explosion happened after a man climbed a high voltage tower and touched the power lines. fire officials say the man suffered major injuries but did survive the climb and then a fall of 60 feet to the ground. right now, police say the motive for the chime was nlimb was not. north korea says it is reviewing a plan to strike guam with missiles. it's the latest threat in escalating nuclear tensions with north korea and the u.s. it came hours after a stark warning from president trump. >> north korea best not make any more threats to the united states. they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. >> republican senator john mccain responded to that comment saying great leaders don't threaten foes unless they're ready to act. california congressman warned any attempted is finished. along with north korea. >> it was announced today that the defense intelligence agency has determined north korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside a missile. the death toll from a powerful earthquake in china has climbed to nine. the quake struck in the southwest part of the country 175 miles north of it happened around 9:20 in the m-tving lo i evening. at least five killed were tourists. > we now know more about the shooting death of a film location scout on san francisco's twin peaks. two people have been arrested, a man and woman. in court today, we learned that the 20-year-old woman was the alleged shooter and not the 19-year-old man she was with. still, both sides will be charged with murder. leanne melendez is live with the story. leeann? >> reporter: a few surprises in court today. first of all, the alleged female shooter is in the hospital for reasons unknown to us. meanwhile, the family of edward french now say all of this could have been avoided. police in san francisco wasted no time taking this booking photo of 20-year-old from her hospital bed. she was meant to be in court today alongside lamont mims, accused of killing edward french on twin peaks. >> there are some physical limitations about her being here. she is currenly in the hospital. >> reporter: friday is when both suspect also be arraigned. in court today, it was revealed that the court alleshe shot fre his camera. family and friends of the former manager were in court today. >> it doesn't matter if it was for a camera or watch or money. the fact that he was an innocent life. they just wanted something he had. >> reporter: in july 2016, mims had been convicted of burglary in san matea. while on probatioprobation, he arrested in july of this year for possessing a firearm. july 11, he was arained in court but released by a judge. five days rater on july 16, police say they committed the crime. >> they suggested release with certain conditions. and the judge carried out that recommendation. >> reporter: the judge released mims based on a recommendation for the san francisco pretrial, which made a risk assessment of mims and found him to be a mid level risk. >> i don't know how this system works to make this happen. but it doesn't work. and there's living proof of it. >> reporter: phone calls to that unit, which partners with the sheriff's department, were not returned. in san francisco, leeann melendez, "abc7 news." san jose police are search forg a murderer following a robbery that turned deadly. a memorial grew all day long jim's liquor. the family members say lee was defending his wife. >> his wife stand up and the guy came over, he put the mask on, and that's when he said give him the money. >> was not going to give up the money, and the type of person he, is he would not just give in. >> lee is san jose's 17th homicide victim this year. a big federal law enforcement operation led to numerous arrests in the bay area today. the feds aren't talking, nor is the san francisco police department. but we have information about the operation. vic lee is live with the details. what have you learned? >> reporter: we have learned that it was dubbed operation cold day. appropriate with a fog hanging over much of the city. federal agents and san francisco police went door to door, executing search and arrest warrants. sources with knowledge of the operation tell us the lead agency was the atf, and they started the investigation more than a year ago. today was d-day, the day they swept in and made the arrests. one of our sources told us the targets were "really bad dudes." it all started at 7:00 this morning. our media partners posted this video from twitter user r most of the operation went down in san francisco. this was one of the locations. the housing developments in the sunnyvale district where some 17 search warrants were executed. when we were there, we saw two people in custody. but the task force also hit the peninsula and other counties, as well. federal agents and police had more than 100 arrest warrants, and they executed over 30 search warm warrants. the investigation focused on guns, stolen cars and stolen property. we don't know how many targets were arrested today, but we're told the majority of the suspects will be prosecuted in federal court. the rest by local district attorneys. the san francisco d.a.'s office issued a statement confirming that there was an operation, but they released no information for the safety of police who were involved. suspects away, the atf hopes to put a real dent in the trafficking of illegal guns here in the bay area. one footnote, the federal agency i.c.e. was not involved in today's startup gladly demonstrating how their software is meant to bring the customer service experience into the 21st century. >> the idea is to enable customers to know who you are as a customer. >> reporter: today, gladly and jetblue announced a partnership. the airline invested in gladly and starting this fall will use their software to bring all forms of communication onto one platform. the employees will use it to streamline their process. >> you don't have to repeat yourself, that's always the challenge. >> reporter: the president of jetblue technology venture s hopes it will take some of the stress out of travel. >> we can make our crew members available any time, then it makes everybody's lives much easier. >> reporter: they give the consumer a much more individualized, customized share with her future children. but now they're gone, stolen from the back of her car. liz