwise looking good. san mateo bridge from hayward to foster city, that will take you 17 minutes between 880 and 101 and then a look at the nimitz freeway live on 880 northbound between -- from 238 in san leandro to the maze, a quick 16 minutes. over to the altamont pass, traffic coming out of tracy that's 205 to the altamont pass, you're moving at 24 miles an hour. and then speeds pick up to 33 miles per hour once you hit north flynn road. also keep in mind there's a high wind advisory across the altamont pass so keep both hands on the wheel and give yourself space between cars. the altamont pass to 680 will take you 16 minutes. now let's talk about mass transit. as we have all morning long, bart is still recovering from a ten-minute delay on richmond lines if you are heading to richmond, fremont or millbrae. and then ace train the vta shuttles this afternoon, that serve -- the buses that serve the vta shuttles will be running 15 minutes earlier due to the pac-12 championship game at levi's stadium. so if that's part of your commute, you will want to keep that in mind. make sure you schedule accordingly. otherwise, ace trains 3 and 5 no delay. muni and caltrain on time, as well. roberta? >> so how's that bus doing, roqui, on the roads, the one i threw brian under? >> well, right now, it's stalled. [ laughter ] there's more devastating drinks news this morning. big jolt of coffee enthusiasts everywhere. the big boss at starbucks is stepping down. that kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks has more. >> reporter: you can't blame starbucks shareholders if they are nervous this morning after starbucks founder and ceo howard schultz says he is stepping down as ceo just focusing on being chairman. long-time executive kevin johnson will take over schultz' role. it's not the first time he stepped down. back in 2000 he pulled back from the business and the company's stock plunged after that. eventually it recovered but then again craters in 2008 during the financial crisis. schultz came back and starbucks stock soared higher going from $5 to $57 right now. the stock is down a little this morning. there's some decent news on the job market. the labor department says we had a gain of 178,000 jobs in november. pretty much in line what economists were expecting to see. now, they were not expecting to see the unemployment rate drop to 4.6%. that's a nine-year low. it's not all good news. fewer people are looking for work that led to the decline. hourly wages down from the prior month. stock market is off to a mixed start this morning but this time it's the other way. blue chips down, dow down 27 right now. the nasdaq is up 10. s&p higher by 2. two tech companies to watch today pandora and ebay each of them are surging higher in the early going. brian and michelle, back to you. jason brooks from kcbs radio, thank you. the man arrested in the murder of a city worker will make his court appearance today. michael his inboat thom will face a judge this afternoon. he was arrested in vallejo in connection to the shooting death of jermaine jackson. three father of two whats doing his job painting graffiti after the 25th and vermont streets in san francisco. jag son's aunt said he was devastated. >> we thought it made it out of this mess. >> jackson was an apprentice with the department of public works since 2015. he was expected to graduate from the program next year. 12 minutes before 7:00 on this friday. it's time for a bent metal update. here's roqui. >> you and these intros. i love it. thank you, brian. it's now 6:48. let's head to the richmond/san rafael toll plaza where traffic is slow but across the span, to the west end there, right before the west end, westbound 580 before the west end, two- car crash and this is blocking the left lane. also having debris in the road, as well. crews are trying to clear it out for you but as you can see in that area traffic is at just 15 miles per hour. let's head now to the south bay in the santa clara-san jose area. it's northbound 101 before trimble road. it's a big rig and four cars blocking the two left lanes. crews are out there trying to clear it out. but as you can see, traffic moving at 17 miles per hour. so that's definitely going to cause delays on northbound one into san mateo. from the san mateo bridge from hayward to foster city, you will have a slow commute of 22 to 25 minutes between 880 and 101 and then a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, you have a high wind advisory still in effect across the span there so make sure you drive slowly. the maze to downtown 24 minutes. >> i was working feverishly. i was trying to pull up a picture from the live weather camera at the observatory atop mauna loa. that's on the big island of hawaii where it's currently 30 degrees and snowing. it's snowing on the big island right now!