came to san francisco back in june to visit a friend and parked right here along olive street. she was gone about two hours when somebody smashed a back window of her car. the thief took a bag pull of laptops and backup drives. >> i can't put into words how difficult it is. the loss is like grieving for him. it almost feels like it's hearing it all over again. >> reporter: liz filed a police report and tracked down video of a suspicious man lurking near her car and she hired a private investigator. she's now documenting new moments with her father but says it's impossible to re-create what was lost. >> i'm doing my best this. if it's sitting in a pawnshop, i guess you never know. >> reporter: she knows getting her electronics back is a long shot, but hopes anyone with information calls police. alyssa harrington, "abc7 news." harmful, that's how google's ceo is describing a memo from a former engineer about gender differences. he was terminated yesterday for "perpetuating gender stereotypes." his memo argued women do not have the biological makeup to succeed in silicon valley. many forecast. >> i think a lot of folks are liking this welcomed, cooler air. after last month, august has been relatively cool. here's the highlights. that cloud cover is going to be widespread, and tomorrow like it was today,clearing, another comfortable day tomorrow and we're tracking cooler weather on the horizon to finish off the seven-day forecast. that excessive heat looks to stay away the next several days. let's show you the current picture we have out there. we have that thick bank of coastal cloud cover. we see a drizzle off the coast. it's not out of the question to have some coastal drizzle. tracking what is now a dying thunder shower. a couple of lightning strikes in the past half hour. but you can see the activity is winding down. it's going to be a quiet night across the region. numbers very typical for august. about 31 degrees from the coast to inland. the warmest spot, antioch at 90 degrees. sandwiched in the 60s and 70s. 65 in oakland. 72 in san jose. 60 in san francisco. and napa currently 70 degrees. live doppler 7 hd, here's the setup. that's a traffic jam so to speak, all thanks to this right here. high pressure, it is strong, the muscle maker of the forecast right now. it's not moving anywhere any time soon and that means this area of low pressure is going to keep that marine layer nice and thick and for the next two case. we have that coastal cloud cover right now. it's going to be an overcast night tonight. 50s to low 60s, clouds and a chance of coastal drizzle. hour by hour we go, early in the morning, coastal drizzle, the cloud cover pulls back to the coast by midday and into the afternoon, we're cool to warm across the region. a close look at the highs on wednesday. today, a carbon copy forecast tomorrow. on the peninsula, 72 for today. these are pictures line bike shared with us. about 300 green bikes are now available. this system has no docking stations and no time limits. also today, this is the company's video. all bikes are equipped with solar power locks and a built-in gps. these programs are separate from the four go bike system which is expanding through san francisco, san jose, and the east bay. and you've probably seen them around the bay and maybe even ridden one of those blue s bicycles. but now activists want go bike to listen to folks in the mission district. the bikes were rolled out in june. they often carry tourists to places like the mission. tension already existed in the mission over gentrificatiogentr driving out resident there is and hundreds of bikes have been vandalized. >> that is a sign of frustration. people who felt like they weren't heard properly. >> if we were to remove stations from here in the mission, we would be doing the program and a people who use it a disservice. >> heelsberg a tee totalling small by. but after last night, we did hear the word in reference to tasting rooms and some people are not happy about it. >> these businesses are the fabric of our small town. >> reporter: ann peterson, they're upset about a planning department guideline that limits tasting rooms to only four per downtown square block. by avoiding a commercial monocommercial of deep pocketed tasting rooms, it means keeping downtown diverse and affordable for other small businesses like bradford and his art gallery. >> all things in moderation. >> reporter: heelsburg first established the guideline in 2005. since then, the wine business has become a worldwide attraction with 30 tasting rooms in 30 blocks. >> too much wine? i don't think so. probably after five or six wine bars you like a beer. >> reporter: wineries ask why hurt the business that made the town so famous? >> the whole point is to promote the agriculture of the area. >> reporter: last night's vote was unanimous, like this wine, the city counsel is looking for balance. >> we just want to have a varied community that has offered various different things. >> reporter: call it a disagreement pouring out, not in gulps but sips. wayne freedman, "abc7 news." the mayor who helped lead san bruno after the 2010 gas line explosion is stepping down. he announced he will not seek re-election this fall. he's been a member of city counsel since 1995. he became mayor in 2009 one year before the gas explosion killed eight people and destroyed dozens of homes. he helped push for changes from pg&e. he told the daily journal he plans to pick up more work as a plastering contractor and spend time with his family now that he's stepping down. the usda just awarded the largest grant to california to make it easier for people with low incomes to buy locally grown produce. the $3.9 million grant will officially go to california's nutrition incentive program, a bill authored by phil payne, kr. as part of the state's department of agriculture, it will expand the market match program, which gives shoppers with snap benefits a dollar for dollar match that can only be used to produce at farmer's markets. a $75 fee has been at the airports, that will help offset the rising costs associated with those types of flights. a fiesta at san francisco international airport marked the start of new nonstop flights to mexico from alaskan airlines. now to a story you'll see only on "abc7 news" tonight. an east bay man found thousands of baseball cards on the highway and he's trying to get them back to the owner. laura anthony has the story. >> reporter: randy wilford said he just finished fixing a flat tire when he noticed what looked like litter. he soon realized there were baseball cards, thousands of them. >> what was going through my mind was the one card that you heave sitting in the bushes, the one with all the value or meant the most, so you dig through the bushes to get all of the cards out. >> reporter: thes are the pictures he took sunday morning along highway 4 near the antioch bridge. hi took him nearly two hours to pick up some 2,000 cards. >> they were blown up the hillsided a the pushes. >> reporter: the cards are mostly from the early 1990s. some loose. others in plastic sleeves. his wife and son helped clean off the collection. >> if i lost all my stuff i loved from my childhood, i would want it back. >> reporter: randy isn't much into baseball cards himself. at this point, he just wants to do the right thing and return all of this to its rightful owner. >> you realize it's more of a personal value than financial, right? so somebody is going to miss this. they spent a lot of time putting it together, so they would want it back. >> reporter: wilford posted about the cards on his facebook page and contacted several local police departments. but so far the collector has yet to come forward. laura anthony, "abc7 news." a s the perfect wedding and the pictures prove it. but what about the video? tonight, see how michael finney tries to track down the videographer more than a year after the ceremony. next, a year of preparation pays off whe the dow snapped its winning streak on what would have been its tenth straight day of record high closes, today it was off by 33 points. the nasdaq dipped by 13, the s&p lost about 6. for the first time in california, the powerball and mega millions jackpot are above $300 million. the next drawing for mega millions is 8:00 tonight, the jackpot is $350 million. the next powerball is tomorrow, and the jackpot is estimated $307 million. players in california have won the last two powerball and mega millions jackpots. we are less than two weeks away from a total solar eclipse. after a year of preparation, officials say our electric grid will have enough energy to make up for lost solar production. california's power grid is one of the most solar connected grids in the country. to prepare for the eclipse, officials consulted grid operators in europe who experienced an eclipse in 2015. while they're confident in their preparations, there are no guarantees. >> we could have another heat wave that comes upon us. it could be a very hot day. so we could see the weather changing the demand on the system. >> now, the grid needs to generate over 6,000 mega watts in order to make up for the three-hour loss in solar energy from the eclipse, roughly enough energy to power over 6 million homes. our friends at energy upgrade california say even small changes will help offset greenwood drive. officials tell us there was a fire and live wires in a swimming pool that's prompted evacuations of several nearby homes. very scary. as you can see, the firefighters have contained the fire but still very much an active scene. officials are urging people to stay away from the area for the time being as they get it sorted out. some of the happiest days of any couple's life, their wedding day. a san francisco couple wanted to make sure it was well documented to relive every moment. >> but when the video never came, what a heartbreak. michael finney jumped in to help. >> let this be a warning to every bride-to-be. waiting until after the wedding might be too late. >> it was perfect for us. >> reporter: shana wagner and shawn lewis tied the knot last june. they hired a videographer and a photographer to capture every moment. the photographer came through. they say the videographer did not. >> i think the ceremony was a highlight for us. you know, we would love to see the video of our vows and everything. >> they agreed to pay $4200 to film their wedding. three shot their wedding for ten continuous hours. though they paid for most of the contract, a year later they still haven't received their video. >> after the fact, he said, you know, it will be ten days after the wedding or something. we they have heard from them and it kept going on like that. >> reporter: the opener of the company stopped responding in january. apparently a number of achievements were upset with grossa. there are complaints about the now closed company on yelp. one couple that did get some of their raw video blamed grossa for ruining one of the most important aspects of the veding day, to which he responded, if you think we ruined your wedding day, you should be glad that we preserved the files and sent them to you. deleting them would havetruly ruined your wedding. so snap out of it and be grateful you received what you did. we tried to track him down, reaching out on instagram, on twitter, and knocking on doors of previous addresses in oakland and in palm springs. we even left messages with his parents in oregon. hey, matthew, michael finney from 7 on your side. we have a lot to talk about. and left a message at his last known phone number. would you please give me a call? but we still haven't heard anything from him. >> take hiring your videographer just as serious as your photographer. >> reporter: so what should you do if you're looking for a videographer? >> so first of all, it's important to have wedding insurance. just in case anything happens fraud wise or they go out of insurance, you can still get your deposit back. >> reporter: insurance can cost between $155 and $550, depending on the amount of coverage you want. she also recommends checking reviews on line. meeting with the videographer in person before the wedding and trust your instincts. use a credit card to pay. it will provide you with an opportunity to get a refund. shawn and shana didn't do that. but they're still holding out hope they will some day hear their vows again. >> just to see everything again, it's really what i think we're trying to do. >> cut short. donovan newsom collided with a teammate. he was down for about 15 minutes before he was taken off the field. he was taken to the stanford medical center, diagnosed with a concussion,
